METAL SLUG

I have now 1cc'd the game and thus my opinion is valid: This game is perfect. Play it, go for the 1cc. The steam version has an ugly and awkward menu. I'm not sure exactly how accurate of an emulation this version is but it seemed fine to me. I like the optional scanline filter.

First Metal Slug game in series, play if you want to know how First game looks. But playable only with 600x800 resolution, window mode. Because of ancient game engine restrictions.

A classic. Metal Slug was one of the top (2D) shoot 'em up games when it first came out. Its pixel art still holds up today, with impressive animations and some destructable environments. It may be a little short considering the price, but I think the goal of such games was ( and is, since the leaderboards are still active ) to beat other people's high-scores. Of course playing for fun is also alright, but If you're not familiar with it or similar games you'll die a lot. Which isn't fun and will end up ruining the score. Aside from that there's the option for local and online co-op which is awesome. I believe the story is inspired by WWII, it's about you trying to stop an evil army leader. I noticed some red flags with a white circle and a black symbol in the middle, so that's probably a hint too. One thing which kinda bothered me are the random slowdowns. It also affects the music, kinda lame. Looked it up and it has something to do with the game's engine not being able to process too many sprites at once or something like that.

I love METAL SLUG, especially the first one and second one. The art is stellar, the gameplay is great, it's sounds are iconic and bosses memorable. The Stage 1 OST of METAL SLUG 1 is engrained into my brain, that's how many times I listened to it (for both good and bad reasons). ...this port is just okay though. You'd be probably better off just emulating it with MAME for a more authentic (and less laggy) experience.

Легенда інтернет-клубів першої Sony Playstation. Приємно, що є в стімі і все нормально працює на сучасних системах.

Ich kenne das spiel eigentlich schon seit 30 Jahren aus den Arcade-Automaten meiner Urlaubsdestination bei Oma in Spanien, von daher ein richtiger Profi seit klein auf ;) und froh, das man hier nicht Unmengen an Peseten reinbuttern muss um das Endlevel zu erreichen. Ich hatte bisher alle Teile immer auf der Nintendo Switch gespielt, da diese aber bei den Kiddies ist, hab ichs mir hier noch geholt. Top Sidescroller Run&Gun. Kann ich durchweg empfehlen auch für Challenges.
