Wanted to like it since the concept was similar to Unpacking, but I cannot support AI art when it takes away from actual artists who spend time learning their craft. Restricting with the two walls, and like others said, doesn't tell you when you're on the last item and you can't change it at that point. (The ai art isn't even good, it's very unsettling) ((edit: dev mad lol))
Uses Ai art, if I knew that I would have never bought it. Also not that much freedom when it comes to placing certain items and not that much freedom moving camera. If you want a game that doesn't have ai art and has more freedom just get unpacking.
Not a ton of replayability, you get the same four environments (with minor adjustments) not matter what choices you make, with the stuff you're unpacking as the only difference. The AI art is SUPER unsettling, and the fact that you can't adjust/change rooms after you've unpacked the last item is super annoying. If you want a cheap Unpacking-like, this fits the bill, but you'd be better off playing Unpacking.
The controls are rough, the game doesn't save properly and its an AI rip off of Unpacking.
I wanted to like this game but unfortunately it's lacking in a few areas which, for me, ruin it. Overall, I like the idea of the game. It has a lot of promise and, if it wasn't for the 'cons' it would be a top tier game for me. However, the cons are quite significant imo and ruin the game to the point I can't be bothered to continue. Pros: - Nice art style - Cosy, relaxing game - Great for wasting 5 to 50mins of time Cons - Unable to rotate the screen - EDIT, apparently it's possible to do this. It's not clear however and I didn't know about/see the 'hint' text until the dev replied. - Items are restricted in where they can go. They clip through the wall or into other items making them hard to place. - Like Unpacking but without the fun If you're considering this game, opt for something like unpacking instead
I'm a sucker for organizational games and was excited to try this one out, but I think that Moving Through Life has a few issues that make it quite frustrating and/or confusing. I feel the placement is very limited - in particular, I had an issue with the pillows. There were so many to place, and minimal areas they could go on. It would be fine if I could place them on other furniture, or even the floor, but they HAVE to go in specific areas; I ran into a problem where I was cluttering them together in any way they would fit just so I could continue. I also agree with some of the other reviewers that it the ending of each level felt sudden and I sometimes ended with random items on the floor because I hadn't decided where to put them yet. Subjectively, I think that some of the items simply didn't go together, or they only work with a particular layout to not look sloppy. Sure, I could put the furniture whichever way I please, but it will only look good/right if I use a similar layout to the images in the game page's screenshot gallery. This took out a lot of the immersion for me and made the game somehow feel sort of linear. I can't recommend this game... I see what the devs were going for, but it just didn't feel satisfying for me. I got this game during a sale for a bit over $1USD, and I wouldn't say that was a terrible price for anyone who wants to try this game for themselves. That said, I think I would have returned it if I'd paid the full $5 price.
Not sure why this doesn't have more reviews. It's very similar to Unpacking but with more freedom to arrange things. Cute game. There is no story, which would of been nice, but for the price, its totally worth it. Only thing I don't like is that once you place the last item for a room, it won't allow you to adjust.
