Very much a step in the right direction. I've had a lot of fun with clans.

IF YOU LIKE BATTLETECH, THIS IS A REALLY GOOD VERSION. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE.
I hate the clans but this game is so good.
You dare refuse my batchall?
I hesitated buying because all the crash posts in reviews. To my surprise I played through all of the base campaign and am now a few mission into the first dlc and not a single crash so far. I've really enjoyed the game so far. 4/5.
A very solid modern entry in the BT/MW universe. Definitely an improvement from MW5 Mercs in most regards gameplay wise.. UE5 showing off its capabilities. Cinematics are a very nice addon. Overall an entertaining game to kill a week or 2. Although special mention goes to the ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS combat AI of your teammates. yes IT REALLY IS THAT BAD! they will not actively engage in combat when following; will often chicken out and not fire at all even when ordered to do so and have targets in range and not overheating and not out of ammo and with correctly grouped weapons. they will also stand dead still and take fire without dodging when ordered to a point; and they will somehow all gleefully charge headlong into melee range even when not equipped to do so instead of backing off and shoot with their close range weapons... and i am supposed to take the Inner Sphere with "elite" clan troops such as these lmao. It's actually often easier to just order the whole squad on hold at spawn and just fight with the mission allies npc instead. at least those will shoot back! thx pgi (:
I feel like the story-focused approach works much better for the clans, given their role in the invasion was very strictly limited in what planets they could invade. However, and I am aware this is the convention the series has used previously, but on Steam people don't know that - calling this game Mechwarrior 5: Clans made people expect MW5:M but with clans, not an entirely different game. You should have just called it Clans and avoided a massive headache. The game itself is amazing, it's like MW5 with most of the bugs and quirks removed, and streamlined into a narrative driven experience. I am very disappointed that along with a more narrative focused game the missions themselves are VERY limited, you are locked into corridors and hallways and you have ZERO choice about how you engage or when or where. Even so, for what it is, the game is great at it. Again, it's such a different experience from 5 Mercs that you really have to mentally divorce yourself from the other game before playing this.
YOU DARE REFUSE MY BATCHALL!?
Runs great Story driven hand crafted missions are great I can see why people are grumpy about it, but after spending so much hours in Mercenaries, I really enjoyed the story driven on rails campaign. The game is a must have for MW/Battletech fans
