A Complete Wizardry Clone, with all the bad included. We're all desperate for a good DRPG, so when something like this comes we flock to it. There's a lot of good with this, but just too much bad. There are terrible mechanics in the early Wizardry games that should not have been transposed to this. Stuff like having no idea the properties of items or ways to find out. Stuff like LOSING stats, sometimes multiple ones when you level up. <-- this is the unforgiveable one. What an absolutely terrible mechanic that to me ruins the game. Wizardry did this and it was just as awful. It makes absolutely no sense to become weaker when you level up. This will be why I do not recommend the game.
Flash Back 80's
I just started and got my first party wipe in less than 15 minutes. This game kicked my ass and left me wanting more. Which makes it a worthy successor to Wizardry.
A labor of love by one person, they made a game they wanted to make and play. It has no automap (unless you cheat and enable it), so protip: F11 drops it out of full screen mode so you can more easily click over to your preferred mapping software (excel, libreoffice, lotus123 [lol]). It is a straight clone of the Japanese flavored Wizardry series, but clone in a good way. I think it's great and if you don't, well ƒüçʞ you very much sir.
I'm still rolling my 1st party 10/10
It is the most difficult and restrictive of the recently released wizardry-like games, but I am enjoying it extremely. https://jettatura.com/
Jettatura deserves more attention than it is getting. Had it come out before Five Ordeals, it probably gets that attention. It's a reasonably good Wizardry clone with enough differences to set itself apart from Five Ordeals. + I love the new classes. Bishop and Wizard are very good classes in this game. Adding a druid spell book was a great idea. + EXP gains are extremely well balanced. + The art is superb. The monsters and dungeon look great. + Still Wizardry at its finest. Serious blunders result in serious consequences. Bottomless pits were added - stumbling blocks to the careless player. - My progress has unfortunately come to a halt at the end of B4. I've searched the floors thoroughly... except for the dark zones. I think my progress is locked behind them. Dev expects players to make their own maps with pencil and paper... all well and good, but I'm pretty sure those dark zones contain teleports and/or spinners, wreaking havoc on my maps and progress. The spell allowing players to view the map has to be accessed by adding a trigger line in Steam, but that map is unreliable. Adding some sort of confirmation of movement in a dark zone would've helped. Dark zone teleporters and spinners are just uncalled for given the pencil and paper map expectation, and I'm not going to aimlessly wander around in dark zones hoping to get lucky. - Chest traps are split up between mechanical and magical. They can be devastating, which is typical of Wizardry. Thief/Ninja are good for the mechanical ones, while Mage/Bishop/Wizard are good for the magical ones. However, it's entirely up to the player to determine which ones are mechanical and which are magical, and it was usually trial and error for me. I wish that was explained a bit better. - I'd like to have a look at the loot tables. I suspect very few pieces of good gear actually come from the aforementioned chests. Overall, I'd say grab Jettatura if you're a fan of old school Wizardry and need a break from Five Ordeals.
Finished this game in 25 hours it is truly great and I hope to see more
The removal of save scumming and automapping keep this game from feeling cheap.
This game is decent enough for a recommend. There are caveats though: Attributes can go down on level up, you'll get cursed items with no way to sell or dispose of them other than drop them in the dungeon. None of the items have what they do and what they provide. The Pro's are its turn based, well made, I haven't seen any bugs, hard enough to keep you grinding. Give it a shot if you like Wizardy/turn based dungeon crawlers.
