Yeah, I struggled there to determine in which category this game falls. The game feels a bit like Mini Metro and Mini Motorways . You get dropped in a neighborhood in which there are warehouses where package arrives and houses to which those package from the warehouse needs to be delivered. And it is a neighborhood with a bunch of impatient people (similar to IRL and which is also a good thing because otherwise warehouses would be overflown with packages). You have to draw the routes the delivery guy drivers to deliver all those packages. And you can choose between routes that the driver will loop till you make them stop or routes that will just be used one time. After reaching a specific score you'll be dropped into a new and bigger neighborhood to keep going on until you fail to deliver a package on time. You get upgrades over time that will help you out in general, or in specific situations. Examples of upgrades are extra trucks, extra warehouses, but those 2 upgrades are only working in that specific neighborhood, so don't use them if you're almost reaching the score to get transported to a new neighborhood. Other examples are adding 3 seconds to the delivery time, instantly finishing a route, and a few others. I had trouble with the controls to make a route loop, as you need to press your scroll wheel for it to loop. My mouse doesn't have a scroll wheel, so I wasn't able to press it. I fixed this for myself by using AutoHotkey and made it so that when I hold the tab key while clicking on a truck it would loop. (the code for AHK I used: Tab::MButton ) The achievements are very straight forward and only one is missable and that is to complete the tutorial. I missed this at first because of the problems with looping a route. To unlock it I changed the name of the map in which Package Rush saves (Appdata -> local low -> Campfire studio folder) so that the game would think I would start it for the first time. I hope the developer will add an option to redo the tutorial. The other achievements are very straightforward. Some can be done in a custom game to make them easier. The most challenging one will be to deliver 1000 packages in one classic game and to have 10 routes at the same time in a classic game. You have to save up upgrades for when you get to the last city to be able to make 10 routes at the same time. I thought those achievements wouldn't be doable for me as I suck in this type of game and wasn't able to complete Mini Motorways and Mini metro, but this one is a lot easier than those 2, which is a good thing! I used a few routes that looped and tried to always have a backup route (or preferable 2) available for when needed to quickly get to a house if the normal route didn't come there or if it wouldn't make it on time. Stocking up on those "add 3 seconds to the timer" cards also helps a lot. Package Rush is an awesome, short but addictive game with very doable achievements!
Roadwork ahead??? Ah yeah i sure hope it does.
Package Rush
I love how so many of the reviews are under 1-1.5 hours. Must be quite the masterpiece for a recommendation in such a short time while never playing the game again... Simplistic, upgrades are boring, it wasn't fun nor compelling for me.
Delivery sim + charming + good mechanics = Setup delivery routes, send packages and get upgrades. 4 game modes to play with random events. Easy to get into and becomes more challenging over time. 10 з 10
At under 2 dollars Canadian I am not going to bother with a refund but I feel a bit swindled by how many positive reviews had under an hour of play time ever. I would have bought a more honest mixed over this where there are bugs long since communicated so if you have the wrong mouse good luck with that. I like sims and I like traffic sims an odd amount for someone who once wondered who plays them . I hoped this would replace one that does not run easily on souped up computers but alas even with one of the most common of mouses there is there can be issues,. I should have looked at all the reviews. I would not get this if you have hopes of any kind as it is and given how long ago the bug that makes this fairly unplayable for me is I would not get this if you have expectations of things being made to work. I wish maybe for stats about the reviews which would also help during review bombing. Several of the reviews were pre-=release and not of the type where as a community a desire to make the game great exists I guess. Do not pay the full price at the very least if you buy it at all.
https://youtu.be/y09leyugM0Y This is a fun little package delivery game, which includes some strategy and some frustration all in one! You will be able to build up your UPS style business just to see your delivery truck hit road hazards and each other which will be just frustrating enough that you have to play again but not so much that you quit the game and never come back! For the price it is def worth it, as I have already played the game a few hours and I played the demo during the steam next fest!
Such a great expirience for this minimalistic looking game! I had a lot of fun playing it! Would recommend to everyone :)
