I don't know why this game refuses to let me continue playing it. I haven't played it in 2 and a half years because of the stupid censorship screen that is preventing me from doing ANYTHING. I was barely starting to like it, too. Now, I got to settle for the one before this, or buy it for console, seeing how nothing I do is working. I was stuck fighting this one big sized gimp who wanted to attack me with a leg. Man, I was even inspired enough to write about my own version of the Land of Ecstasy. It was such a cool, creep game with sex being the center of it all just like how it is in real life. Mind you, the last time I was able to play this was on my old curvy monitor, before I broke it in a fit of rage while playing a COD match. Lust from Beyond made me have a new profound love for the Lovecraftian category. I think it has to do with sex being one of the biggest components because of how it's glorified on social media. I think that this is how adult film stars see life like. What really sold me into it was how 4k everything was. It looked really nice and crisp and shiny on my old 4k monitor, which I regret now. The art was BEAUTIFUL. The levels were beautiful. I kept taking screenshots and posting them for the hub, that's how good they were. Anyway, you get the point. New players may not be experiencing the same problem I was going through, so cherish it before you accidentally mess with the settings somewhere, who knows. It's an art. It's a masterpiece. It's creepy cool. But with this bug still not being fixed, I HAVE to give it a no. I'm sorry.
Lust from Beyond is a pretty good lovecraftian, horror game and a good sequel to Lust For darkness and Lust from Beyond Scarlet, but it's time for the story. A young man named Victor Holloway is having trouble, you wouldn't think so as he has a stable source of income, a beautiful girlfriend and a nice place to live, but one thing that's been happening is that Victor is having strange dreams about an alien sexual world of twisted pleasure and pain and those dreams have been infecting his sex life and relationship with his girlfrind. He has been to all kinds of doctors but none can help him, but his girlfriend tells him of a doctor in the town of Bleakmoor that specializes in the unique problem that Victor has, so he goes to Bleakmoor in the hope to get better, but unknown to him, he'll be forced into a twisted world of nightmares, crazy cults and massed up abominations of pleasure and pain both human and inhuman. Alrighty let’s go into the likes, the story is pretty good like with the previous two games it's a erotic HP Lovecraft like story focusing a lot on the eroticism, but it’s not all about that, as the story had good twists and turns, a very interesting use of Lovecraft’s mythology while still doing its own thing, and interesting world and tied up with some well-written characters. The story also makes some pretty good references to Lovecraft not just with the elder gods, but some of the game chapter names and other little references you'll know if you've read Lovecraft’s work. The gameplay is good and relatively the same as the first two you go round solving, puzzles, while you explore each level and do a little backtracking while sneaking past enemies, there are also some things that help the game stand out like there's a combat system that's relatively simple, also when you get to the alien world you get some magic powers and also some quick time events that was in the Scarlet game. The characters were pretty good each one was interesting and had some interesting personalities, I kind of like the Shackle Brothers as they were both jackasses with some funny dialogue, I also like Mabel she felt like one of the few most normal people in an entire house filled with sex crazed, lovecraftian cultist idiots, I also like the main character as he had interesting personality and being an antique dealer, also some NPCs we're also cool. The graphics are good with its uses of colors, designs and scenery that really fit the regular world and the alien world stand out, especially the alien world with its colors and designs that is vibrant, sticky and definitely really, really erotic. The levels were good each area is distinct and interesting looking from the town, the hotel and the other world, especially the other world as it's quite vibrant and interesting a combination of both Lovecraft and H R Giger, we also get to go outside and see a starry sky. The enemies and bosses were okay with pretty simple AI they run at you and attack, they did have interesting looks though, especially the final boss definitely very creepy and kind of had a sort of Hellraiser kind of look to it. The music was okay, they definitely reuse a lot of soundtracks that were in the previous two games. The voice acting was good each voice actor delivered their lines very well, I do kind of recognize the voice actor that played the main character, but like with the main character from Scarlett I just can't remember where I heard them from. Alrighty let’s go into the dislikes, there were some annoying segments in the game the biggest was those stupid tongue creatures and they're very cheap attacks, they were such bullcrap especially as they can hide in dark areas and blend in with the environment.
I also found the ending after agreeing to kill the final boss to be a little too depressing and the endings for the side characters were depressing too, now don't get me wrong this is a Lovecraft like story and a lot of times those Lovecraft stories had depressing endings, but I feel like some of the endings to the characters were a little too depressing. Even if the main characters ending was depressing they could at least made some of the side characters ending, even if the main character's ending was depressing they could at least made some of the side characters ending happy or at least hopeful.
okay then with that all finally done Lust from Beyond is a pretty good lovecraftian, horror game and a good sequel to Lust For darkness and Lust from Beyond Scarlet, it has a pretty good story, good gameplay and pretty good characters. So do I recommend this game sure if you're into Lovecraft or more erotic type stuff this could be for you and if you enjoyed the first game and the little preview game, then you're definitely going to enjoy this.

