Mohism: Battle of Words

A detective visual novel set in fantasy medieval China (wuxia style). The game is a visual novel with minimal animations. Backgrounds and characters are drawn as watercolor paintings with thick lines. This style works well with wuxia setting. The music is inspired by traditional styles. Voice-over is limited to primary story dialogues. Gameplay is similar to Ace Attorney - a visual novel with crime scene exploration, dialogues and deductions. The centerpieces of gameplay are the word battles, a more streamlined take on cross-examination from AA-series with time-limit. There is a difficulty setting that can decrease the time pressure. The game is mostly linear except 2 major choices at the end of prologue and the end of the game. These affect the conclusion of the story. The story fits into the wuxia genre with different political/martial arts sects and intrigue after accession of new Ming dynasty. The main character assists with investigations of murders and there is a background plot that connects them to a different degree. It was enjoyable and interesting and not as over-the-top as AA series. The localization is a mixed bag. The game starts in Chinese and must be switched to English in its menu (settings are the second choice on the main screen). Translations are generally legible and fairly good, with some exceptions. These may slightly complicate some deductions. English text formatting has a weird word wrapping, which is probably caused by engine made for chinese characters, but it is readable with no problems.

Ace Attorney im Wuxia stiel, das spiel macht unglaublich viel Spaß und hat 4 fälle mit einer spannenden Geschichte. Die englische Übersetzung ist durch erraten im menü zu finden. Die Übersetzung selbst ist leider nicht perfekt und an manschen stellen, führt dies zu Problemen die auch bei frühen Ace Attorney Games passieren können, man weiß was das Problem ist aber was ist wo zu präsentieren? Zum glück kann man brute Forcen ohne wirklich bestraft zu werden aufgrund von unendlichen Wiederbelebungen. Es ist etwas unklar ob es mehr als 2 enden gibt aber es sieht so aus als wären es nur 2 es hängt von der Letzten Entscheidung ab, also vorher speichern ... welches ende besser ist kann ich kaum sagen. Die wohl größeste schwäche des Spiels ist der Epilog, für meinen Geschmack bleibt das Schicksal einiger wichtiger Charaktere zu offen. Evtl. war einmal ein Sequel geplant aber die Entwickler scheinen enttäuscht um die Umsätze des Spiels zu sein, denn auch wenn sie interesse haben können sie nicht weiter daran Arbeiten. ABER DENNOCH, die Epiloge sind nicht schlecht. Die Story ist super, die Charaktere sind super, und ich wünschte es gäbe ein Sequel. Ein Spiel das ca. 75% so gut ist wie ein Ace Attorney spiel mit komplett anderem Setting für nur 10 Euro?! 100%ige Kauf Empfehlung

There's bugs in the game, especially in specific Rift sections where if you click on "retry" the game freezes and crashes.

第四章 某一回合舌战 第五句 选水迹 不给过？我查所有攻略都是选这个，是坏档了嘛？卡到最后一章要揭秘之前整这出？修复之前不给好评。

The game rule similar to ace attorney series and other choice in story doesn't have much impact. 4 chapters and my play time is around 6 hours in Simplified Chinese language, Some conflicts is not obviously connected to evidence, it can be more accurate. Give it a try if you want to feel a Chinese ancient version of ace attorney without high expectation. [spoiler] not sure why telling truth is a bad end.. [/spoiler]
