Max Payne is a gritty, noir-inspired third-person shooter that revolutionized action gaming with its cinematic slow-motion "bullet time" mechanic and dark, revenge-driven story. A cult classic.
I enjoy the Max Payne trilogy, and I think this is a great initial chapter. The gameplay is fun and the storytelling through the comic book paneling is a great stylistic choice. Also, I enjoyed the level design and would encourage others to play it if they're interested in this series. Now, there are certain levels which I think are not necessarily optimized for this game... remember this is a shooter, not a platformer, but you take the good with the bad. Don't feel bad if you have to search up a guide for the helicopter... I did. 6/10

I played it trough once again this masterpiece after like 14-15 years, and it's still a great game. Had to play it with PS2 Emulator, the game doesn't really like modern PCs, even with many fixes installed for it. Overall, it's a great game, hopefully we can play with the already announced remastered versions too.

8/10 FOR ME! First time playing it, never had the chance when it came out. Simple, straight to the point, and fun. Gets better as you go deeper, like a game should. Patches improve the performance and visuals so worth installing them before playing or else you may even get stuck on a cutscene or two! Combat, in terms of cover could be a little better, but once everything clicks, it is golden! Booby-traps can be evaded first time, but you got to stay focused, quick and unguard. Story is straight forward but executed well. Badass game, overall, and looking forward to playing the sequel!
Does not even launch what a waste
one of the best third person shooters ever made and an incredible story for its time i quote this game maybe once or twice a month because some of the lines are just timeless. super fun to replay every once in a while and EVEN more fun if you have the kung fu mod. also it was in The Sopranos so thats pretty cool. "HAHA Payne to the MAX!"