So anyway, I've played through it, but I can't let go off it in my head. It's is a well-told story.
I like how it starts almost cozy. Well-explored horror tropes to the point of the hotel chase reminding me almost 1:1 of that Cthulhu game I played years ago (while not sucking in the playability department as that game did). But then things take a turn, and another turn and with each turn, it ramps up. That's not an easy feat. Piling higher & higher with each scene is easy when it comes to explosions or stakes (like JRPGs go from fetching grocceries to killing gods), but when it comes to the meat of things rather than superficial frontality, I struggle to name many games or movies. I love the first Iron Sky movie, it does the same at wow'ing the viewer pretty much every scene by amping up what's actually going on in surprising ways with the second movie being more of an anthology of wacky ideas than an actual concise piece of non-interactive art. Amping up things in an interactive piece of art, now that's even better. Up to the end. I chose the bad ending. I'd rather should call it the Victor ending though. What a way to show that's what the protagonist wanted all along AFTER the player made their choice! So here I was, sweet-talking with what's left of Amanda. Amanda herself is written similarly. During the story, she goes from "actually cozy" to "thaaaaaat's not weird at all" to not giving a ♥♥♥♥ about human life let alone turning the whole of earth into another dying world. From letters, the player discovers how she lost touch with our reality quite a while ago. Be it because Johnathan wasn't there for her in the difficult time of coming back to reality or because she already lost touch with our reality while obducted, isn't quite clear. Either way, the villain of the story ramps up. But still, this monstrosity about which the mask is the only human aspect remaining, has something connecting her to her former life. Her most precious memory is Jonathan proposing to her when told of her pregnancy. That's heartwarmingly sweet! Under normal circumstances, I'd write it off as usual romcom hokum that makes me wanna vomit, but I think we can agree that a whole lot kinda everything about this game isn't exactly normal circumstances. I almost expected Victor's most precious memory to be something similar. Maybe a sweet scene with Lily, one that doesn't end in what's the first step into the maelstrom. Speaking of Lily, video games typically struggle at connecting the player to the characters. Yes, Victor cares about Lily, but does the player? The first scene with her is, from the player's perspective, basically a means to get the story going, not much else. But then there's the scene in your prison cell. Up until this moment, your main method of dealing with enemies was sneaking and/or going through bandages like a stoner through snacks. But it is due to Lily that you delve into what's basically a power fantasy, downing cultists with well-placed headshots (if you're half-decent @ FPS). What a cathartic revenge that is! This scene serves just so well to connect the PLAYER to Lily. The scene almost right after starts with music. Normal, everyday, nice to listen to music that sounds like home amidst a disturbing horror scene. I don't think it's unfair to say this game got quite the disturbing stuff going on. My point is already stated, the game got a way to connect the player with Lily instead of merely showing the protagonist is connected with her. Where was I? Right, Amanda. This monstrosity still having something human remain within her twisted mind (if you can even call whatever runs this grotesque shape a mind) serves just so incredibly well to contrast how far gone Victor is. His most precious memory is not Lily, nothing from this plane of existence at all. His most precious memory is the Holy Grail of Lusst'ghaa & getting off in those, erm, things. It was there when I dissociated from Victor. He's a video game protagonist. Video game protagonists range from ever-present (Lara Croft) to the player's avatar (Doom). Either way, we are supposed to feel for the protagonist, with the protagonist, even more so in a first-person game. Unless the game is an RPG (too bad there's not many first-person RPGs around, between New Vegas, Outer Worlds, Cyberpunk, there's only a couple mods left), the progagonist isn't a vessel for the player's decisions. But the player can still feel with the protagonist, understand their motifs while not necessarily agree with their decisions. Y'know, understanding them on the level you'd understand a fellow human being. Which completely falls apart in Victor's final moments. One begin to wonder whether Victor has long left this world in his mind the way Amanda did or what was going on. Either way, this scene, this krass contrast between Amanda's remains clinging to humanity and Victor giving even less of a ♥♥♥♥ about it than this monstrous thing, that serves to show one can not understand a mind touched by the madness of that other plane of existence. Just like one of the core motifs I so love about Lovecraft's work. From the in-universe-perspective, the game makes it abundantly clear. The stuff you read, Amanda herself telling you Lusst'ghaa wasn't shaped by humans, for humans, with humans in mind, didn't co-develop with humans and so on. We are not supposed to be there, I get it like I get a plot of a novel or a video game. But those final moments of Victor serves to show to THE PLAYER that this is some weird ♥♥♥♥ incomprehensible for human minds on a personal level, not on a "I'm playing a game and that's what the protagonist feels"-level.
The developer really found a whole lot of truck to hit the player with. In case that's not clear by now, I love it. It's easy to write off this game as "edgy for the sake of being edgy" on the level of superficial frontality. But the psychological horror is really strong with this one.

An absolute NSFW cosmic horror masterpiece *chef's kiss*. The details are a delight to scan through in just about every environment; each dripping with fascinating lore or gorgeous imagery connected to it. I love this game ^_^

A very bland story, with a few cool concepts, that fails to deliver anything of substance or enjoyment. Its not scary and for being an erotic horror game, its not sexy. Whomp.
