I adore this game so far! I do however hope there's an update to relationships (both romantic and platonic) eventually as they're kind of underwhelming right now. Your spouse is legitimately just kind of there after marriage, I'd love to see that improve in the future! I'd also like more customization options. Especially more hair options. And the ability to customize your different forms maybe. (Also please add fence gates lol) The game is very charming otherwise, the gameplay is simple and the style of the game is amazing.
Like many others have said, this game would have really benefited from an early access. The price does not justify the current content in game. This is a unique spin on a familiar game and I WANT to enjoy this so bad! However, I spend 75% of my game play time in a loading screen. The content is just not there. I struggle every in game day to see what I am working for. I REALLY hope I can some day come back to this game and I find that updates have helped it along.

I like the game, or more like the idea of the game, but I can’t recommend it as of now. It feels like an early access and for the price, it’s very disappointing. We’ve been waiting for this game for a while and it’s not polished nor complete. It lacks a lot of basic stuff that even early access games have (FOM set the bar high I guess). WHAT IT LACKS/ISSUES: - Updates for farm buildings - A general store - More clothes and more hairstyles, more customisation in general, same with bedding for vampires (it all looks the same, only the colors change) - More rewards or competition for Nokturna (is the goal only about cards?) - The dates are all the same et repetitive - Apparently, spouses do not get their own room after marriage and you don’t really know where they sleep - A lot of stuff is not explained nor is intuitive (like the spells for ex or sunscreen what even is the purpose of it) - Hard to give gifts after spring as no flower grow and buying stuff is hella expensive - At first, the pace is great but after the first season, it gets very slow and boring. You don’t really know what to do. You just have to wait for another quest to come in. - Vampsters???? We should be able to put them in our inventory, especially with the underwhelming reward at the end - There is a lot of things that don’t make sense imo, like vampires can only sleep in coffins but in a way, your character is also a witch so??? - Lightning in the house is very annoying, we should be able to change it. The house is small too I feel like, even after updates - Characters appear randomly and then, you can’t meet them again with no real justification whatsoever I could go on and on about this game. I’m just extremely disappointed after waiting for so long. The devs will probably update it but we shouldn’t have to wait AGAIN for that future update. Last thing, I’m playing on Steam Deck and I don’t have a lot of bugs or crashes but my partner is playing on Switch and it’s hell apparently… Kinda shocked the devs thought the game was done and ready to go. Guess they needed the money.
I wouldn't recommend this game anymore after the new update. There is no point in nerfing sell prices in a single player "cozy" game. I'm not gonna be stressing about earning money in a game. I do that enough irl

I loved Moonlight Peaks. I genuinely looked forward to playing it every day, which is what makes leaving a negative review so disappointing. The game already required a significant amount of waiting and grinding to earn enough money for upgrades, furniture, expansions, and everything else you wanted to build. I was okay with that because I enjoyed the gameplay loop. I built up my farm, invested in production, upgraded my tools, and figured out which systems worked best for earning money. It felt rewarding to slowly make my farm more efficient. Then the new update came along and nerfed those systems. Honey production was drastically reduced. Wine production became less efficient AND wine itself now sells for significantly less. Other passive production methods were reduced as well. These weren't exploits. They were normal game mechanics that players invested time, resources, and money into building around. That's what bothers me most. I spent my time progressing and building an efficient farm using the systems the game gave me, only to have the goalposts moved afterward. Moonlight Peaks was already a waiting game. Making money slower doesn't add meaningful difficulty or interesting gameplay. It just adds more waiting between the player and the things they actually want to do. There is a difference between balancing an economy and making progression unnecessarily tedious. Before this update, I would have happily recommended Moonlight Peaks. I loved this game. I looked forward to opening it every day and seeing what I could accomplish next. Now I'm shelving it. I really hope the developers reconsider these economy changes, because I would genuinely like to come back. But unless these nerfs are reversed or significantly reworked, I have no desire to spend even more of my limited gaming time grinding for things that were already time-consuming to obtain before the update. It's incredibly disappointing to go from loving a game to feeling like your time as a player isn't being respected.
