Maze 1: Subject 360 (IHOG) This game has taken the #1 spot of creepiest IHOG that I've ever played. I was looking for something dark and gritty to play, and boy did this one deliver! Options include separate sliders for Music, Ambients, SFX and Voices, plus Full-screen (auto-widescreen), Aspect Correction and Custom Cursor. Choice of three pre-set difficulties, or you can go with "Free Will" mode (choose your own difficulty options). Can be changed at any time. Story: You wake up in a room with no memory of how you got there, and a child's voice happily informs you that you'd better find a way out, or you'll never leave... The game is reminiscent of Trapped: The Abduction (not available on Steam), but with a level of horror that I've not seen since True Fear: Forsaken Souls. The story progresses through a series of cutscenes, clues that we find and interactive storybooks. We don't exactly have Journal... What we have instead is an objectives list with a tab for clues, including things we need to help us solve a bigger mystery - How did we get here, and what is going on in this town?!? My only gripe with the game is that the objectives list pops open way too often, and we have to manually close it each time. Gameplay: Be on the lookout for two types of Collectibles: Mad Head Games' logo (one on each scene) and Morphing Objects (only found in HOS). There is an indicator above the HINT/Journal area on the bottom right that is gray if you've not yet found the logo, and a scary face that's gray on the HOS if you've not found the morphing item. Our inventory items are often interactive, and will glow green if you have items on-hand that go with them. Periodically we'll be given choices, and the wrong choice can have grave consequences. You won't get a GAME OVER, but you'll see scenes a bit differently depending on what you choose. I now wish that I'd made more wrong decisions! I'd have liked to see what happens! lol~ We have an interactive, insta-transport MAP that shows where we have unmet objectives and where we've completed the location(s), as well. Using HINTS during the adventure portion of the game will either pinpoint something you need to do, or give you a directional hint. Hidden Object Scenes vary, from finding fragments hidden behind objects to solving riddles to opening or breaking items before we can find the listed clues. It seemed like there weren't a lot of HOS and puzzles, but I was so engrossed in the story and what we were doing that I suspect this wasn't the case. Every little thing was so interesting that I didn't want to mis-click or use any hints/skips at all. There are some situations where you have to get things done quickly. Hurry... hurry, before time runs out! I suspect that these few sequences are skippable, but I was so immersed in what I was doing that I didn't check. EDIT: I had taken a screenshot, and it shows that they ARE skippable! Sights and Sounds: All of the sound work is perfect, except for the SFX used when we click on certain things (so annoying!) I recommend turning that slider way down. ;) Prepare to immerse yourself in a carefully-crafted nightmare. Everything you see - whether it be cheery or foreboding - is designed to pull you deeper into this twisted world, and they accomplished this beautifully. The voiceovers are excellent. I'm especially impressed with the dev's choice to use a bubbly child's voice for the antagonist. The stark contrast to our environment and the situation we're in makes that voice all the more frightening. CE Content:

Integrated Strategy Guide (as of the date of this review, Steam's version of the guide is not working, so here is a handy dandy walkthrough in case you need it)
Bonus Chapter
15 in-game Achievements, each with three tiers (bronze, silver and gold)
44 Collectible Objects* (The squiggle part of Mad Head Games' logo)
19 Morphing Objects (only found in HOS)
Bonus Hidden Object Scene
Jigsaw Puzzle
Character Gallery**
4 Wallpapers
19 Replayable HOS (shows time taken, accuracy and high-scores)
Making of Video (includes concept art, before-and-after and how they transformed live actors into drawn ones)
14 Music Tracks (can be saved)
*If you miss any of the collectibles, you will still have an opportunity to find them via the Extras menu! Just click on the collectibles part to go to a screen that shows you all of your found and missed logos. Once you collect them all, you'll unlock two new areas in the Extras:

Bonus Hidden Object Scene - This is a really cluttered find-by-list scene, but new items-to-find keep popping in until you've found nearly everything on the screen! Same scoring as the replayable HOS.
Jigsaw - Complete this to get some bonus dialogue with the antagonist (nice!)
**You must finish the Jigsaw to unlock the Character Gallery for 9 of the individuals in the game. Here you'll find not just background info, but also the future fate of a few characters. Bonus Chapter: The extra chapter is partly prequel, and partly concurrent to the main game. We play the game from Howard - my favorite side-character's - point of view. I love this guy, and it was a lot of fun discovering what he went through while we were busy doing other things. The bonus chapter is not necessary to understand the ending, but the extra dialogue at the conclusion of the jigsaw puzzle is an even better ending for the game. Verdict: Maze: Subject 360 is an incredibly immersive and artfully-told horror, frightening on a level rarely seen in the IHOG genre. It's creepy, it's scary, sometimes nerve-wracking and cold sweat-inducing and I freaking loved it! Highly recommended!
