The game takes place on Mican, a world turned upside down long ago by an event called "The Amalgam Anomaly" which birthed hundreds if not thousands of different types of monsters, creatures, half-breed amalgams and other nightmares into the world. The game has you create a party to venture into a mountain at the heart of Spiny Island to discover what the monsters in the caves are up to... and discover other mysterious secrets about the world in the process!

Every element of the UI has been updated and improved, both in functionality and style!
All buttons, backgrounds, fonts, item icons, ability icons, descriptions, boxes, borders, layouts... everything! Inventory items and equipment have been significantly upgraded!

Freezing the sea within the Kraken's lair will now reveal a new, icy cave in Albright Outpost, an entrance to a new dungeon- the Ancient Snowdrift!

Brave the freezing cold temperatures and you'll find a Sigil Keeper- one of four new optional bosses hidden throughout the world. Defeating them will grant you unique brand new abilities and passive powers! Try and find all four!

Something is stirring deep beneath the ground.
A new pathway has opened up in the Unending Tower, leading to a brand new area known as the Mineral Realm! Learn about ancient Micani, fight tricky crystal monsters, avoid traps, solve puzzles and find your way through a nested maze to confront an old familiar name about the sins of his past, and what devastation the future may bring.
Monsters of Mican: Crystal Edition brings forward this brand new post-game story with multiple dungeons, bosses, and an ending that lets you once again choose how the fate of all of reality is decided.
Other Features:
The Warren- a new dungeon accessible just outside of Alright Outpost, "hidden" by a not-so-inconspicuous bush. Brave the deadly traps hidden by the Thieves Guild to earn yourself honorary membership, or perhaps instead help a darker force...
Frank's Racetrack- what's cooler than a talking hot dog? A talking hot dog with sunglasses! What's cooler than a talking hot dog with sunglasses? A talking hot dog with sunglasses riding a skateboard! Race against Frankfurter The Fast in one of three difficulty levels to earn unique prizes and stat boosts that are all about speed and agility! Find the racetrack outside of the cafeteria in the Unearthed Halls Level 2!
Fishing- Pick up the fishing rod lying around against a rock on the beach and get casting in any body of water, sewage or even lava! A new NPC named Herman the Crab Hermit will give you a quest to find all 12 types of fish in the world, but be warned that fishing too much in one spot can draw the attention of fearsome sea beasts....
Nearly 40 new monsters! From Gemignite to Carewolf to Challahback, enemy variety has never been better! Now there are nearly 300 monster types to fight, befriend, and chat with! And with 4 different Monster Buddy interactions for each monster that's... A lot of dialogue!
See the detailed event post for the rest of the changes!

The Vitreous Expansion introduced three huge new dungeons:
Spinewood Forest- home to the Fairy Queen Bryxialla, this dungeon teems with traps and creatures that want nothing more than to put you in the ground to fertilize the soil. Beware the many illusions and foggy spots in the forest, lest you lose your way...
The Pipeline- brave the stench as you trudge through toxic muck to receive the unique bounty offered by the denizens of the sewer. Prepare to go for a swim as you fight the mighty Dungen Master and proceed to Lord Muffin's lair...
The Butlery- a magically interconnected space meant for storing and processing food served to all inns throughout the world who belong to the Tavern Association. The inner workings of the Butlery though are not for the faint of heart, as you must brave four unique and discrete zones before gaining access to the most prized innkeeper's items within the Vault.

