this ♥♥♥♥ a hiden gem
I've been playing Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition for almost 6 hours now, and suddenly I'm stuck. At first, everything seemed a little slow and uncomfortable, but then I got involved: I figured out the crafting, started collecting my weapons, and it became really interesting. Visually — cool pixel graphics, in the spirit of old arcades, but with lots of details. The missions are short but varied, and sometimes they get annoying, especially the bosses — you have to think and not go ahead. The music is cheerful and adapts well to the action. I'm playing alone for now, but I feel like it's going to be a lot more fun working with friends. In general, it's a great thing if you want something old—school, but with modern features. I didn't think I'd get stuck, but now I'm definitely going to move on.
Holy peak, been playing for years.
Mercenary Kings is a genuinely fun game once you understand what it actually is: not Metal Slug, but more of a Monster Hunter-style mission grind with Mega Man movement in a gorgeous pixel art wrapper. The gun crafting system is the real star — mixing shotgun stocks with sniper receivers and experimenting with bounce shots or laser ammo gives you that satisfying "aha" moment when something clicks. That said, the repetitive maps and relentless material farming wear you down hard by the late game, and the mission timer combined with bosses that casually wander off mid-fight are genuinely maddening design choices. If you go in expecting a slow, methodical loot game rather than a run-and-gun and can stomach some grinding, there's a rewarding experience buried here — especially with friends. Grab it on sale.
Bad points from other players' perspectives: -It's not Metal Slug! -It has crafting! Good points from my perspective -It's not Metal Slug! -It has crafting! -Empress has fat, bouncy ballistics!
Uwielbiam tę grę, co zresztą widać po czasie jaki jej poświęciłem i odblokowaniu wszystkich osiągnięć. Dla mnie nie ma wad. To doskonała strzelanka 2D. Jedyne z czym miałem problem, to z synchronizacją pionową i szarpaniem obrazu.
I love Paul Robertson and Metal Slug, but this "perfect child" is too boring and requires too much grind. Played around 5h, and dropped - too boring. Don't recommend.
