One of the best games I've ever played. Might be one of the best Marvel games of all time. I read there are reviews about the writing and dialogues being bad, but honestly, I don't find it like so. The story is actually good and engaging enough to make me play everyday and hyped to finish it right after work. It's like an interactive movie. The graphics, audio and gameplay blends so well. There are some performance issues with final arena boss fight where using Legendary cards (
especially Iron Man's!
) eats frames like it's dinner on a Tuesday. I literally have to play in that arena boss fight under 30fps.
Deadpool introduction and dialogues are one of the funniest interaction in video games I've ever experienced. It's a shame his cards are bad (in my opinion).
The game is not short but not too long either. It's longer than average, and I find it nice. Honestly, I would gave it 10/10 but for that bad performance alone I would give it -- 9/10. Please play it. I hope there's Midnight Suns 2!
Got this game free when I purchased my GPU and didn't think I'd play a turn based card game. Turns out I was wrong, I absolutely loved this game. The actual gameplay was really satisfying with all the different options and cards, and unlocking new stuf was really exciting. The story was fun, and I think the characterizations were handled well. The post game content isn't particularly special but I did buy the DLC and that's been really solid as well. The content around the abbey was sometimes more of a task than I wanted, but overall it was still nice to do some exploring. I do wish I 'd focused on one specific faction (light or dark) early on just for the achievement of getting full dark or full light, but otherwise I don't really have any complaints about the game other than it doesn't seem to get a lot of love, and I think it's really underappreciated
As a kid in the 80s I read two comic books, Wolverine and Ghost Rider, then in the 90s I was onboard with the reboot of GR with Dan Ketch and the whole Midnight Suns storyline, so I kinda had high hopes for this project as it had a lot of my favourite characters and one of my favourite storyline influences. Unfortunately what we got was a poorly optimised, fairly competent action card battler with some interesting social interactions that has been completly marred by blatent monetisation and "live service" intentions. Even getting the entire collection on Sale, IMHO, does not make up for how inundated by all the different "tasks" you have to do just to progress in the storyline. Funny thing is, I play gatcha games as well, and this plays just like a really bad gatcha game. And they're FREE (apart from the micro transactions)! I have now tried three times to play this game and each time as I start to get interested in A SINGLE PLAYER ACTION RPG I am immediately confronted by useless materials, mechanics and currencies needed to progress. This sucks, because I really think there's a half decent game here. Even as unoptimised as it is. Hopefully in 10 years modders can stripe out all the cruft and give us the pure game that lurks in the dark soul of this drek. Until then, I'm going to pass :(
Forever installed on my machine, super underrated
u am not a big fan of roguelikes or card deck games but this game has changed how i feel about them
Marvel's Midnight Suns has fun interesting gameplay that is easy to pickup. Turn based combat with deck building is a unique combination that works here with well made combat ability animations that compliment each hero's powers. The story is enticing enough to keep me invested and I recommend watching the prequal shorts as they do a good job of establishing the characters and story but have no idea why these are not included in the game. This game fails hard in one aspect and that is the dialog. The story is supposed to be dark and gritty, at least that is how I felt it sets itself up but the dialog in this game comes across as the polar opposite. In the two hours that I played almost every characters dialog needed to include a witty or comedic line or two or three. This killed it for me especially since a good part of this game is building up your relationship with each individual hero you unlock. When everyone is trying to be the witty or funny guy it ruins the tone of the story to the point where I do not feel like there are any actual stakes at risk, and it makes each character feel the same and have no real individual personality. This game has a lot going for it and if you can survive the dialog then go for it but I could not take another minute of it. Pick it up on a sale or maybe watch a video of the first hour or so before you buy.
WHY is my fun tactical card game being interrupted by nba 2k create a player story with marvel characters
Пафосна супергеройщина, з незліченною кількістю нудних діалогів, але з непоганими покроковими боями. Рекомендую лише фанатам Marvel
I am all for a good cut scene but jfc
