Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 19.71/day in the week to Aug 10 → 20.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

thank you atlus for blessing me with the best characters in fiction: heismay and strohl
I went into Metaphor: ReFantazio having heard it called “fantasy Persona” and in the most surface-level sense, sure, you can see the family resemblance. Calendar system, bonds/followers, turn-based combat, social stat grinding, carefully scheduled dungeon dives. The Atlus skeleton is very much visible. But calling this game a Persona reskin feels like calling Elden Ring “Dark Souls with a horse.” Metaphor feels less like Atlus copying itself and more like Atlus making a statement about why these systems worked in the first place. The combat is excellent. It keeps that classic SMT/Persona pressure of “one wrong affinity check and your entire party gets bodied into the wall,” but the Archetype system gives it a much broader tactical feel. You are constantly building, rebuilding, inheriting skills, swapping roles, finding weird synergies, and eventually discovering that yes, capitalism is a viable damage type if you put enough Tycoons in a room. I finished most of the endgame with a Prince, Royal Knight, Faker, and various forms of financially motivated violence. By the end, I was level 99, had every Archetype maxed, had done the optional dragons, Coliseum, secret boss chains, and beat the powered-up final boss. The journey from start to finish is extremely satisfying. The late-game grind can get ridiculous if you are chasing achievements. Masks, talismans, golden beetles, Royal Archetypes, MAG farming, secret bosses, NG+ requirements. There are moments where the game stops being a fantasy epic and briefly becomes a spreadsheet grind. Some players will bounce off that. I almost did. But the core loop is strong enough that even the grind had a strange ritual quality to it. “One more dungeon run” became “one more symbolic descent into the collective unconscious, also I need 400,000 more MAG because the amount needed for maximum builds is ludacris” Story-wise, this is where the game really earns its crown. Metaphor tackles racism, religion, political manipulation, nihilism, anxiety, class, inherited trauma, and the danger of people surrendering their inner burden to external saviors. It does this with about as much subtlety of an anime cathedral falling on your head, but somehow it works. The world is built on hidden history, buried truths, false narratives, and institutions that keep people weak by controlling what they believe reality is. That gives the story a very strong Gnostic flavor: the visible world is not the whole truth, authority is suspect, memory is fractured, and salvation comes through awakening rather than obedience. The “humans” are monsters. The fantasy novel describes something like our world. The past is buried under religious and political myth. The self is split, forgotten, reconstructed, and finally made whole. This is not just a fantasy story about becoming king. It is a story about remembering what the kingdom actually is. There is also a strong Jungian layer: Archetypes are not just job classes, they are ideals that characters embody through suffering, anxiety, and growth. The game’s central message is not “ignore fear” or “destroy weakness,” but transform anxiety into strength. Louis, the main villain, is one of the better Atlus antagonists because he is not simply wrong. He sees the rot. He sees the cowardice of people hiding behind institutions, gods, kings, and inherited lies. His answer is just monstrous: a world where only the strong deserve to exist. The game’s answer is more difficult and more humane: people need to become stronger, yes, but not by abandoning the weak. By helping them awaken. That is what made the ending land for me. Not because it surprised me mechanically. By the time I reached the final boss, I was so overpowered that I basically folded him like paper. But because the game had earned its emotional and symbolic payoff. It is optimistic without being stupid. It believes fantasy matters, not because dragons are real, but because every civilization, every moral system, every revolution, every better version of ourselves begins as something imagined before it becomes embodied. Visually, the game is gorgeous in that aggressive Atlus way: menus with attitude, painterly environments, strange monster designs, wild color choices, and UI so stylish it occasionally feels like the game is bullying other RPGs. The music is also excellent, especially once the chanting, orchestral bombast, and battle themes start fusing into a religious disco. My complaints are real but not dealbreakers. Some dungeons are a bit long or visually repetitive. Some late-game achievement requirements are obscure enough that you may want a guide unless you enjoy discovering you locked yourself out of something ten hours ago. Multiple saves will help in case you need to back track. The calendar pressure can be stressful if you are a completionist. And the game is absolutely not short. My playtime went well over 120 hours, and I still have the New Game+ superboss left to do. But in the end, Metaphor: ReFantazio is one of the better JRPGs I have played in some time. It is mechanically rich, narratively ambitious, symbolically dense, and unafraid to be sincere in a cultural moment where sincerity is often treated like a disease. It is a game about fantasy, but not fantasy as escapism. Fantasy as rehearsal. Fantasy as prophecy. Fantasy as the dangerous little seed reality keeps trying to bury and hide. Highly recommended, especially if you like Atlus games, political fantasy, mythic psychology, religious symbolism, Gnostic undertones, or turn-based combat systems that let you defeat baddies through friendship, self-actualization, and throwing absurd amounts of money at the problem.

The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 3: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

great game
apparently making a game that actually works is hard
Peak
peak game that suffers only by being in the shadow of persona even though it is good enough to stand beside it play it please (:
Finally got a game clear save for Metaphor: ReFantazio so thought I'd write a short review. Overall a solid game, I do recommend. Save progress shows about 97 hrs in game for the game file. Had a great time with this game, very enjoyable. The story was solid; guessed a few bits but was able to surprise me at many other spots. Gameplay is turn based with a max party size of four, the MC always being on field. Caracter's all have their own level and the main mechanic is being able to freely change your class outside of combat. Leveling bonds unlocks more classes and the ability to carry over more skills from your previous classes, allowing you to specialize or hybridize characters to roles as you choose. Out of combat the game is similar to other Atlas games where it is calendar based and you pick what you do each day with having to clear checkpoints by a particular time. I played through the game on hard and only needed to knock the difficulty down once because I ended up in a dungeon higher level then I intended and didn't want to waste the days it would take to get back. Otherwise the difficulty felt right with how I like to play these games. For achievement hunters, you will need a guide to hit everything in one playthrough, it is possible but can miss things which will cause you to play through it again. There is no post game, simply a new game plus where bond levels and character levels reset.