I unfortunately cannot in good conscience recommend this game. There is a severe lack of content, mainly farming-wise. I am currently in year 2 and there appears to be no further progression past this. No new recipes, no new animals, etc. There are no gates for your barn fences but there is an animal that will eat your crops, which makes no sense from a development standpoint. Said animal also drops an item that you have no actual frequent use for, so you might as well not get the animal. To make matters worse, there is at least one fence that your animals (and you) can phase through, so it may as well not be there. There is no auto petting/auto feeding or collection from your animals. The economy also makes no sense. You are not encouraged to farm different crops and discover more recipes, as you can simply only grow wheat all year long. There is one single recipe for some crops, which feels lazy. There is honey, but almost no one likes honey, and the recipes suck. There is no mead. Year 1 felt like an absolute slog. Using magic for your farming needs feels like punishment. You only get 1 mana back every night, and you need to magically water your crops, and you need said crops to create mana potions. Later on you do unlock more magic utility so it does get better eventually, but it takes too long for the magic aspect to actually feel like fun. The seasonal events and minigames are frankly boring, especially the autumn event (which I expected to be the best one considering the theme of the game...) which also makes you slog through annoying minigames for 400 points to get a mana upgrade. You can buy clothes, but you cannot try them on beforehand. Get Aras a damn fitting room please. Stupid personal gripe: The coolest character in the game cannot be romanced :( Yes I'm talking about Pumpkin Head. I love this game. One thing it does get right is that it makes you feel like you are truly part of the town. The quests involve you, and you don't feel like an indentured servant as compared to most farming sims. Your character has an actual story arc. That part is great, and I hope to see this in more farming sims!! It's beautiful, I like the characters so far, my hellkitten is the cutest in the world, and the animals are hilarious (you can talk to them), and I love decorating in this game. But this is an early access game pretending to be a full game. There needs to be more content. There needs to be more emphasis on farming. I want to love this game, and I want to be able to recommend it to people. As a fellow broodje kaas enjoyer, I hope there is improvement in the future so I can recommend this game to all my Dutch cozy gamer friends. Currently, I cannnot.
I can't in good faith recommend the game in its current state. Especially not for that expensive asking price. It is a cute and fairly amusing game, but not worth the full cost. If you're interested but on the fence, keep it on your wishlist and wait until its first decent sale. Hopefully by then the bugs will be worked out, sorely needed QoL changes will be implanted, plot pacing will be tweaked, and most importantly...the game will be finished. Once my first in-game summer rolled around, I realized I was seeing cut content, things deemed "good enough" for launch, and placeholders. It is missing the polished final touches you'd reasonably expect for its price tag. I'm disappointed they released the game like this. If we were in early access, I'd be singing a different tune, but it is what it is, so I'm judging it by the standards I'd have for a full release. The game can be charming, the early focus on and ability to decorate is fun, it has made stellar additions to the cozy niche with its witchy approach to farm life (the spellcasting and separation of crops from herbs is absolutely inspiring! I love how herbs have their own unique processes with drying and the mortar) and I got addicted to Nokturna even though I've never played a card game like it in my life. Yet I can't overlook the buggy gameplay, frustrating interface on PC, and lackluster story. The art style and graphics are doing the heavy lifting here, so be aware the pretty is hiding a lot of gameplay and story warts. Plenty of other negative reviews address the gameplay (I'm waiting for them to fix the museum and tool progression), so I'm going to focus on the story. For such a story focused game the plot is a total let down. Feels like the writing never underwent a developmental edit nor did it undergo a sensitivity read. Overall, there's a stunning lack of oversight to its plot. Most glaring example?
Well, turns out you're related to three of the love interests ... this game has a cute pastel goth aesthetic, but I doubt they intended to go THAT gothic.
I don't know if there was a rushed rewrite during production or if there truly was no dedicated writer devoted to storytelling to make sure issues like the above were ironed out, but it seems like it. I cannot find a writer anywhere on Little Chicken's website and the game's credits page list the writing as being done by people doubling up from other roles and one listed as only contributing. And you know what? It clearly shows. The story is an afterthought. I'm not going to go into the thoughtless depiction of Orlock's alcoholism or Noel's behavior, but they too are merely another symptom of the ingrained lack of consideration that went into the plot and a signal that whoever wrote this game doesn't understand their audience. There is a mismatch between what the promotional material promised us and what is actually inside the game. The plot hiccups are recurring and plentiful. Game mechanics are entirely divorced from the plot and the world's lore. Characters often feel like there's different variations of them existing at the same time. All of these little illogical story decisions in the worldbuilding and characterizations eventually snowball into total incoherency once you start connecting scenes together looking at it as a whole instead of piece by piece. We're left with a shallow world and hollow cast. Except for Hellkitten and friends. The strongest, funniest, and most colorful dialogue can be found from your farm animals! I get a kick out of speaking with them every day. I'm also perplexed by how uninterested Moonlight Peaks seems in its own genre. If you're a big fan of paranormal romance or romantasy, you're gonna be disappointed. I'm not seeing any hint that this was written by monster lovers for fellow monster lovers. While they nailed the witchcraft aspects for the farming, none of that love and attention went into the romances :( At this time, I don't recommend Moonlight Peaks. It leaves me more baffled than bewitched. I'll revisit my review in the future once I see a few more patches pushed out to fix essential issues and can confirm certain parts of the game have been finished. There's no helping the story at this point, but if you can turn off your brain and just look at the pretty colors, there's potential for this to be a strong decorating game to pass the time.
You are not going to like this game. If you like to romance males. 😬 plz research it before you pay 40 bucks for this game. Farming is ok tho but male story writing is trash aswell. I wish I would've read a blunt comment like mine before I bought it but im here to help other people that wanna play a vampire farming game like stardew its not stardew.
