honnêtement j'adore et pourtant j'en attendu rien du tout
It is a great game if you don't mind getting dunked on from time to time, as a PVP-first extraction shooter. The gunplay is great, the abilities are cool, the maps are rather small so there's bound to be a lot of contact with other teams. The lore is cool as ♥♥♥♥, I wish they added a campaign at some point. It is balanced around 3-player teams, so please use a microphone if you're queuing alone with randoms, your experience will usually be better for it <3 It can be played solo, either as a solo queue (vs trios/duos or other solos) or as a Rook run (somewhat similar to scav in EFT), but Bungie still has to tune the game for it and the balance can be off. It is not an easy game, and some poor choices by the dev team at the start of season 2 coupled with the lack of SBMM made it extremely cancerous for non hardcore players. Having said that, time to kill is relatively low, and using comms and informing your teammates will increase your chance to exfil considerably.
Absolute gesamtkunstwerk.
I love extraction shooters. At first I wasn't sure about marathon, I played like 10-20hrs only in S1, but in S2 i grew to love it and upgraded to deluxe. All of the shells feel useful in their own way, the abilities are fun and the weapons feel great. I truly hope it grows and more people decide to play it, because the game deserves it
Nae fun
A hardcore shooter not for everyone. But if it's for you, it's really for you.
Absolute dog game. You have no chance against someone putting in upteen hours into this game. The game is designed for those that live on the thing. Bungie is far from what it used to be and should have learned lessons from failed ♥♥♥♥ like DayZ and WarZ. Extraction shooters aren't it! This game isn't paving any pathways, the game is a hodgepodge cluster. Allowing comments so people can cope and flame.
One of the best shooters I've played in a really long time. Punishing but in a great way, excellent gunplay, and a compelling late game levels. Devs seem super responsive and have generally been making good balance changes so far. Menu UI is tough at first, but easy once you get the hang of it.
What I Liked 1) The atmosphere 2) Bungie-style gunplay 3) The art style and music (I've been listening to the OST nonstop for the past three days lol.) What I Hated *) The amount of hate the game is receiving. I won't compare Marathon to every other extraction shooter. Instead, I'll judge it based on what it brings to the table. If this type of game is your thing, you'll probably be surprised by the depth of its progression, combat, and overall gameplay It's not the kind of game that holds your hand and teaches you everything. Instead, it encourages you to go out, experiment, and discover every item and mechanic on your own, which is something I really enjoy. The more I explored, the more I enjoyed each play session. The only reason I refunded the game was the long queue times. Even so, the seven runs I managed to play were awesome. The combat against both other Runners and NPCs felt weighty, satisfying, and never hollow I know Bungie can take this game to new heights. Until then, I'll keep thinking about the mysteries and depth of Tau Ceti
