Reviews
Okay, serious review time. Is this a good game? No. This is a lesson in tedium, repetition, and fighting the mechanics of a platformer that is actively trying to thwart you with its cumbersome controls. You will spend 10% of your time, or less, playing as Chris Chan, and 90% of your time playing Starkat, a Sonic-esque, but Bubsy-like torture experience of a platformer. Fitting as Chris spent 90% of his life on video games and 10% actually living. The world is small, with a miniscule mall to explore, and a handful of NPCs to interact with, and the colouring is sterile and boring. Yet all of this works. The game is a meta commentary akin to Spec Ops The Line, and Undertale, but shone through the lens of Chris-Chan's ugly world. For him, the world is boring, empty, and small. He has nothing to live for, no companionship, and his loneliness shines through. The game of Starkat has some genius concepts, especially when you first defeat the master troll. This is a game that requires you to attack it with the autistic determination of headbutting your way through a brick wall - the game will misguide you, lie to you, and deceive you, with the sole intention of immersing you into the role of chris chan. You are not the hero of this story... you are just an instrument for making things worse. The secret ending is something I don't want to spoil, but it really was what turned this game around for me. Finally, some suggestions: - Make the mall a little larger, a bit more bright, and perhaps add some security guards, a food court, diversify the shops, add pepper spray ¬.¬ - Mary Lee Walsh college love quest DLC - Snyder board game store DLC Respect to the creator for this true and honest game of kick the autistic.
If you are considering buying this game because you know about Chris Chan and want to play a funny reference of his life, do NOT buy this game. I bought this game not really expecting much. I figured the game would have poor visuals on purpose but compensate with some puns and references. Yet I was disappointed. 1) The game can soft-lock you frequently, this can happen either by standing in some random spots or even talking to other characters. I got stuck at least 8 times just trying to get to day 2. The game is clearly not tested. 2) The Starkat mini-game is super janky. It is nearly impossible to maneuver the character. 3) The game has very little content and it very uninspired. Not only the visuals of the game, but also dialog is very bland, there are barely any jokes in here. You can finish the entire game in less than a couple of hours. My conslusion is that this game was developed in a rush, either for a game jam or just to make a quick buck. The idea had so much potential, and yet it delivers nothing.
this game saved my marriage Actually has a pretty good moral lesson if you can figure out how to get the good ending.
Buy it if you are a gaming geek who spent a lonely Valentine's Day. I laughed a lot at the humor and the storytelling that exceeded my expectations. In addition, the action game in the game is an excellent level design, seemingly difficult but easy to solve with ingenuity. I won't spoil the story, but it combines retro adventure and action to create a unique and didactic tale. While short, it is well worth the price and I recommend playing through to the true end.
just finished watching part 10 of the Chris Chan documentary so this is a pretty fun find

The soft lock is infuriating. The character randomly becomes stuck and unable to move, requiring a restart. This is especially terrible in the maze where you're being chased. Had it happen roughly a dozen times before giving up.
This game is a neat little romp, but I can't really say I'd recommend it for those not aware of Christory. I don't know what all these "softlocks" are in other reviews. I never experienced any. It seems solid to me. I think it could do with more achievements to signify that you actually got an ending. The True ending is haunting and I love it.
у разработчика мама вернулась после химиотерапии и сказала ему на последок, если ты не сделаешь эту игру классной, то я умру. в итоге она умерла
Funny, weird, and a little horror-y. Good game!
