This game feels like a dumbed-down Monster Hunter. The hunting part is more or less gone; it's mostly just slaying or capturing. We don't actually need to track down our target because the game automatically tells us where it is. The Seikret sends us there in no time, so we don't get to know the maps the way we did in the older games. Most materials and gathering points are already shown on the map too, so the sense of exploration is largely gone. The game never needed to be open world. The performance hit simply isn't worth it. The visuals aren't impressive enough to justify it, and some textures can look downright ugly at times. The story didn't do much for me either. I never really cared about Nata. The rest of the expedition, though, is great. Alma and Gemma are huge improvements over World's Handler at the base level. As for the customisation, this is a major plus. A huge part of the game is hunting a monster and turning it into a new set of gear so Capcom had to get this right, which they did. I love that we're able to wear either the male or female armour pieces and freely mix and match them into a set. That's a fantastic change, and there are some amazing combinations out there if you're into fashion hunting. But overall, I can't recommend Monster Hunter Wilds in its current state. It feels like something is missing - sauce. The expansion might eventually give the game the depth it desperately needs, but right now it feels more like Monster Fighter than Monster Hunter, and man, I'm a little worried about what that means for the future of the series. Oh and the game has like £460 worth of pointless DLCs. I know Capcom do it with all their recent games and that they aren't P2W stuff but its still lame to see. I hate how Triple A gaming is now just shareholders looking at numbers and ♥♥♥♥ and making decisions for what they think is best to maximise profit.

have not got to play much, i started playing when i had my gtx 1070 8gb in, and it looked like pure dookie. i upgraded to a ASRock Radeon RX 9070 XT Monster Hunter Wilds Edition (won the gpu and the game key through sweepstakes)..... and it crashes. every single time. loads up fine, get in game. start moving, and bam.... crash. so far its only done it with this game and forza 5. with the setup combination i have i guess a very few handful of games just do not like it.
I feel like this is the most bareboned monster hunter they created yet, it feels empty there's no variety and it felt souless playing from start to the point i got burn'd out because of lack endgame. In previous games you have at least 30 monsters (in the endgame) to fight and have a good time (or not). Here instead i felt like i was fighting the same 3 monsters: seregios, raydau and the mf gogmazios. There's no incentive to grind or at least help other people going through the tutorial phase of the game because there's no scaling and you'll feel op AF and ruin lower HR players experience (some think this is good, but i think this is bad) Don't let me start with the main story of the game because they learned nothing from previous games. You cannot play with a friend the story quests because you have watched the cutscenes first AND THEN quit and join your friend, have they learn nothing from world? I litteraly felt asleep one time because they force spoonfeed you the "majestic lore of the world" and you have to slow travel and listen npc yapping for no reason. The main reason i bought this game is to listen people yap that's right. I don't know because this game COSTS SEVENTY EUROS FULL PRICE and they sell you a piece of the pie because they know they can make more money selling the expansion which is stupid and i hate this practice. And the fact is still unplayable without FG tells capcom can't make open world games anymore. (Remember DD2?)
This game is THE WORST Monster Hunter game the franchise has come out with yet. As someone who has fully played through Monster Hunter Wilds up to Chapter 6, I genuinely wanted to enjoy this game, but instead, I am extremely disappointed. I’ve also played Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise (including their DLCs), and in comparison, Monster Hunter Wilds feels like a significant step backward in almost every way. - First and foremost, the performance issues are unacceptable. Even though I didn’t play at launch, I had already heard how bad things were.. and somehow, they’re still not fixed. I started playing just last week with my partner, and despite having better-than-minimum specs, the game runs terribly. Every time I load into an area, I’m often met with these uncanny, hexagon-like NPC models where you can literally see their eye sockets. It’s so unsettling. The audio is just as bad: voice lines either don’t play at all or come in heavily delayed, and the music randomly bugs out mid-gameplay. The performance overall feels very sloppy, which is frustrating considering how much time the developers have had to address these issues. - Multiplayer is another massive downgrade. One of the best parts of previous Monster Hunter games was how seamless it felt to play with others. In Wilds, it feels unnecessarily complicated. My partner and I constantly had to do quests separately just to regroup in the same lobby, which completely defeats the purpose of cooperative play. Even when using link parties, we experienced frequent disconnections from each other despite having zero internet issues on our end (we're on the same wi-fi). It makes what should be a fun, shared experience feel tedious and frustrating. There were even some quests where we had to finish quests solo that were meant to be played together. - The monsters themselves are also a huge letdown. They’re not particularly interesting, and more importantly, THEY ARE NOT CHALLENGING! While it was nice to see some returning monsters from previous games, it feels like the game relies on them because the new monsters lack any real intimidation or presence. I was able to use the same Rey Dau II Light Bowgun for my entire playthrough without running into any real difficulty. Yes, hunts took longer at times, but there was never a point where I felt pushed to adapt, improve, or rethink my build. In Worlds and Rise, you’re thrown into difficult encounters early. You fail quests, you die multiple times, and that challenge is what makes the grind enjoyable. In Wilds, that sense of progression and accomplishment is completely missing. It’s far too easy to breeze through the story and grind at an unreasonably fast pace without ever feeling challenged. - The maps are also mid at best. There’s nothing particularly unique or memorable about them and they feel like recycled ideas from previous games without any standout features. Exploration doesn’t feel rewarding, and the environments don’t leave a lasting impression. - As for the story, it starts off promising but quickly falls apart. The game spends about three chapters building up a good narrative, only to essentially throw that away once you reach High Rank. The quests become uninteresting, there’s no real buildup, and the monsters lack any sort of aura that makes them feel important. By the time I reached the final quests in Chapter 6, I was honestly shocked at how lackluster they were. The ending feels rushed, incomplete, and incredibly underwhelming.. like the game just abruptly wraps things up without delivering a satisfying conclusion. I don’t normally leave reviews on games because I'm a casual player, but this one genuinely frustrated me enough to speak up. I LOVE the Monster Hunter franchise. It has become one of the very few games I can also play with my partner, as they are picky with games. I’ve had amazing experiences with MH World and MH Rise.. but MH Wilds, on the other hand, falls short in nearly every category. As someone who isn’t deeply embedded in the hardcore community but still genuinely enjoys the series, this was a huge disappointment. Especially for a $70 game. Wow. Just wow. (¬_¬")
