EDIT : The developers have caught up well, those who bought the game during the early acess have ALL the DLCs for free. The fact remains that the use of the gamepad is poorly supported (for my part, I assign under Steam all the keyboard keys to my gamepad, what a mess...). I would put a blue thumb if the problems stated during the early acess (of which I participated by giving my opinion on the forum) are corrected. ____________________ The developers lied: indeed, instead of the 4 characters at the release of early acess, we only have 2, the two others are...paying via DLCs. Not to mention the deplorable joystick interface (mouse emulation) and a deplorable reactivity regarding bugs. Run away, poor fools!
This game could be a really good Time Killer if...stages was not gated with a Timer. Timer is not challenge...It's forcing ONLY ONE WAY TO DO to win /: So you have ZERO challenge. You cannot try to beat a boss with subpar gear because if the Timer run out It give you a game over. This game is a mobile port,It's just grind, grind and grind again to get more runes and gear to disassemble to do more damage and to fight the next boss...It's no hard at all. It would be better with a Score Attack without Timer... As an example another mobile port I play is Dragon Spear and in Dragon Spear you can try to fight a boss with subpar weapon if you want for a real challenge! Here,it's not possible because to win you need a certain amount of power to beat the boss in the given time. It's sad because Characters are nice and I'm sure It's going to be a delight to loot all those nice weapons and armors. Alas, that Timer need to die in a fire! Oh,and for now, only QUERTY keyboard is usable...you cannot rebind keys and controllers don't work.

TL;DR: I can’t call it anything other than a scam because this is an EARLY ACCESS game without EA tag. And this fact is deliberately hidden. 1) The publisher DELIBERATELY misleads buyers. 2) This is an EARLY ACCESS game without EA tag. 3) 3 of 4 characters locked with message "Coming soon". 4) This is BEAT 'EM UP where you FORCED to use MOUSE AND KEYBOARD. 5) Was unable to use Microsoft Xbox ONE controller to play it: you can't move using controller d-pad/sticks (only works with keyboard arrow keys).
Magia X is a game that was originally made for mobile and it shows. Not in the graphics, the game is absolutely beautiful. Not really in the grind department, either. The enhancement system is way overblown in the reviews. I had to grind once and it's because the game stupidly teaches you how to dismantle items before unlocking crafting, so I blew up the tutorial crafting weapon and had to grind to get it back. The weapon drop rates are absurdly low. I only lost to the timer once and it was specifically because of this. Everything after that incident was smooth sailing. The mobile stuff is mostly in the combat and the boss fights. It honestly feels like a game that was meant to just be snoozed through with an auto button. You pop your cooldowns and then just normal attack until the come back, rinse and repeat. You have infinite dashes, the enemies have no AI and will happily stand around doing nothing or attack in the opposite direction. And all of the bosses (except for one) I've fought so far are just upscaled versions of normal enemies with a bit of a paint job. They recently unlocked Act 2 and they're already recycling entire stages from Act 1. It's the kind of recycling you expect out of an asset flip. The potential is there for this game to be great, but it's slated for full release next week and I don't see where they're going to add actual progression and more interesting combat. I certainly don't think they'll be adding in unique and interesting boss fights to the game in a week. I will gladly change this review if they pull through, I would love for this game to be good. But otherwise there are genuinely free to play side scrolling beat em ups with more to offer than this.
It's a Vanillaware rip-off, which isn't inherently bad but this has a long way to go before it's good. Sound design is nice, though. Crafting failure will still eat up your materials and even set your equipment back a level, forcing you to either be lucky or re-farm for materials(unless you use another material, which just means failure damages your equipment until you use another material to repair it, no joke the game sets your gear back a level if you fail).
Don't waste your money. They promised several acts and multiple characters and then sold all the extra characters as DLC (for like 8 bucks a piece) despite the game not even being finished.
