About
Monster Lily, a darkly comic, deeply tactical dungeon crawler:
A traditional roguelike packed with unique, often surprising mechanics.
Built around tactical combat, item synergy, and positioning.
Procedural dungeons that feel hand-crafted.
Enemies defined by their distinctive abilities.
Animations & soundtrack that push ASCII to its limits.
Content Notice: Monster Lily contains themes of body transformation, urination, and other mature themes. These elements are presented through text and symbolic ASCII art, with an emphasis on dark humor and satire rather than explicit imagery.
Monster Lily rewards creativity. Mix weapons, items, and strange powers - even the less dignified kind - to survive impossible odds. Here's just a brief example of nearly 100 unique items & abilities:
Use a Door Toy to create a locked door, useful for escaping or trapping a horde of monsters.
Drink fluids that impart special powers, such as Ogre, Faerie, and Shadow.
Wield a Battle Fan, dealing more damage as you dance around your enemies.
Try the Claw, which multiplies damage with sustained hits.
Or, if all else fails… unleash your bladder.

Combat, like the rest of Monster Lily, is all about tactics. Success in battle depends on positioning, instincts, and seizing every chance for critical damage.
Monster Lily is hard, especially early game when there aren't many resources available. Don't give up! Every 8 levels offers a checkpoint, along with a scoring system that rewards skillful play. To see the true ending, you’ll have to make it to the end without a single death.
Monster Lily is built for keyboard-only play in the classic roguelike style. If you haven’t played this way before, there’s a brief learning curve, but it becomes second nature fast. The Smooth Walk System makes movement easy and natural: just hold a movement key in the direction you want to go.

I thought I didn't like rogue-like's but guess I was wrong. Even though the whole game is random it still feels like your fault when you die which makes the game really addicting. Great atmosphere too. Highly recommended!
Edit, since this isnt said anywhere on the page other than the little mature content description warning, this game borders heavily on being a porn game and depicts themes that can be upsetting to certain audiences - ie: forced temporary sex change, monster ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or forced impregnation. The fact that this isnt listed on the steam page is genuinely mortifying. The game is very good do not get me wrong, but these themes are omnipresent and should be advertised properly to potential buyers, especially as a lot of them depict themes that are really out there. --------------- The game itself is really really good. Clearly inspired by brogue and innovating on that classic formula. A bit hard to recommend to complete beginners in the traditional RL genre as brogues do very little in terms of hand holding and the early game is easpecially brutal. I really like the games potion and leveling system. All enemies have in depth and adequate descriptions so no death ever feels like you got cheated. The systems interact in many ways that make it really fun to discover new combos. The dungeon generation is VERY impressive. All the levels feel unique and fun and provide many tools for varying play. Visuals and audio are rather pleasing. The little art that is there is nice.
Brogue, but freaky. An actually well made brogue adjacent roguelike, with a very unique setting.
Item based, Real traditional roguelike ^^ I previously played 3h of the demo too, it's slow and tactical, difficult and lewd (in ASCII) ! If you like Brogue you will feel already familiar with Monster Lily.
Fans of traditional roguelikes, rejoice. This one here builds on the fundamental staples of the genre with a modern sensibility, an intriguing premise, and a horny mind. I have barely scratched its surface, but its atmosphere, imaginative gameplay, and Japanese-flavored, raunchy sense of humor have already stolen my heart. Most importantly, it has made me very conscious of the importance of staying hydrated.
Reminds me of SilQ and Infra Arcana -- fascinating. excited to play edit: good dungeon generation!
Is this that gender fluid I've heard so much about?
Great, great, wonderfully great ASCII game. well designed modern, tactical roguelike. It follows the modern RL design principles really well; ambient music (really good), lots of sounds, accessible controls schemes, and really solid visual appeal. I played a lot of the demo and will be playing a lot more of the full game. mature content is totally optional, even if you do enable it's really based in humor at its core. very, very tactical. you'll have a lot of tools in your metaphorical toolbelt to play with. positioning is key to success, if you like that you'll probably enjoy Monster Lily. very fair price, give it a try or play the demo!
This game refuses to hold your hand, and is very difficult. But if you can get past that (and the super weird fetish mechanics lol) its a really really game!
