Pros: Very unique concept, Good co-op game, Definitely recommend. Cons: Finished the game in about 4h, was expecting a bit more.
A great co-op puzzle game. Loved the overall concept, puzzle design, art direction, and worldbuilding. I'm surprised the ratings aren't universally positive, but I see a lot of complaints are around solo play, and it should definitely be played with another person.
Great CO OP puzzle game
Well, it was a LOT shorter than I expected, and a good 50% of the deaths I experienced were from unexpected things like falling through holes in walls, or shadows caused by... nothing? The puzzles were nice and simple, which is a relief since I struggled to split focus between two characters. This game feels like it was made for co-op, but plays with the unforgiving shamelessness of a game made for singleplayer... The art style(s) were... well, unique, but for the unexpected change at the end. But I'm sorry to say for under 3 hours of gameplay (I'm going back for some achievements and exploration) I don't know if it justifies the price. I'd not play £5 for an hour of 'why did that kill me?', even with the 'oops. My bad' accidents all the way through, this game was bouncing between frustrating and fun. Probably didn't help that the 'swap player' button didn't make any sense to me until two levels in (where I suddenly stopped dying so much). I will say that the last level was a lot of fun, even if it was a little confusing as to how that actually happened... Despite all my misgivings, this game gets a thumbs up, but not for the price. Yes, I know making a game is hard work, but even with me snuffing it a bunch of times because my thumbs don't agree on something, I played this for 2.7 hours. That's not enough for the price tag, no matter how pretty it is (because I'm too busy controlling two people who can't cross over, so I can't look at it!. (Spoilers ahead of assumed story aspects, but I'm a few murals to go, so bear with me if I'm totally wrong) --- --- --- From what I can see, the glowing fireball at the beginning is some kind of egg (heh, sperm) and it animates what appear to be a pair of corpses to keep it safe as it gestates with the... well, egg it meets by the end of the prologue. Strange that it would rely on light, but who knows. We might be looking at things through a limited spectrum of vision since we're apparently controlling a pair of animated stiffs. The creature we see at the end has the same eye as the tentacles we've seen under the water, and inside Meat... This suggests they're the same beasties. Possibly explains why it was content to watch us passing by. As for the angry folks with crossbows... To be fair, I'd freak out a bit if a pair of reanimated corpses came along pushing a gestating foetus through my halls... It goes from caves, to mines, to meat in a very short amount of time... This suggests that whoever is making the gates (yes, inside Meat too) either has some strange ideas of real estate, or is actively pushing the mouth with the most back into a corner... However, judging by the state of disrepair (and slugs... adorable shiny slugs) it's easy to believe the pick-swingers are losing this battle... Hard to tell, but since the tentacles that ferry us around are bigger than buildings, it's easy enough to assume... I'm curious about the world and what more there is to understand about it... There seem to be more creatures than Meat, tentacle-eyes, tentacles, the reanimated shadows of the pick-people and the pick-people themselves. At least in the form of the worms, the 'feet' and whatever those shadow-shy-squirmers in the woods were.
The game is decent. I wouldn't recommend playing it by yourself as you will learn to hate this game. Do it with a friend if you want to keep your sanity
