Mechanics
Really odd, but also really cool. Mechanically, its identifying factor from other fighters is that each character has three fighting styles: one focusing on stronger one-hit moves, another with simplified controls for rushdown playstyles and a third one focusing on combos with additional charge attacks. Each fighting style has additional perks as well as different variations of attacks and special moves. Part of me wishes that the better aspects of each of the three fighting styles were combined into a single, more refined one, but I also understand that such preferences can be subjective, so I’m happy enough with the freedom to choose.
Audio/visuals
The 31 character roster (including the three team-up character duos) is perfectly fine by modern fighting game standards and includes Neco-Arc, so what more can you ask for really. The soundtrack is pretty good, but maybe a bit too varied, as odd of a complaint as it sounds. Meaning only a handful of songs might stick with you out of the nearly 60 included tracks. The loops of the tracks also seem to be a bit on the short side. The artwork is somewhat outdated but still nice, and the CGs look great.
Story (arcade mode)
As a newcomer to the Nasuverse, I found the arcade’s story somewhat purposely overconvoluted in its terms, but at the same time fairly simplistic in its substance. Still, it was enjoyable to play through.
Additional Criticisms
My only real complaints with the game is that it’s pretty heavy on Z input specials, which I found them impossible to execute on my dualshock 4 controller. The final difficulty spike on the final boss is also fairly significant compared to the rest of the fights in the arcade mode.
Conclusion
Even though it offers a lot of variety, sometimes to the point of fault, Melty Blood is a pretty unique, fun fighter. Its three-style mechanic gives players much more freedom than most games on the genre, backed up by a solid roster and great artwork. It’s also somewhat held back by its overreliance on Z-input specials on standard controllers. Final Score: 8/10

Quer jogar online?
Soundtrack and stage arts are fire, gameplay not as smooth as type lumina but still really good and more of a classic arcade fighter style. It's got Ryogi Shiki in it.

Its ait. The music and visuals are cool. It has that Arc System Work polish in combat that you would expect. Everything feels snappy, that being said it is a relatively old game and newer fighting games have just managed to make more fitting combat for newer audiences. As a casual fighting game fan, the combat here just feels a bit clunky, there are a lot of different modes to play around with that allow for more accessibility, but it still just ends up a few steps behind the newer generation of fighting games. Someone might want to get into this because of the story. That being said its the final entry in a long running series, the melty blood games that explain this games story aren't available anywhere anymore, same goes for the original timeline tsukihime games. So unless you find a different way to play those games, this games story won't make sense. Its not even that good of a story mode, there is a lot of interesting and cool lore for diehard Nasuverse fans, but overal the story here just serves as an excuse to explain how and why these characters are able to fight each other. To add to that the translation here is very mediocre and doesn't always read naturally. All in all on a sale its like 5 bucks, its definitely worth it just to mess around. So many of the characters in this game are super interesting, cool or fun to play. That cool lore that has built up and the insane design of some characters end up making a pretty fun but slightly outdated fighting game. It just has a very unique appeal that few other games can truly capture, because of that I give it a recommend.
