As someone who loves and plays every tavern game this one is fun and very charming and I can't wait to see what it looks like for the full release
I went into this expecting a simple tavern simulator and was impressed with the scope of it. What surprised me most is the pacing. Too many management and colony games make you spend the first 5–10 hours doing chores before they let you automate anything. Medieval StartUp gets to the fun part quickly. I had trade routes unlocked, employees working, and meaningful automation happening far earlier than I expected. The worker system is the standout feature. Employees aren't just decorative NPCs. You can control schedules, working hours, and task assignments, which makes it feel like you're gradually transitioning from laborer to manager. Hiring that second employee was one of those moments where the game really clicked for me. The tech tree is also much larger than the Steam page suggests. New systems, professions, buildings, and upgrades keep opening up, giving you a constant sense of progression. Every time I thought I understood the game, another layer appeared. The gameplay loop is dangerously addictive: Gather → Craft → Sell → Unlock → Hire → Automate → Expand Then suddenly it's 2 AM. The game isn't perfect. I ran into a tutorial issue where the first apple quest sent me searching all over the map, only to discover apples don't actually spawn until Day 2. There are definitely some Early Access rough edges and occasional confusion. Other players have reported bugs as well, which isn't surprising for a solo-developed Early Access title. That said, the foundation is excellent. The automation systems are already better than many Early Access management games, and the progression keeps pulling you forward. Several reviewers mention the strong worker optimization and addictive gameplay loop, and I completely agree. If you enjoy management games where you start small, build a business, hire workers, and steadily automate your operation, this is an easy recommendation. I really hope the developer keeps pressing forward on this, and leans heavily into improving automation/worker AI, and other aspects so as your 'startup' progresses it truly becomes a full on manager game vs worker game. Just don't be surprised when you sit down to play for 30 minutes and lose an entire evening.
Really good game! Looking forward to more content!!
Pierwsze wrazenie, super. XA
Very cosy little game. 4h+ of game play
Super bon jeu.
This was really fun to play, I love the idea of running a little tavern/inn as well as a little market nearby. Things I would like added in the future would be definitely more employees/workers so that more things can be automated, otherwise I'd like some of the crafting times to be reduced, I found it difficult to stay with doing the tailor or blacksmith business due to how long it takes to craft the clothing at the tailor or the blacksmith things like pots and horseshoes. Otherwise it was really fun, I got and enjoyed getting all of the achievements. :) I look forward to more stuff being added to it. :D Oh and another thing that I'd like is to be able to cut trees myself, otherwise the only ways to get wood is picking up sticks which doesn't give much, or picking up dry branches which is good early game, but they don't seem to grow back so once you have picked all of them up you can't get them anymore. I think I have 2 lumberjacks but I worry it may not be enough to get the amount of wood I need for furniture making as well as making baskets and bundles of wood. But other than that, still really fun to play. I need games like this where it's still fun to keep playing after getting all of the achievements. :D I usually don't often play games much after getting all of the achievements, but I still play this one a bit. I still like it. I will probably keep playing it for a bit because it's still fun to keep the market stands stocked. Especially the baker stand. Though some of the other stands I find there isn't enough materials to keep them stocked, like the fishing stand or clothing/tailor stand. Still, it's fun to keep some of the market stands stocked :)
MOLTO SORPRESO
