Moss is a great VR game. The diorama like lands that you go through are clear, colorful, mood setting and appropriate. The play is intuitive with you playing the part of a “reader” who helps a little mouse named Quill battle to save her uncle and land. An innovative inclusion by the developers is that Quill often helps you out with gestures and sounds to determine your next direction or action. I used the Valve Index “knuckles” VR controllers and they were very responsive during the game. I accessed the game through my PC and Steam with the Vive Pro 2 headset. The game downloaded and played without any crashes or freezes. The commands are easy to learn with no noticeable time lag. The only MINOR problem was getting the shooting crabs to fire in the right direction. This is a great story that kept my interest throughout. The boss challenges are intense but due to the programmed save check points, they are not extremely frustrating. Once you figure out their weaknesses, they can be defeated. Buy this game and you won’t be disappointed!
I've played both Book 1 and 2. I still prefer the original. It is one of the best games I have ever played. Moss is one of those games that literally surprises you the first time you play it. When you go in blind and you have totally no idea what the game is about, the impact is even bigger.
There's a venn diagram of "Brian Jacques' Redwall" and "Shane Acker's 9", and this game and I sit comfortably in the overlap. And much like I would consider Beat Saber the best Star Wars game, I would consider this the best Redwall game. The concept is refreshing, focusing on small detailed vignettes rather than large spectacle. The music is extremely fitting for the setting. There's a good economy of detail, going heavy in places where it matters and letting the background fade away. Quill is a fun protagonist in how she interacts with the world and the player, and there's a lot of effort put into her design and animation that is immediately apparent, and even more so as the game progresses. The enemies are weird little guys, which is great, though at points the game does just kind of throw a lot at you. Two key issues I have: - Directional controls take into account the direction of your head, but not of your controller, which can make it a bit hard to figure out which angle you're going to be running at and is annoying on some of the less-forgiving platforming areas. - No indication of where previously-picked-up secret collectibles were, so if you go back through to collect them all you'll have to be really good at remembering which levels you found them in. Other than that, it's an easy recommend. 6 hours was enough for me to play through and then go back to find all the collectibles I missed, which seems surprisingly short in retrospect given how interesting and filled out the world was. Normally if something felt like it took longer it's because that thing was dull, but this is sort of the opposite!
Beautiful game and a lot of fun.
Just having a great time playing went and bought moss 2 right away kudos on the graphics and stories that are on both games
I will do anything for Quill. I will kill for Quill
