It's like Golden Idol but without the part where you have to think creatively and fill in the gaps. Just very straightforward vignettes where everything is spelled out. None of those moments where the evidence feels impossible but you can feel the edges of something that halfway makes sense and finally you figure out the missing key and it all snaps together. Instead it's just "Okay so his note says 'I am going to sabotage the thing' and I see that the thing is sabotaged, got it".
A fun series of diorama mysteries with a musical twist. Some obtuse and difficult puzzles, but ultimately a rewarding experience with an engaging storyline and a lot of fun references for theater kids like myself. I just wish that we could hear more of the songs.
This is a qualified recommendation, mostly if the game is on sale. The game has many good points. The artwork is fun. The gameplay is mostly high quality. The community theater setting is delightful, particularly if you happen to be a theater person. The negatives are: - The last chapter is overly convoluted, doesn't fit the personality of the main characters as established, and frankly kind of brings the whole thing down for me. - The voice acting is strangely bad. I was convinced that all of the characters were voiced by the same person, or at most two people, and the credits had a full cast. - It's fairly short. - There were some blocking bugs I had to work around. - As a theater person myself, I was way more delighted with the skewering of petty community theater politics and backstabbing before I realized the game designer works on Broadway. Then the humor started to feel like punching down. It's the same problem I have with the movie "Waiting for Guffman". YMMV on that one. All in all, yes it's a mostly fun game, but I would not recommend it at much more than $5.
A very fun Golden Idol-like, with some slightly different mechanics and a very engrossing overall story. Definitely more fun if you know things about theater or have ever had the (mis)fortune to be involved in community theater. Some stuff can be a little bit buggy (for example, sometimes if you don't drag the words to precisely the right place, they won't stick) but it's definitely worth your time if you enjoy mysteries of this type or like theater! I found the characters much more engrossing and relatable than in other similar games. (Also, for the record, I do not think that the game romanticizes harassment. I'm sorry that another reviewer had a negative experience with the credits, but it feels like they were projecting their own interpretation and assuming that was what the game designer intended and what everyone else would experience. If you're on the fence because of that, note that the game does have harassment/stalking in it, but it requires a very particular set of assumptions to believe that the ending is positive about it.)
Really like this game! Very good story. The world is pretty well connected, with most of the cast having conflicted interests and motivations that pan out through out the story. Also a very good use of having the end of the story being at the beginning, with you learning the context of it as you go. However, I felt like the gameplay is pretty unpolished. This is basically a golden idol clone, but much more annoying in the gameplay aspect. The solving system can get really annoying when you figure out the premise of the solution, but are unable to put it into words. I found myself wishing that gameplay would be less clunky so that I could get back to the story. I also hated the last scene's overly complicated layout, with the way of gathering clues being so convoluted as well. Really wish that this game played smoother, but it was still a very fun venture.

Absolutely loved this game's story.
An excellent Golden Idol-like, very entertaining with fun references to real musicals sprinkled throughout. It's a bit easier than Idol, but I felt that it had enough challenge to keep me engaged and give me a sense of accomplishment when I solved a case. My only negatives are 1) I would've liked some kind of indicator of where my last one or two words were. I'd clicked on everything, so their bubbles were all red, and it took some work to find the last yellow words. and 2) I'd like a zoom function to see all the scenes in more detail. I also liked the text enlarger, but I would've liked a way to zoom in on the originally formatted documents - and the fact that the text enlarger doesn't include yellow highlights made it hard to find some of the words in smaller text documents. Overall, highly recommend to fans of the Case of the Golden Idol series.
this is a pretty fun golden idol alike, my only problem with it is that, while it copies the golden idol 1 system of needing to click on every word, to add them to your word cloud, and points of interest being highlighted in yellow, which then turns to red after you investigate. they didn't copy the part of the system where if you don't get every word out of the POI, it stays yellow to indicate that you have more to find there. The only points of pain in my playthrough have come from needing to painstakingly go back through every poi to find a word that im missing. so i think im done playing this game after more than hour on the last puzzle with 2 missing words, no idea where to find them, its a real disapointing end to a game that i was enjoying. so be diligent if you play this
