The potential for this game is 10. Actual is a 1. The game itself is ok, but there is zero effort put into explaining the game's special effects. For example, there are powerups on the course. Cool. What do they do? Who knows? I can tell one will let you slow your ball to keep it from going off the course, but if you never played before, where is this in readable rules? User courses can, of course, be garbage. "Woo! This course is so hard you'll be 5000 over par and 24 hours later to finish." A big turnoff from the start is official games where you' can seriously go 50 over par despite best efforts. Let me point out to the developers that if reasonable players can't finish a course without being 5 over par, you've failed in course design. Further for user content, thumb up or thumb down CAN make sense, but with no room for comments or, "yeah, this course isn't perfect, but it's good" or other intermediate responses just makes users create throwaway courses. The software is good. The support and content suck something awful.
This is a review for The Steam Awards. Played one round and had no difficulty with setting up or gameplay. Looks like one I could definitely chill to and having an editor with workshop items means never ending hole options. Good value.

Minigolf Maker is a really fun game where you make your own minigolf courses. The possibilities are endless as you can make small course or big ones. This game should definitely be more popular as it's really fun when you start to make courses and play them with your friends! The environments are really cool as you can have courses based on a beach; the water looks really good. Overall this is an amazing game! Hope it gets more popular.
I am a creative type of person that likes golf. I have PGA Tour 2k23 too. But, why I got 2k23 was mainly for the Course Designer so I could make my own courses. Thus, when I ran across Mini-Golf Maker (MGM), it peeked my interest. As I usually do, I went to YouTube to find videos of MGM. I found a few, but not as much as I expected. I saw glimpses of the Course Designer (Maker) and was interested. However, not finding a whole lot on the intricate editing process or tutorials, I was left lacking a true picture of what I could or could not do in the designer. I did get some solid understanding of what courses were made with MGM, but, I wasn’t really interested in fantasy/unrealistic mini-golf. I was looking for something more realistic. Even though I could build realistic mini-golf in 2k23, it lacked a lot of traditional mini-golf assets and things to build good mini-golf courses. And to be fair 2k23 wasn’t made to make mini-golf. Users just hacked at it and made some quirky courses. Even though I don’t have a good understanding of what MGM could do, I decided to go ahead and purchase MGM to see what I could do. PROS: - Program runs great and very responsive/stable - Easy to use - Stock courses and User created courses are available - Single or Multiplayer (online) - You can make your own fantasy/unrealistic courses in designer - Fair amount of greens, props and environments in designer CONS - Making realistic courses are very difficult in designer - Not a lot of traditional realistic props and objects for realistic courses in designer - Grass pokes through greens if green sections are too low to ground in designer - No way to copy objects from one hole to another in designer - After “joining” green sections and then distorting them (curves, bumps etc), broken seams will appear and can be a pain to fix. - No custom text object for signs in designer - Lack of detailed documentation COMMUNITY SUPPORT - There are some videos for game play, and very little to none as far as tutorials for the designer - They have No official discord server. And the one “unofficial” one I tried the owner was very rude to me, so I left. - There is also Steam community, but it’s a hit or miss if you get responded too. MY OBSERVATIONS I took a chance on MGM because there aren’t a lot of documentation/videos/tutorials on using MGM. And after trying it for a few days, I was kind of disappointed because creating realistic courses is very difficult to pull off. With the lack of “realistic” props, greens and a few missing features, I was left with this conclusion… This program is great for kids and fantasy/unrealistic mini-golf; but to be fair, its genre is geared to arcade-like gameplay. So, I get that. CONCLUSION Based on my observations, my expectations for a realistic course are not there anymore, only because I could not get a true sense of what MGM can do in the designer; nor from experience using it. Do I regret purchasing MGM, even though the price is low? No. If I work hard enough I should be able to get a respectful course that isn’t all hyped up with gimmicks and unrealism. I you are wanting to just have fun and don’t care about realistic mini-golf, then BUY IT NOW… this program is GREAT for it!!! If you are like me, wanting some more adult-like realistic mini-golf, then MGM may not be for you. I would still get it though if you just like creating stuff. For the price, its just a solid/stable working program! UPDATE 2-31-23 I just found out from the dev that he is NO longer adding new features to the game. So, I assume maybe just bug fixes, but not sure. SO, based on that fact alone, I wouldn't recommend getting this unless you don't care if its not upgraded for the future.
goooood
I seriously don't know why this game isn't more popular. . . Like HOW???
Really great course making tools(probably the best) and I personally enjoy the more "weighty" physics of the play. It seems more realistic and challenging to me than "Golf With Your Friends". But unfortunately the game is completely dead online so unless you have a group that reliably plays it is a very hollow experience. Tons of potential here, too bad.
As good as everything else seems to be with this game, the swinging mechanic really kills it. It's not fun to precisely time a power bar with all the moving obstacles on the courses. It's completely trial and error instead of skill based. The "drag and release" option simply didn't work for me when I selected it. I wish there was a mechanic like golf it where you physically move your mouse to hit the ball.
very fun game amazing with more than one person I like playing and making fun courses
NICE GAME! TOP FUN!
