Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 36.14/day in the week to Jul 22 → 49.38/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

gunplay is so fun and cryo archive is the best pvp experience ever
The only game I've ever played that made me feel real fear. It's imperfect, but it also might be my favorite multiplayer game of all time. Full disclosure: I have 250+ hours on the PS5 version not shown here at the time of this review.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

gameplay is tough but so good. It might not be your cup of tea but if it is then it hits
Starting out is a lot more forgiving than I expected given online discourse. They have a separate Beginner Perimeter map you can play until you hit level 12 so that you aren't immediately thrown into the deep end. If you're doing contracts, that gives you probably 6 or 7 runs to get a feel for how things work while matchmaking you with other beginners. I successfully exfiled the first several runs I did without running into anyone, always solo. The first time I did normal Perimeter, it wasn't until after I exfiled and was spectating other players that I realized I accidentally went into trios as a solo, so there may have been some luck there in getting out alive without running into anyone. Overall I really like the game. There's an addictive quality to it where if I get killed, it just makes me want to try again. In my 30+ hours I've yet to encounter a situation where I died and it wasn't something I could have avoided somehow. If this game closes down, I'm going to be really sad. The music, the audio design, the visual style, the mysterious backstory, the beautiful environments, and the motion graphics are all so incredibly well done. It would be a great tragedy for all this hard work to end up in the trash. There are two main issues I would highlight: 1. No Linux support is bad. From what I can find online, there is no technical reason this game cannot run on Linux and it is entirely up to Bungie to enable it. Free this game from its Windows prison. 2. Matchmaking can take several minutes. That's several minutes of complete downtime. They give you access to the Codex on the matchmaking screen so you can at least do some reading but I can totally understand the frustration people feel when they die and know that getting back into another game is going to take like 3 to 5 minutes minimum. Here's hoping Bungie has enough cards up their sleeve for the December/March updates to turn things around and bring in more players.
Game does not work on Linux and even on Win10 the performance isn't great. The game itself is quite fun though if you have friends to play with.
The game plays well and has EXCELENT gunplay. It is definitely difficult but that shouldn't turn you away! I have high hopes for the future of Marathon!
I’d say Marathon is an absolute 10/10 in the extraction shooter genre. Marathon is by far the best FPS experience I’ve had in the last few years and is by far my favorite extraction shooter I’ve ever played. It’s worth every penny, and I believe it has a bright future despite what the die hard haters of this game may say. At first, I was worried about the player count leading to impossible queue times (queues take less than a minute) and all the other negative things people were saying about it. The stigma around the game had kept me from buying it since it release. But let me tell you, this game is an absolute masterpiece and staple of the extraction shooter genre. If you're scrolling through these reviews trying to decide whether or not you should pick it up, it's an absolute must buy. Ive thousand of hours into Tarkov and a hundred or so in arc raiders. Though I do believe Tarkov is by far the best extraction shooter, to me there was always something missing. It's an incredible game but it never quite scratched that itch. Then ARC Raiders came along and got closer to what I was looking for but now I know Marathon was the game I In this genre I’d been searching for all along. First off all, the character designs, art style, and overall visuals are absolutely amazing. Every map has its own identity, the atmosphere is incredible. But what really makes this game so great is the gunplay and the abilities. One thing that always felt a little wonky to me in ARC Raiders was the gunplay and overall combat. It wasn't bad by any means but Marathon absolutely nails it. The weapons feel smooth, satisfying, and genuinely fun to use, and I've barely even scratched the surface of everything that's available. The abilities are also surprisingly well balanced so every Runner feels viable instead of having one obvious meta pick and each raid you could use a new runner and succeed no matter what. The maps are fun, rewarding to learn, and loot actually feels meaningful. Tarkov has always done looting exceptionally well because there's constantly something you're hunting for, whether it's a quest item, hideout upgrade, or gear and I believe Marathon captures this essence in full. ARC Raiders looting never quite captured that same feeling, it felt bleak and fairly meaningless. Marathon absolutely does. Different loot unlocks faction upgrades, crafting recipes, and gear progression. You can even salvage items to a little worm in your vault to upgrade your Runner's stats, which makes every successful extraction feel worthwhile. Almost everything you pick up has a purpose and that makes the gameplay loop incredibly addictive. I also think the learning curve is way less intimidating than people make it out to be. If you've played FPS games especially extraction shooters or even battle royales, you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. There's definitely depth to learn, but it's not nearly as overwhelming as some people claim. As for the PvE aspect they were able to capture the same magic destiny had, PvE isn’t overwhelming and doesn’t lead you to getting killed by other players because you engaged on bots, they arnt over powered but still rewarding to fight. The blend of PvP and PvE was done fantastic. Theres some runs I’ll go in just to fight bots or players, maybe even both. There’s countless missions (contracts) to do, ranging from PvP oriented and PvE. Sometimes a mix of both. It honestly makes me sad to see how much hate this game has gotten. That negativity kept me from buying it for way longer than it should have and I'd hate to see such a wonderful and well made game struggle because people wrote it off before giving it a real chance. So if you're on the fence about Marathon, just go for it. I seriously cannot put this game down. Every extraction has me wanting to queue up again, and I constantly find myself looking forward to booting it up whenever I have free time. It's been a long time since a game has hooked me like this. I genuinely hope more people give it a chance because it deserves way more love than it's getting. Keep in mind with all the hate people may say less than 72% of steam players finished the tutorial. So give the game a chance you won’t regret it.
