Pretty disappointing. I understand that the Rage Software made lower budget racing games, but this one seems the worst of out the bunch. The incredible basic and static menu, the awful sound design, the small selection of vehicles, no damage model, the annoying collisions, having no multiplayer like their previous titles, etc. Plus, the game keeps freezing / crashing on me, and I'm not sure what is entirely causing it. $3 is cheap enough that it won't break the bank, but even then I can't recommend it. You are far better off with e-Racer.
Maybe if you're only nostalgic for this "bargain bin" of a racing game, this was and is low budget as it gets. Graphics for 2002 are fine, however, the entire game can be finished in about 20 minutes. Collision physics are like in flash games and pretty bad even for 2002. Just get e-Racer from the same devs, it's a year older and a waaaaaaaayyyy better game. Even a better looking one.
Honestly the first mission was pretty hard but after that the game become balanced and soooo much fun i definately recommend this game
The only challenge in the game is the very first race, then it somehow decides to become balanced. Overall, you should get it if you like old racing games. It's cheap, short, fun.
Not Recommended – Poorly Optimized & Underwhelming
Midnight GT is a major letdown. The game suffers from severe optimization issues, constant stuttering, crashes, and bugs that even forced my PC to crash. With only four maps, it feels shallow and unfinished. Despite marketing that hints at a nostalgic throwback, it doesn’t resemble classic titles at all. The AI is far too easy to beat, and the physics feel completely off, making the gameplay dull and unrealistic. Overall, it’s hard to recommend this game in its current state.
a pretty fun, short, simple game. it provides like 15-20 minutes of content but it's a nice throwback to the past
OLD School
This game is extremely dated but it doesn't do much to make it worth while to play. Midnight GT: Primary Racer is a arcade racing game where you simply race on tracks themed with the midnight racing scene within Japan. While getting on and unlocking everything can take you between 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how skilled you are, you'll find yourself unlocking all the tracks and additional cars. Driving those other cars are maybe clearly for personal enjoyment and can unlock nothing more. The game tracks are hard to appreciate. At the time, those smooth roads maybe made this game worth driving on, something good at the time but hard to see, it's just interesting how the surrounding area looks dull despite how hard they've decorated and make those tracks look like they're worth driving through. Sometimes the tracks can look outrageous sometimes as they try to offer ways to guide the player to complete the races. Unlocking cars and finding yourself racing against opponents who drive the same cars you've just unlocked. It's another one of those games, where it feels like it's pointless unlocking them in the first place. The game has six tracks to race on, two of which, are the same because one event allows the player to go in the reverse direction, maybe for the developers to make up and cheaply add something more to the game, which the help of the lore of Japanese midnight street racing to have that happen. Seeing this game was made by the same studio as e-Racer, which is worth checking out, it's blows my mind how this game lacks so much for when it was released.
