Max Payne is a man with nothing to lose in the violent, cold urban night. A fugitive undercover cop framed for murder, hunted by cops and the mob, Max is a man with his back against the wall, fighting a battle he cannot hope to win. Prepare for pain…

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

7/10 solid revenge story with some cool shooting One thing I did not like was how slow Max moves but thankfully the levels aren't too big Btw ♥♥♥♥ those dream levels
Hey kiddo, Handsome Jack here... and I just played the original Max Payne, and apparently somebody looked at the concept of grief, revenge, and depression and thought, “You know what this needs? Dual pistols and an unreasonable amount of slow motion.” Finally. A sensible approach to emotional trauma. You play as Max Payne, a cop who loses his family, gets framed for murder, and spends the rest of the game shooting basically everyone who gets in his way. And honestly, I have to respect the commitment. Most people deal with tragedy by going to therapy. Max deals with it by diving through windows in slow motion while firing two guns at some unfortunate guy's face. That's called coping, kiddo. And the bullet time? OH, KIDDO. This game invented the art of looking incredibly cool while having absolutely no regard for your spine. You run into a room, activate bullet time, dive sideways, unload both pistols, land on the floor, stand up, and immediately do it again because apparently gravity has filed a formal complaint against you. The story is dark too. Really dark. Everyone is miserable. Everyone is corrupt. Everyone is involved in some kind of conspiracy. And Max spends the entire game narrating his life like he's trapped inside the world's most depressing detective novel. Which, to be fair, he is. Then there are the comic-book cutscenes and bizarre dream sequences. You'll be having a gritty crime story one minute, and suddenly you're walking through a nightmare maze listening to Max talk about his childhood while everything looks like it was designed by a sleep-deprived fever dream. Fantastic. The gunplay is still satisfying, though. Shotguns, pistols, submachine guns, grenades, rifles... Max has enough weapons to personally bankrupt the local ammunition industry. And the enemies? They apparently have no concept of cover. They'll stand in a doorway and watch you dive through the air toward them with two guns. At Hyperion, I'd call that poor employee training. The atmosphere is probably what makes the game special. Snow-covered New York, neon lights, dark alleys, crime scenes, abandoned buildings, and that constant feeling that everything is going horribly wrong. And the monologues? Kiddo. I have never heard someone describe walking down a hallway like they just witnessed the collapse of civilization. Max sees an empty room and somehow turns it into a philosophical observation about death, fate, and the human condition. I see an empty room and think, “Perfect place for a vending machine.” Different leadership styles. 10/10, kiddo. Fantastic atmosphere, iconic bullet time, great gunplay, memorable writing, and enough noir depression to make an entire bottle of antidepressants nervous. I'd give it 11, but Max already has enough suffering. Besides, I don't want him becoming competition for me. There's only room for one handsome, emotionally unstable corporate genius around here. And trust me... It's not Max.

4 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
4 on sale11 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 11 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 4 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Sound does not work in cutscenes at all. Does not matter how many fixes I install. Does fix a distorted echo but thats it. I dont advocate for piracy, but its all around better to emulate this. Great game otherwise.
Finally managed to get it working
Pain to the max!
Po pracy mam w cos wywałać złe emocje i też kurzenie . Do tej pory nie lubiłam zcielanki . Przez MAX PAYNE polubiłam tak mi wydaje z cielanki .
It's literally unplayable. It crashes after the first cutscene. I've tried multiple different screen sizes to see if that works but it doesn't. Gonna refund.
As an OG fan. game is great. As for it being on steam, its almost unplayable unless you go download 3rd party files and fiddle around like you're a dev. Unacceptable in my opinion.
really fun game if you can get it to run
Iconic 3rd person shooter. I like this a lot! Very fun gameplay.
