Hilarious, enjoyable way to spend an afternoon or two if you're a follower of Chris Chan's story! While I wouldn't classify this game as something worth playing for it's own sake due to how clunky it can be, it's length, and barebones level design it's definitely a very creative look into the mindset of one of the Internet's most interesting individuals with a decade + rapsheet of being a massive weirdo (later criminal). The game is a very cool meta commentary on how Chris Chan views the world and tries to navigate it; her worldview is incredibly small and she doesn't seem to want to improve herself in anyway, so while they're not necessarily good points, the basic level design, simple art style (heavily inspired by the old Pokemon games; gotta give the creator props for that given Chris Chan's obsession with Pokemon), and clunky mechanics feel analogous to how Christine sees the world and operates, as in with the understanding of a child who believes strongly in cartoon logic Some bugs I found mainly revolved around getting softlocked in a couple levels of Starkat which I brought to the creators attention; mainly involving enemies spawn camping you with how the levels are programmed. He assured me that he's looking into it, though, so expect that to be fixed soon! Otherwise a really smooth experience besides the super floaty physics which like I said feel is almost intentional because of the above All in all I'd definitely recommend it to my fellow Christorians or even my other gamer friends for something on the weird side of things. I'll definitely keep tabs on Otis future works!
10/10 Would Starkat again
Хорошая и интересна инди-игра на пару часов. Подойдёт, чтобы как-нибудь расслабиться вечерком или пробежаться спидраном за 30м.
I played this game at 1:00 am when I had work tomorrow and went insane. A good game would replay 100 times out of 100 would recommend if you are chill with some janky controls. I'm gonna try to do my own love quest so I'm going to the mall. Wish me luck guys!
It's different. Gameplay is rough but experience is fairly unique. Worth it if you're feeling adventurous.
If you're interested in this game it's probably because you get the underlying reference that Love Quest is making, i.e. "this is a game about infamous internet personality Christian Weston Chandler". It's the reason why I picked up the game. I got the joke. The wink. The nod. This is a simple game that focuses on the era of Chris' life where he would go to the mall with his "attraction sign" and try to solicit boyfriend-free girls. Love Quest takes a few creative liberties with the story by making you approach the girls as the player character first though. As the ladies turn you down you'll lose some of your Heart meter until your heart is shattered and at 0%. From there you'll need to retreat back home and play some Starkat, a sidescrolling platforming game featuring your wholly original creation. I get it, Starkat is an analog for Sonichu. You'll need to complete the levels in Starkat before you can return to the mall the next day. Each time you return to the mall there will be more and more security guards ("Jerkops") to dodge. Without spoiling too much more of the game I can say if you're even passively familiar with the Chris-chan lore you'll pick up on the major notes in this game. Chris-chan may have turned into an absolute monster who went on to do something truly unspeakable to his mother but this game hearkens back to simpler times when Chris was just some buffoon yelling at his webcam to Clyde Cash and the other trolls being a thorn in his side. There's not much game here but there are some secrets to uncover and for $5 it's worth a spin.
This game can't even compete with low-quality RpgMaker games. The stealth-situations in the video are even less exciting in the actual game, the Sonic-clone game lacks a lot of control issues and the message of the story wasn't that deep too, so I can't even recommend it as some kind of artwork. Seriously, why offering it for almost 5 bucks?!
