They Are Billions + The initial concept of Factorio (In that it's an RTS you have to build the whole production line for) + A little bit of XCOM Apocalypse. It's actually very enjoyable once you get going, So far I've done a decently lengthed game in the DFW and Boston areas. Eyeing California next, and then maybe going for an India run.
I paid 12 bucks and got my moneys worth. It's simple graphics but surpisingly in depth logistics. I love building walls and turrets so this is my kinda game. I beat the tutorial and then on my first playthrough I was rebuilding Detroit Windsor area. Gotta build the houses then get an economy going. Killed my first worm.
Factorio meets Distant Worlds? I have no idea how to describe this game, but I like it.
I tried the demo first. Then Immedately bought it. The game has solid bones and has some great potential to be a real game changer. I love the blend of economy and warfare. Well thought out and well developed for where it is at. A steal of a deal at the moment.
My Experince so far : After 5 minutes in the tutorial i pretty much knew everything there is to know, so with that i could straight up jump into my free game. I picked Germany as a starting location made my way to france and from there to the US. All of this took me about 3-4 hours, im not even close to being done with that one match. Most new games struggle to keep the player entertained for more than 4 hours, so its nice having a game to finally spend some time on. Stuff i would like to see in the game : I would like to be able to build own settlements, not with the tents but with houses. So far (as far as i understand it) you can only repair already existing houses. When i tab out of the game on my second monitor, the map starts spinning, so everytime i tab back in i gotta find the point where i was. It would be cool if your enemy wasnt only the bugs but also enemy settlers. That would also allow for a economic and diplomatic system, in which you can improve your relationship with other settlers by trading them resources they need. But also raiders who will simply try to take over your base. I would like more units like : - Fighter planes - Bombers - Mech units - Destroyer ship - submarine And most important, a multiplayer would be really nice. But the game literally just released, so well see how it develops over time. But it is already worth the money!
This game is not release ready, in game functions dont work. the grouping of cities in the game is ridiculous, small amounts of housing areas result in micromanagement of insane levels. things get patched, other things break, very doubtful theres much testing going on. Workers can use "backpacks" yet they still only carry one thing at a time when doing any job. certain areas will have lots of housing yet the small range of the ai that will auto assign jobs restricts this. construction camps can build in an area that the ai will not actually use. what ends up happening is you relocating workers to areas that then die because the enemies will bypass walls/rivers/mountains, ignoring the multiple defenses shooting at them and beeline straight for the workers, which will equip themselves with weapons but wont use them. when building said defenses it will auto assign a worker to a defense tower to man the tower before its built. if its out of range of a city it will not build. if theres not enough workers, it wont build, they will stand out there and die before building a tower. you wind up with hundreds of units grouped up in cities not doing anything but taking up resources in the game "the simulation of lots of units" means nothing if most of them are doing nothing. Vast regions of the world are just empty. places with tons and tons of cities and if you want to retake even parts of it you will wind up doing A TON of micromanagement sending resources to places that may or may not get there. build a depot too far out and it wont stock any vehicles therefore it wont collect anything and your "supply lines" end rather quickly. When large amounts of enemies are off screen but "attacking" a place your not looking at they will ignore all defenses and terrain and just beeline. refocus on the area and they will pop in and out as they now render in. which is laggy.
