Mahjong Deluxe

[b]mahjong deluxe[/b] is an enormous pile of lazy mobile trash from 2016 (or possibly earier). sure, there are a lot of levels (hence enormous) but basic functionality is almost non-existant and it's not the most complex of games to begin with. instead of fixing it up over the years, the developer chose to ignore every and all feedback and went with the [b]quantity over quality approach[/b], adding more layouts every now and then. lazily (that's the keyword for the whole thing here) they're still only divided into the original 6 packs, making them bigger and bigger and more and more tedious to navigate with only 21 levels per screen. [b]they're all unlocked from the start but no layout preview, so you gotta click each to see what they look like.[/b] lazy yet again. oh, and [b]no mid-level saving if you quit.[/b] rules are explained, there's a short interactive tutorial and at the time of writing there are [b]1386(!) levels but the store page claims it's double that[/b]. still nothing to sneeze at, but what they did was, [b]they counted both game modes as separate levels[/b] because you can play each layout in [u]normal mode[/u] and [u]speed play[/u]. total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. even more so because the only difference is that the stars for the [b]4-star rating system[/b] trigger at different times, so it's not a lower time to beat or anything worthy of a separate mode. one of their other games, [b]barnyard mahjong[/b] (not sure which entry), is included as well for some reason. well, the reason is so [b]they can tell the game has another tileset with annoying sounds, making it a whopping two[/b]. surprised they don't count these as separate levels as well. and since they're the same layouts, I guess they're selling the same exact games over and over with a different skin, one for the kids, the other for everybody. not unheard of in the casual business, still scummy as ♥♥♥♥. [b]barnyard mahjong 3[/b] is a standalone product on steam, so it's not that, and I didn't buy it to compare hundreds of layouts, wasted enough time on this nonsense as it is. [b]undo, shuffle, hints and a timer toggle[/b] are available, the annoying matching effect can be turned off too, so it's not the worst possible implementation of the core experience, it was just done in an incredibly lazy way. there are a few backgrounds, gotta go through all of them one by one while playing a level, no screen to see them all at once and choose what you want. basic mahjong graphics, no alternate tilesets beside the barnyard thing, decent music, annoying sfx and [b]practically no basic settings[/b]. absolutely none in the main menu and only sound and music toggles, not volumes, while playing. [b]language is set automatically[/b] based on the operating system's regional setting and [b]cannot be changed[/b]. not only that, but [b]the game doesn't handle special characters from other languages and some translations are abysmal[/b], making the tutorial, help and tooltips largely useless. the worst possible combo of lazy, useless and mandatory. furthermore (or [i]furtherless[/i]), there is [b]no windowed mode button, resolution options or an exit button[/b]. a lazy message about f11 for windowed mode (alt+enter also works, wasn't mentioned) and alt+f4 to quit elegantly was added on top of the menu before release, the only piece of feedback they listened to and did the absolute minimum with, and that was 3+ years ago. except [b]one of the updates must've removed even these messages from the main tileset, now only visible in barnyard mode[/b], so as far as the average person knows, there's no windowed mode or a way to exit. windowed mode status and size is remembered between sessions, position is reset to the middle of the screen. sure, there are a ton of layouts for very little money, but functionality is also very little. [b]it's one of the laziest games I've played[/b] even among all the lazy trash that gets released on a daily basis. there are better mahjong alternatives and [b]much more worthy developers to support, don't give any money to these clowns[/b].

This is pretty awful - the music is extremely annoying and it cannot be turned down, it has to be turned off. As to various tilesets being available I can only find 2 - one with silly farm animals and the main tile set - main tile set it's difficult to see what's what in the special tiles. Sound effects are also silly and annoying - buy another game if you like Mahjong.

Pretty relaxing, many levels to do.

Lots of layouts that automatically reshuffle when it gets impossible to proceed. It does not cloud sync.

very simple game but relaxing. Better then the Micro$oft version with all the ads.
