About
This is a revolutionary base building game. Your mission is to protect our rockets, which are still under construction, from the attacks of the evil capitalist enemy.
As an officer of East Varnakia, our great motherland, you must protect our precious rockets at any cost.
Our ultimate goal is to launch our secret weapon, the Ideology Realignment Satellite, into space to help our corrupted Western brothers see the dangers of the capitalist worldview that they have been infected with.
You can exchange the Capital Credits you steal from the capitalists with new buildings.
Will you fortify our stronghold with pillboxes, hire new soldiers, or maybe use radio broadcastings to... "educate" our troops?
When the situation calls for it, you may need to bend the rules for the greater good. Corruption, illegal trade, and even the dreaded alcohol may become valuable weapons.
Create a secret police to find those disgusting anti-revolutionary moles among us.
What to do with them once they're found... is for you to decide.
We have sent you the most cutting-edge sentient automaton we ever created, Elyusha.
She can educate and instruct even the most zealous of capitalists in the ways of our great motherland and its superior ideology.
Should the need arise, she will be there to help you with her Revolutionary Beam.

I've never been one for Tower Defense or Strategy Games, the only other Strategy Game i've played and enjoyed was Floppy Knights and in all fairness that's a game I haven't completed yet and has been in my library unfinished for a few years. Red Rocket Defencism is not only the first proper Tower Defense game i've beaten, but excelled at. As of writing I have 31 out of 40 Achievements, and I don't see any reason not to 100% complete it seeing as i've only put 3 hours into the game, and another hour or so to completely put it under my belt sounds fun. The game is certainly on the smaller side, Seven Stages and a Pseudo-Final Boss, and some of the mechanics feel a bit wonky; mostly with regards to the Spacing of AI Allies and AI Enemies. Anything that's stationary works like a dream, and while the Mobile AI isn't broken or faulty, it can feel squidgy and strange. Not only that but even as someone who isn't a Tower Defense veteran, it's pretty simple. Given enough time the game gives you everything you need to find your mechanical niche, although I worry that the Strategy of simply speccing into a Fire & Explosion build is the optimal strategy. The story, what little there is, is funny, quirky, and has it's moments of actually making you think for a second, but it's also very surface level with regards to its themes regarding war, communism vs. capitalism, revolution and so on. The game also takes place in a fictional country with a fictional background but still in the real world, like it was a split-branch from the Soviet Union, and perhaps this is a nitpick but I feel like the world would be a bit more engaging if the world powers were also fictionalized versions of real world places. Would've felt a little more cohesive whilst still getting the point across. It's just a bit strange that while the rival faction is never named it's clearly an analogue for America but never named, and yet the events of WW2 are directly canonized. Feels strange. In spite of all of this, i'd say the game is absolutely worth the asking price. It's about the price of a reasonably priced deli sandwich and some chips, and the three hour mark feels about apt for a solo-development game whose credits comprise mostly of the games composer, localization team, and game testers. The mechanic of having what is essentially a Tower Defense game where alongside the stationary units you also have a single mobile unit that can slowly grow in power is fun, also gives you more control of where to focus fire. I will say though, I don't remember any of the Mobile Ally Units dying in spite of having a health mechanic, so they're pretty much permanent upgrades. I don't think that makes them inherently broken, as simply relying on mobile units will spread you thin, but they are certainly the backbone of a good strategy. The art-style in particular is what drew me to this game. The soft pastels, squishy pixel-art, fun & creative character designs, truthfully getting to see them and support the artistic vision was worth the price of admission alone. A part of me thinks the concepts in this game could be branched out, while the game is inherently satirical and comedic a part of me wonders what it'd look like if the lead-dev had more of a concrete basis of communist theory to bolster the story, more time to polish up the gameplay, make more levels, broaden the amount of strategies one could make and so on that the game would go from a small curiosity to something with a more singularly unique identity. That isn't to say the game is lacking in uniqueness, but rather it feels soft, ephemeral, when the game could have a punch hard enough to break down the doors of the Winter Palace. For all the criticisms I've levied against this game, it's gossamer story, it's systems that are strong on paper but a tad weak in practice, full to the brim with ideas that feel like they stop too short of their full potential, it feels scrappy to me in a way that endears me. It's full of gusto and heart, and as someone who doesn't mind supporting an indie-dev who i'd like to see blossom, I think there are a lot of worse things you can spend eight dollars on. Redistribute the means of production to a fellow proletariat and partake in a wonderfully flawed piece of state propaganda, won't you, comrade?
