Mordheim at first glance seems like a really fun game. I never played the tabletop version, but I did play Necromunda when it was initially released, and this game gives me the same vibes. You build a small warband and battle it out over resources and scraps of land across the city of Mordheim. As you fight, your warband gains experience and equipment, slowly improving over time. The core game is RNG-based strategy, similar in style to the newer X-Com titles. Of course, being set in the fantasy world of Warhammer, the combat is much more focused on melee combat and magic. The core movement and attack systems are simple and easy to learn, and you can jump right in and start learning the game without having to go through the extensive tutorials if you want. If I had one criticism of the game, I would say that the graphics are very dark and murky. The games I played were always set at night, and with the gritty realism style the game goes for, it makes it hard to see the details. I'd probably have preferred something a more bright and colourful, mainly so I could see what I was doing with ease. Still, that's a minor point compared to the big one. The second time I loaded into the game I was unable to load my campaign. The load screen would finish, but clicking to continue wouldn't work. I managed to get around this bug after restarting it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and played another game. Then, it failed to load into the next game I attempted. I was forced to restart the game again, and was then unable to load my campaign. Again. I found a few forum threads with things to try and get around this bug, but unfortunately nothing I tried worked. It's a shame because this seems like it could be a really fun game, but unfortunately I find it hard to invest into a game where I could lose my progress at any point. If this bug ever gets fixed I'll likely come back, but until then I'll have to play something else instead.
Its a pretty roothless game, its very unforgiving. but i like it, might be worth looking up some strategies for the faction you choose so youre not doing anything dumb!
I mean, that's seem really deep in surface, but lost of stuff take way too long to get started, and aren't that usefull overall Also, LOT of qol would be needed to be a decent nowadays game quite sad about this tho, as that's the only one of the genre, would deserve a "rework"
Recommended.
One of the best tactical game out there, along with the XCOM series. It's fun, brutal, and extremely replayable. I wish developers didn't abandon it, but that is the world we're living in.
