Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Sep 13 → 1.33/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

First off, lemme address the "if you're not playing Slay the Spire on max Ascension you're a casual" crowd: You're gonna hate this game. Move along. Monster Train is a roguelite deckbuilder, but it's almost more like an engine builder/auto-battler in a card game format. The satisfaction of drafting cards and building a deck mixes with the satisfaction of getting your setup just right. Modifying cards directly is part of gameplay, which helps you feel like you can fight back a bit against the RNG. There are also multiple options to ratchet up the difficulty -- you can choose to increase the overall difficulty at the beginning of a run, and before a fight starts, you can choose to accept a challenge condition in exchange for greater rewards. It's not as deep or complex as some of the luminaries of the genre, but it's also less punishing. It's also quite pretty to look at and has surprisingly good music (when's the last time you thought about a deckbuilding game's music?). Monster Train 2 is a very worthy sequel too. If you're not sure whether you'd like either of them, get MT1, and if you like MT1 you can be confident getting MT2.

Fun Game
Hallo.
This game was made redundant with Monster Train 2. Still being sold at its full release price? Shame. You're only missing out on a few enemy designs and references. Watch a YouTube video of this one and then move on.
Best game in the genre.
Insane and satisfying power scaling. Failed runs feel like a skill problem, not a luck problem. Half the fun is figuring out what synergies let you snowball.
CHOO CHOO
After 1 hour of playing I knew I was in trouble. this fast paced gameplay is ADDICTIVE. the vivid colors were a bit much at first but it's quite a cohesive immersion once you get sucked in. oh, and wait for a sale! this is another example of a sequel making the original game super cheap, just wishlist this. FOMO of the sequel? go check out that page's reviews and consider what it's worth. IMO this game on sale has a huge advantage when it comes to value
