Reviews
This might be my favorite monster collector in recent memory, truly a well rounded and satisfying experience. Tons of depth at almost every level, rewarding and constant progression, and full of creative passion top to bottom. I've seen quite a few reviews on this game talking about the combat being too slow, or the early game being boring, or the rest of the game getting boring. Personally, I think none of these are even a little true. The combat is incredible, and very satisfying to create synergies between monsters, their passive effects, and building good combo strings for ideal damage. These can be stressed to the extreme against boss battle reruns where a fast clear time is required for the best rewards, and I think it's great fun. In addition, there are features in the settings to enhance the speed of combat, which I did. Never so fast couldn't see what was happening, but fast enough that repeat attempts on challenges were more fun to experiment on strategies with. The early game is naturally comparatively slow, though... it is a metroidvania. Have you ever played one where you had all the movement options out of the gate? Of course not. Part of the formula is finding the new option to access new areas or new parts of previous areas. They handled this very well in my opinion, and the progression feels very solidly and consistently paced. The rest of the game getting boring or people losing interest is a bit hard for me to imagine, given the way the game expands as you invest into it. Monster skill trees become incredibly diverse and the depth team building can offer is very rewarding and interesting. The story might not be world shattering, but I also found it fun and exciting to engage with. The areas are distinct and fun to explore, and each new place having so many new monsters to tame with the aforementioned depth is, to me, amazing. Especially once you start seeing themed ideas in skill trees where the possibilities start to multiply. tl:dr This game is awesome, very fun, extremely satisfying, and rewards your curiosity. The game is very worth the time, and often is on such a fair sale it's undeniable in its value. I love Monster Sanctuary and I wish so badly I could wipe my memories of it to experience it for the first time again. Highly recommend.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 20: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Bought the game on discount and didn't play until a year or two later due to gaming backlog. Mostly went in blind only looking at some screenshots to note graphical choice/fidelity. Fun game which progressively became more enjoyable as I got more creatures. Each monster has skill trees which contain passive traits or active spells/skills. The skill tree system in a creature collector/battler is a pretty cool change and surprise going in blind. My experience has mostly been Pokemon games starting with the original Red/Blue up to Scarlet/Violet, otherwise I played Temtem, Coromon, Lumentale, and a bit of Cassette Beasts. ( I need to restart Cassette Beasts and beat it ) -- Anyway, you get a team of six and battles are 3v3s. So you want to make two separate teams that mesh well together. There's a lot of options for synergy amongst the monsters for team synergy. Never played any of the older Castlevania games or any Metroid game, so I wasn't sure what to expect with creature collector/battler mixed with Metroidvania. For the most part, I take no issue with traversing through the game. It's pretty clear when you get to points in the story or when moving around the map that you'll need either an item or a monster to help you get past an obstacle. Pretty simple, nothing complicated. -- Personal minor gripe; Not a fan of having to go back to an area in the beginning or middle of the game after having to get something late/end game to either open or reach that spot. This is something that bothered me since youth whenever it comes up. It's a bit annoying because I can go several hours of playing and I might have forgotten how far back or where specifically it was on the map, or even if I can access it after whatever point I've gotten by progressing further. Later I learned that you can create markers on the map in-game, but I learned that well...late. This wouldn't be a minor gripe if the/any game let's you know when you can go back to those areas and progress pass it. ---- Again, minor gripe, just wanted to share my view on this gaming aspect/design. Soundtrack is nice. Story nothing crazy, nothing special. Fun game. Only beat it once, but I may return to it once I've cleared some backlog of games. Monster Sanctuary has a Newgame+ with options you can take like RNG monster spawns/locations, items, permadeath.
What Pokemon should have been. Imagine a combat system so addictive you're actually *excited* to jump into the next random encounter because you can't wait to get that last experience point to unlock a new ability on your monster's skill tree or you've been crafting new synergies and want to test out an experimental team. It's _that_ engaging. As for the story, it's whatever. I found myself skipping throug the dialogue often (haha). The monster designs are more akin to what you'd see in Monster Rancher than Pokemon or Digimon, which is totally fine by me. Honestly it's everything you could ever ask for in a monster taming RPG. They took the Pokemon formula and PERFECTED it by improving every single thing (about the gameplay that is. Maybe not the music, story, or designs, but even those elements are more than passable in a game like this). All in all it's a SOLID reccomend. Do yourself a favour and give it a spin!