Lol a sandwitch, I see what you are all about. Love the sound effects, too. Fun off kilter dungeon crawler with a good sense of humor.
Like others said : Monsters of Mican is a love letter to the golden age of dungeon crawling. It successfully blends the sheer "goofiness" and charm of M&M 4-5 with the refined mechanics M&M 6-7-8. It feels nostalgic yet fresh. The world is genuinely fun to traverse and packed with surprises. The best part? Intersting loot and the permanent stat boosters scattered everywhere. There is nothing more satisfying than watching your party’s power creep into godhood one fountain or one bookshelve at a time. Whether you want a relaxing stroll through enchanted lands or a brutal tactical grind, the difficulty is highly adaptable to your playstyle. One minor concern... The local Trainer : I’m convinced the Skill Trainer in this game is secretly the wealthiest man in the universe. I’ve spent enough gold on "master" training to fund a small galactic empire. Someone should really check his tax returns. Highly Recommended. If you’ve been hunting for something to sink your teeth into while waiting for a Might and Magic revival that never comes, this is it. It’s got the heart, the stats, and the soul of the classics.
Monsters of Mican is a treat to play. It's a keystone addition to a genre with a lot of games, but in my opinion with only a few that really live up to the feeling I got playing its predecessors that defined the genre for me. For a modernized version of Might & Magic VI, it's fantastic. There's a lot of grid blobbers out there, but not many Might & Magic-likes in general. The closest we have to MM3/MM4-5 is Legends of Amberland, with The Quest feeling like a lovely hybridization of a couple of genres, and maybe Islands of the Caliph. Most others are twists on Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder, great in their own right but very different games to the Might and Magic series. (Legends of Grimrock, Vaporum, etc) In my opinion, Mican shines due to the fact that this isn't a hyper-polished studio game. It really feels like a game born from the love of its muse. It rides the line of making sure that the game takes itself seriously enough for an RPG about epic quests and also having enemies like "Sandwitch." A witch who also happens to be a literal sandwich. The skill system and character building work exactly as you'd expect from Might and Magic 6+. The combat is more modernized and I think if MM6 had this system it would be a lot more accessible and dare I say fun too. (World of Xeen is my favorite of the series but I know 6 is where a lot of people's loyalties lie.) Music and artwork are spot on and are a large part of what gives MoM its charm. There's also some jank; none of it game breaking, that for me adds to its charm; considering the scope of the game made by a solo dev... the finished product is extremely impressive. I also very much appreciate the verbal sound effecs. A fun choice that may have been born out of necessity but really works next to everything else. The combat is fast and fun, but still requires some strategy even on Easy. (I was a bit caught off guard in the demo at times, but I knew I'd love the game so I didn't want difficulty getting in the way of experiencing this game. I hope to replay on Normal at least.) There's a lot of mixing and matching you can do with character builds well. I went in with a Knight, a Lancer, a Paladin, and a Sorcerer. My party members are level 27 and I'm having a blast. I hardly make it 10 minutes into most "AAA" games and I think it comes down to that they have .005% of the heart and soul that this game has or the level of love it feels the dev has for the original games that act as his muse. The silliness of the creatures also gets worked into the story. I don't want to say more than that; play it! At least play the demo. (and kudos to the dev for providing one. I miss the days of playable demos an finished products rather than Early Access. I've been burned too many times. Or I've only just played the game in bits and pieces that by the time it comes out I'm over it.) Just be patient. If something feels too difficult it means you need to go somewhere else. For old school RPGs... this is the way. (I also read in the game discussions that a sequel is already in the works!)
I haven't playing terribly too long but I can already say that I love this game for 2 very good reasons 1. The monster designs are hilarious and creative. 2. The developer is actively working on this game and updating it often. I love the dedication. This game is wacky and has the charm that reminds me of old school PC games. Worth the try!!!
If you can look past the graphics you will find a very solid dungeon crawler with a great variety of enemies to fight and fun dungeon gimmicks to tackle on. Great sense of progression too.
Monsters of Mican is a first-person dungeon-crawling RPG with turn-based combat, where players control a party of four heroes. Different character classes and a variety of unique monsters. Funny sound design and silly enemies create a fun mood, making the game different from other classic dungeon crawlers.
Option to change the keyboard buttons is not in the main menu, but in the menu of a started game. I was stuck in combat because my default keys did not correspond with the keyboard layout. Other than that, I just encountered two small bugs. I am very early into game.
Like the combat of Might and Magic VI, VII, VIII. Adequate dungeon crawler with cool spells. Not very large, not much of an investment, really weird monsters too!
Thought it might be what I was looking for for interesting game play and mechanics, but... GOT to frustrated with game... Every place i try to go and fight things just decimates me. Spent two hours trying to figure out what to do to the point of frustration that I don't want to play anymore I mean I either fail first encounter, drown or some insane traps kills.. ME!