Recommend but only on sale due to how short it is. Pros .Interesting story .Well done artwork/graphics/scenes .Enhancing music/sounds/voice acting .Four difficulty modes including custom .Mini-map with fast travel .Lockable toolbar .Gears appears when object in place for possible use .Challenging adventure play .Variety of hidden object scenes .Collectables (crooked swirl) .Morphing objects in hidden object scenes .Interactive elements in scenes .Bonus chapter Cons .Easy mini-puzzles .Quite short even including the bonus chapter .The journal constantly popping up was very annoying and broke the immersion. Final opinion (7/10): The game started out as a gripping horror but then morphed into a typical mystery adventure. By that time, I was pulled into the story and still enjoyed the game but feel it lost its most compelling elements.
Такая ностальгия играть в эту игру. Крайне рекомендую!
This was top of the marks in the Mountain Crime Requital scale~!!! This was extremely fun with a great variety in the way they did their Hidden Object parts!! I really enjoyed my time through this game. One of my favorite things they did is that each hidden object puzzle's objects were pretty in theme with the screen, and not just a random assortment of objects haphazardly copy pasta'd into the puzzle. All the extras and collectibles were lovely as well!! The story was alright - not bad, not good, but certainly more effort was put in it than most of the usual stories. I enjoyed the characters and the voice acting and they did a really good job making the main villain really annoying. The voice acting was great as well!! Top marks for everyone. As for the horror aspect, there were a few well-timed jumpscares and some creepy bits! I think it hit the marks for the most part, but the creepy was only in certain parts and not throughout, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good hidden object game.
One of the best hidden object games I have played, the story is pretty compelling and the characters encountered are interesting and believable (within the context of the fantastic/horrific story that plays out), and the gameplay is decent enough to not get in the way - the puzzles are all on the easy to trivial side, but in this case it does help in a way by avoiding breaking the flow of the story when you get stuck on atricky puzzle for ages. The hidden object scenes are mostly of the find the item from its name which I prefer, although there are some of the "interaction required" items that need you to click something else at random to reveal the named item, which I don't. There are also a few matching pairs scenes which were fine. There didn't seem to be any of the translation issues which can severely break this type of games (one exception comes to mind - bottles meaning test tubes when there were several actual bottles in the scene). Overall this one is highly recommended if you want a fairly standard hidden object game raised by a superior and far less derivative storyline than is the norm for the genre.
Really enjoyed it! It jump scared me a few times, which isnt difficult at all! But all in all I really enjoyed it!! Thanks for the work put into this game !
Amazing casual adventure game. It's still the a game like the others but everything is better than average: A story that's actually quite interesting, good graphics, inventive original puzzles and hidden-object scenes and some other interesting mechanics. After Adam Wolfe and this, Mad Head Games aspire to be the next king of this genre.
Welcome to The Maze, Subject 360
I was randomly scrolling through my list of games on Steam, trying to decide what to play next. After Watch_Dogs, I knew I wanted something that would be relaxing and not cause annoyance or rage. I noticed this game, and I thought I’d give it a try. Let’s just say I wasn’t expecting what this game would be, but in an excellent way. Maze: Subject 360 puts players in the role of Christine Mack, a woman who wakes up in a room, not knowing how she got there in the first place. A telephone rings and a little girl’s voice comes through. She calls us a subject and informs us that if we want to enter her sanctuary, we must prove ourselves worthy. She’ll put us through a series of tests, but can we pass? Remember to find a way out, or you’ll never leave… Also, remember to never fall asleep. Before playing, this was the first time I had played through a hidden object game like this. As a horror fan, I loved this a lot. The use of jumpscares was really well done; some actually caught me off guard. Graphically, the game’s very dark and grainy, but there is a good amount of color, so it all works together. The sound design in this game is also excellent. Players can choose between four different game modes: Test Subject (Easy), Escapee (Normal), Chosen (Hard), and Free Will (Custom). So, however you want to play, you have options. The game’s hidden object scenes and puzzles are pretty straightforward; in each HOP, you can find morphing objects that are slightly challenging. I had to stare at the screen for a minute or more to see each. Throughout the game, you can also find swirls that act as collectibles. Furthermore, achievements are included, some of which were difficult to get. Overall, this was a tremendously creepy game with an exciting story, spooky visuals and sounds, and fun gameplay. I wish the second, third, and fourth Maze series games were on Steam, but they are on Big Fish Games, and the fifth is on here, so I’ll have to check them out. As a start, this was really good!
4 out of 5 ★★★★☆!
Easily one ofthe best horror hidden object games I've ever played! The story is engrossing from beginning to end, the scares kept me on the edge of my seat, and it hit the nail on the head when it comes to the atmosphere and pacing, this including the bonus chapter. It was an adrenaline fueled gaming experience that kept me absorbed until the very end and left me with an ending that was very satisfying. This game is another reason Mad Head Games is the king when it comes to HOG games.
