About
Since launch, Moonlighter has received a wealth of updates—from quality-of-life improvements and balance tweaks to major roadmap additions. The current version expands the original experience with new mini-bosses, gear, over 100 new room layouts, Companions, deeper lore, and a New Game+ mode packed with fresh challenges.
But Will is an unwavering adventurer, and his story doesn’t end here. In 2026, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault—now available in Early Access—will receive its full release, expanding on every aspect of the beloved shopkeeping action-RPG formula and reimagining it with vibrant, fully 3D visuals.

During a long-passed archaeological excavation, a set of Gates were discovered. People quickly realized that these ancient passages lead to different realms and dimensions – providing brave and reckless adventurers with treasures beyond measure. Rynoka, a small commercial village, was founded near the excavation site providing refuge and a place for adventurers to sell their hard-earned riches.
Moonlighter is an Action RPG with rogue-lite elements following the everyday routines of Will, an adventurous shopkeeper that dreams of becoming a hero.
While conducting your business in Rynoka village, you can put items on sale, set their price carefully, manage gold reserves, recruit assistants and upgrade the shop. Be careful though – some shady individuals may want to steal your precious wares!
Defeat various enemies and bosses, and revel in challenging and deep combat mechanics. Masterful control of your weapons, critical timing, careful positioning, and an understanding of your enemies and environment are crucial to your survival. How you battle your enemies is up to you.
Get to know your neighbors as you restore the prosperity of this small commercial hamlet. Help establish new businesses and watch them grow in the idyllic community of Rynoka.
Understanding the crafting and enchanting system is essential for your progression. Interact with the villagers to craft new armor and weapons, and enchant existing equipment. This creates a great deal of flexibility and spices up the way equipment is used.
Access strange worlds through otherworldly gates and collect valuable items from exotic civilizations: resources, weapons, armors and peculiar artifacts. Hoarding everything won't be possible - use the unique inventory system wisely to take the most profitable loot with you.
Gates lead to different worlds. Each run is unique and forces you to make smart and calculated decisions. You never know what you will encounter next – that’s why you must be prepared for everything.

Cute game. Its easy and chill game, so sad that its too short of a gameplay and the new moonlighter 2 didnt stick to pixel
Cute game of being an adventurer at night and being a shopkeeper during the day.
This game is great, the 2nd could of been great too, but early access is a cancer in the gaming industry and early access games that go on sale is a 2nd red flag. Beware.
Fun little game! reminds me of classic Zelda with a rogue-like twist. Nostalgic in all the best ways.
Downloaded this game to kill some time after my development... It turned out to be a good game, small, causal game for all platform.
Honestly, not sure why it gets so much praise. Shallow game with horrible controls, bad hit boxes, and unavoidable enemy attacks. Far too punishing and grindy to start, especially managing the store and saving up for upgrades. Not worth any price IMHO. Maybe Moonlighter 2 will resolve these issues, but who knows. Thankfully I got this for "free" in a Humble Bundle.
I put over 61 hours in the game and I can say I liked it. I'm clearing my steam backlog and started playing this and I'm happy with my choice. This game does take a lot of grinding, so if you hate grinding then I don't recommend.
It's an older game but how can it be this good. The dungeons are like Zelda - old school Zelda 1, except there is a hell of a lot more than the magic sword and red ring that you can get. The gameplay, graphics, and enemy variety is impressive. It takes solid mechanics to keep me engaged in a controller game, but they have it. Normally I can't stand 'shop' games, but this title pulls it off with flair. I cadence my runs with opening my shop, shop upgrades are exciting. You can't just sit back and wait for the shop to close - there are thieves, customers will walk out, you need to lower or raise prices. The game lends itself to phases of gameplay - trying to clear the next level, trying to get a specific upgrade, trying to just raise funds. The game has depth, quality execution, and I would tell everyone to get it, even if it cost triple what I paid.
Quick dungeon-looter with nice shop twist. Start is a little slow, but things feel very good once you get your first set of armor and a favorite weapon. Family friendly btw, so that's a plus. I'd say worth the price, but you could wait for a sale if you really want. You probably get 15-25hrs of gametime out of it, and then it has replayability if you want harder difficulty or want to master more weapons.
