About

Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is an action RPG with rogue-like elements that continues the story where Lovecraft’s Untold Stories left off, taking the characters to a new stage in their fight against the Unknown, in a completely new graphics style. Loot drops of randomized gear and resources to craft your own, explore old and new procedurally generated locations, defend yourself against dozens of different enemies and face off against epic bosses! Beware, for the game is more challenging than ever before, and the tough nightmarish creatures opposing you will not give up easily!
The Surrealist Artist Ardois-Bonnot presented his painting called Dream Landscape in the Paris Spring Salon of 1926. The moment the painting was uncovered, it caused a sudden riot among the public, and people screamed and ran all over the place. Soon after the exhibition, Ardois-Bonnot fell into a strange deep sleep from which no one could wake him up. Rumors abound that shortly before this attack of ‘sleeping sickness’, he was at the verge of completion of his greatest masterpiece which would change the world.
This time, you will have access to 6 different playable characters, old and new, each one with a different playstyle. The Detective, the Witch, and the Professor from the first part, which continue their fight against the Great Old Ones, and the Medium, the Veteran, and the Alienist who join the group of adventurers.
One of the new elements that we are including in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is the possibility of crafting your own equipment. Find blueprints and resources to create and improve new items (clothes, weapons and consumables), and see how every item changes the appearance of your character.
The game is not pure roguelike, you will not restart the whole story if you die. Levels are randomly generated and should you die, you will have to start from the beginning of the area, with enemies and loot both reset again. Don’t forget to explore and pick up side quests in order to get as much loot and resources as possible, so you are able to progress in your main story.

Fight dozens of different enemies, monsters and terrifying bosses from the Cthulhu Mythos in this intense, challenging action RPG. Ferocious beasts in the Swamps, Asylum lunatics, City thugs and the demonic creatures from the void will test your resolve to uncover the truth!
Meet the 6 playable characters - 3 familiar faces from the series and 3 complete newcomers - each with their own weapons, gear and skills. Switch between them freely and pick the one most suited for the task at hand!
Collect hundreds of different weapons and clothing items, or craft your own - scour every last room in a level, open every single box and get rewarded with randomized drops of gear, money for trading or resources and blueprints for crafting.
Side quests are crucial - you can earn extra resources and items and get that extra bit of advantage you may need to be able to progress in the main story. Don’t forget to trigger side quests every time you encounter them, you don’t have to finish them right away, but keep them for when you need extra loot!
Exploit the roguelike elements - level maps are randomly generated, as are all lootdrops. The game is not pure roguelike, if you die or choose to restart the level, you only lose progress in the current area. Use this to your advantage and if you don’t get the loot you wanted, try again!.
Make use of Charms and Amulets! Sacred relics which grant strange new abilities. Find those that serve you the best and make your journey unique - but beware, power may come at a cost!
Plunge into the world of darkness where every step could be your last. Balance on the brink of madness as you explore the Asylum and various other locales in the city of Arkham, Swamps, Enchanted Forest, even the Underworld and many more mind-bending locations, all in procedurally generated levels!

Визуал хорош. Идеи тоже. За исполнение - ...ну вы сами знаете.
Overall the game is a good addition to the franchise, however, its predecessor is much better. In the negative aspects of the game that I was able to observe, it was highlighted that the lack of multiple saves and occasional bugs hindered the game experience. It is necessary to add the possibility of creating several saves and saving the game, regarding the difficulty, it should be noted that it is a game for few people due to the high difficulty, apart from the issue of crashing in some game scenarios, but as a fan of the franchise, I say which is an average game.
Well if you liked the first one - you'll for sure like this one. I enjoyed the first one despite its difficulty, and this one takes the formula and just takes it up a notch. It implements Lovecraftian lore pretty well, putting a lot of emphasis on your sanity, giving you interaction choices with various objects you can find - that can either give you resources, heal you, heal your sanity - or drain it. There's crafting for consumables and upgrades, there's grinding for resources, and there's a pretty crazy difficulty spike if you end up with an unfortunate RNG that gives you a "Haha ♥♥♥♥ you" room. But this is what actiony roguelites are. So... it isn't perfect, but imo its worth the money and the time.
Yeah, it's pretty terrible.

Good game apart from a couple issues. But you need to read the developer's guide if you want to give this game a fair chance. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2860219020&fbclid=IwAR3XuFRrHv7O_dnCXhl9c1L0WBVRQxmw78Mm2sOUjd6M46QJBrhpd-GC4hU It gets boring quick though, because the fighting mechanics are long and boring, there are still bugs, etc. If you like Lovecraft give it shot with 80% off during sale. 6.5/10
So, Lovecraft's Untold Stories 1 is a needlessly hard as nails, grueling, arcade-y, punishing twin stick shooter survival horror rpg. I think I hated it more than I liked it, but it was interesting, and the parts of it that were good (such as the writing) were genuinely incredible. Probably not worth the suffering to play it, but definitely memorable. Untold Stories 2 is in the same vein, but all its issues are different ones. The pace of the game is slower, the art is fantastic, you can get hit a little and recover from it, these are all good things. Unfortunately, environments are somehow even more cluttered, enemies spawn in even bigger numbers, you can still get one-tapped if a few attacks hit at the same time, movement is ponderous, dps is low, everything feels *incredibly* janky, and nothing is explained. The game doesn't tell you when it's saving. And it's an autosaver, so that's... uh... that's bad. I haven't hit any actual bugs, but the moment to moment gameplay *feels* like I should expect a bugfest. It's unbelievably easy to get stuck on terrain, or trapped in corners by mobs, or completely obscured by stuff in the foreground, and that's without the unexplained sanity system coloring and obstructing your screen. And sometimes you'll spawn in a new room that's got a mob of enemies right in front of your face and you're stuck in a pocket. The detective can dodge roll out. Hope you're playing him. There's also more grind in 2, and that's why I think I'm washing out of it. You have a hub area. You can farm crafting mats and consumable items. You can stockpile artifacts and unlock new crafting recipes and upgrade your gear. It all takes a dog-ton of materials, though, and actual resource gathering runs suck because of how bad the core movement feels and because of how limited your inventory space is. I think this is overall the more stable, polished, and playable-by-humans of the two Untold Stories games, but I'm still tentative on recommending it. The art being dope and the story being interesting isn't quite enough to paper over everything else feeling flat, bland, and frustrating. If you hunger for mysterious jogos, then yeah. These are those. But if you want something polished, maybe see if it's gotten another big balance patch since 9/28/23, the date of this review. With doubled inventory size, better weapon damage, and some sort of safety net to stop you from being one-tapped because you spawned in a corner-mob and someone threw a grenade, I think this could be genuinely fun, but it isn't yet. Edit: Apparently the game was WAY buggier on launch, with even slower movement (somehow) and even jankier object collision (somehow).
Game is still a complete buggy mess, had multiple runs where a store or something would freeze, wiping any progress. Icons not showing up, among other things. Just buy the first one, it's SOOO much better then this, so glad I got this junk on sale.
The first game was a buggy janky mess. But I loved it. It was an amazing albeit sometimes frustrating game. This one just sucks. I don't know what I'm supposed to do, and I wasn't able to get into it. Maybe I'll try again sometime, but it's just so much worse than the original that I can't bring myself to like it. And don't get me wrong the original was a mess.
