Nice puzzle game with a cool exploration of sound interaction. Good progression of challenges with new mechanics presented in a very good pacing. It was hard to stop playing: can't wait for next playing session! P.S: Don't get fooled by first levels, if they looked like too easy for you: it really gets harder and harder...
Mini Tone is an ambitious but ultimately incredibly flawed puzzle game. All levels take on the same basic challenge: Shoot a ball so that it ricochets off all white objects and end off in the end circle. As you progress through, more mechanics are adding on top, such as white lines that must be passed through instead of ricocheted off of, or black objects that don't disappear when hit. On that mechanical level it's a very solid game, but it falls apart on everything else. Almost every level ends up becoming a game of trial and error. Even if you know what angle and position you need to fire from, the lack of any ability to fine tune either aspect means you could be spending dozens of tries doing your best to adjust your shots so they go down the optimal path, especially on levels that require a non-cardinal/diagonal angle. Which just leaves the sound design, which is, to be perfectly honest, atrocious. None of the sound effects sound nice, especially not the level complete sparkling sound effect. The game tries to pull off it's notes rising in an octave (so the first note = do, second = re, third = mi, etc. etc.) but it does not sound good rising up and loops pretty badly, especially noticeable in some levels where your ball is constantly travelling through strum lines. This is the biggest mark against the game considering it's meant to be a music puzzler.
While fun to learn, some of the levels just become a painful 5-15 minutes of trial and error getting the absolute correct position. If that level of precision is required it would be nice to at least have keyboard input for the angle & position. In the end the game becomes less fun and challenging and more tedius, and for that reason I'm going to not recommend it unless you're going for the 100%.
--------------------------------------------------- I see no angle to recommend this.
My review to Mini Tone I recommended exclusively to people who love physics games with lots of trial and error, with the interface as a bonus obstacle. Trail and error there is a lot in this game, for me is too much! The levels quickly devolve into constant retries because it is really hard to exactly reproduce the previous attempt and then adjust it minimally to reach a working solution. I think with a better level design and better mechanics this game would have more potential!
I do not recommend this game!
This is a really fun puzzle game where you need to remove the blocks and enter the orb while create sounds along the way. The first few levels were quite easy, however some of the levels are really difficult and a small change can make a big difference. It takes about 80 minutes to unlock all the achievements
