Warning: Broken Game! This game has design/implementation defects that will render this unplayable for many gamers. The game doesn't display properly at resolutions over 1080p, rendering outside the viewable area of the display, which makes the UI unusable. The game cannot be launched or played on modern gaming rigs.
Miner Wars 2081 is an ancient game from 2012. It's a whopping 12 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for the typical features of modern gaming PCs, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on contemporary machines. The game looks and feels dated. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an old game. This seems to have be lingering on Steam with an inflated price to try profit from abandonware. And abandonware this is... basically it's a cheap and nasty ripoff of Descent (a 6DOF shooter where you're a spaceship in tunnels, ok), except it doesn't work very well and despite taking a lot of money from gamers for this while in alpha, they didn't add all the features they were supposed to. So this ripped off both Descent, and gamers. As mentioned, it's apparent that little to no testing for the game was done, at least on modern gaming PCs. In fullscreen, the game doesn't display properly, with the game area drawn outside the viewable space. This is caused by the developer not bothering to ensure the game works on resolutions over 1080p, with very high resolution monitors that use resolution scaling. Because the game area is not drawn correctly, it doesn't map to the mouse pointer properly, so the game itself simply cannot be played. Gamers shouldn't be forced to accept defective products just because developers don't bother with basic testing on PC. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? The developer is deliberately and unethically trying to scam gamers into paying them the far too high price of $5 USD for a game they know is broken. Don't give it to them. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "The Witcher 2", "Dishonored" or "Just Cause 3". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.

I got this game with the space engineers physical release nearly 10 years ago, i wasn't part of the people who paid for early access who felt so betrayed by the devs and honestly I barely know anything about the development either. The problem I felt with this game is that it's just very boring after the first few missions. I was only playing because i wanted to know why there was a space fourth reich, but I got tired of fighting the same enemies over and over and following a bland plot with bland at best, annoying at worst characters with not great voice acting for the majority of them. To the game's credit, it does try to change the gameplay a little bit and introduce new weapons and ammo types, but it doesn't really make up for it, not to mention that the multiplayer and level editor don't work either because theyre both connected to servers that aren't up anymore. Honestly just avoid and buy a better 6DOF game, however if you do decide to play it could you leave a comment under my review telling me why theres a space fourth reich and also if the game gets any better after the crusader slaver mission. (btw apparently the "russian" text is all english but in cyrillic script apparently. Not really a criticism, just kinda funny.)
Honestly, why is this still for sale? And why was it recommended to me after I removed it from my library permanently?
I found this game to be unsatisfactory. It experienced significant lag on my computer, and its gameplay mechanics were rather unremarkable. The level editor proved to be confusing and lacked user-friendliness. The combat was both bland and overly simplistic, leaving the outcomes feeling as though they were determined by a mere coin toss. Unfortunately, the multiplayer functionality was completely non-functional, and despite extensive efforts to find a solution on forums, it seems the developers have abandoned addressing this issue. In summary, I consider it a subpar game. I would only suggest it as a last resort for weekend boredom when seeking something slightly unconventional. Even during a $3.00 sale, I do not recommend it.

Commander Keen is the only good game to ever hold the devs name. This pile of trash should be Commander Ass.
Quite literally the only thing I have to say is, Keen Software, are you ever going to pull your thick fragging heads out of your asses and come back to finish this atrocity? You had the benefit of the backing of the Descent community and you gave up on it due to what, a short attention span? Now "Space Engineer's" has been your darling success, and you can't be bothered to come back and finish the job? Do better. Cannot recommend this game in it's current state, and the fact that they're still trying to sell it is a joke. Play Everspace 1 & 2. Don't buy this mistake.
It is this game that makes me refuse to buy anything else that this company makes, Space Engineers, their gemstone will forever be known as the Frankenstein monster of Keem and there's nothing they can do that will ever change that. They canniblized this game and Castle Engineer for one single other game and tried to hide that they even made a total of three failures before their single one good game. Its honestly the first time I will call a studio pathetic because frankly this is the only one that I know out of my entire library of nearly 800+ games (760 which are paid for) that has ever had a studio literally abandon it entirely without saying a damn word just so they can go and bunker down with their only success in life, refusing to accept that the other three games exist like some deranged parent going full hog on disowning all of their children save the one they snog when the husband is working. Is this harsh? Yes, it is, I won't deny is a harsh review, but am I sorry? No I'm not, not the the least bit because when I have to say that Keem makes Blizzard look like decent people, you know there's a problem with management and ethics, hell I question if I should imply that the studio has work ethic beyond "Feral Untrained Wannabe Game Makers Release Unfinished Products then Murder the Product for its only Good traits" but thats to long of a title, instead I should say something else but given how long ago they abandoned this game and its entire community to boot I'm not going to Bad game, unfinished, completely broken mechanics and unfinished story to boot, thats the kicker, they could of at least had the honor to give us that, but we don't even get that, all we get is "Oh big bad empire builds the next Public TM-Death Star and its up to a single miner to go full Star Wars on them" which zero context.
