Sorry to say, but this is one of those cheap "horror games". For reasons unknown, you wake up on a misty island. There's a note for you, letting you know that the person who wrote it (your... wife?), cba waiting for you there any longer. Following the road, you can spot nearby wooden houses and also someone else walking the very same road. Could this be the person who wrote you that note? You walk up to them. And... ... SLASH!! Suddenly you have an axe attached to your chest. This, not so friendly, lumberjack was most likely not the note writer. Especially considering the textile sack they've got pulled down over their head, which you don't see until they've grabbed you. What kind of psychotic killer walks on the roads instead of hiding in the shadows, lurking behind bushes and trees? Would have been neat had somebody warned me about these "road walkers". Not what you would expect from a horror game.
Where do I begin? All you can do is run away from the hatchet man. There is no stealth mechanics or hiding mechanics, just run away until the game decides for dumb reasons that he isn't chasing you anymore. I have no idea what I am supposed to do - made all the more frustrating because all I can do is run from the stupid lumberjack rather than figure out what I am supposed to do. When I do get a breather and can search buildings, it's way too dark to see anything and there are no gamma settings. Additional Notes: I got past the first part posted above. The game doesn't get any better. The story is a confusing mess. The puzzles are mostly stupid scavenger hunts. Most of the horror/deaths are mostly caused by the game being asinine.
It's like the Grudge but instead of seeking vengeance over your violent murder, you just lost your fave shoes :(
so dumb
Most akkor mi öltük meg a nőt?
Good game.
Fun little indie horror game.
Frantic at times... 6 of 5 must play. 5 of 5 great story great game-play. 4 of 5 great story average game-play. 3 of 5 average story great game-play. 2 of 5 play only if it's your favourite genre. 1 of 5 play if you have nothing better to do. 0 of 5 play if you're a masochist. -1 of 5 avoid. Lumber Island That Special Place score is 5 of 5.
No way. This game was fantastic. Fun little indie horror game, worth the play through for $5. Wife watched me play through the fairly short story and loved it. I would definitely play again just for the thrill of the game.
Lumber Island - That Special Place is an indie horror game set on the mysterious "Lumber Island". You wake up on this island, not knowing who you are or why you got here, and are left to your own devices to figure out the mystery behind Lumber Island. Pros: -Beautiful graphics and animation, in comparison to other unity based games. -Soundtrack and sound effects add perfectly to the atmosphere, creating an unnerving feeling throughout the game. -Game is well paced, and has suitable scares where needed. Puzzles are not too hard, but offer a fair challenge. -Price is really fair for the amount of content you receive Cons: -Story is a bit difficult to grasp at first, and is left almost entirely to player interpretation, which could be frustrating for certain players. Overall, this is a decent little horror game, definitely worth a look if you are into this genre. 6/10
