Lost Lands: The Wanderer Collector's Edition
Yes I know the name is Lost Lands so you don't stay in the city but it started off all cozy in the apartment then you're transported to wacky alice in wonderland style lands. But the fun ends when you have to stick this random item into this meaningless slot. Sure there are characters to meet along the way but them boom right back into another puzzle. You move along then boom yet another puzzle. I'm tired of sticking weird random items into strange slots. So lazy and boring. There are bonus items to collect, some nice papers explaining the background of the creatures you meet along the way. But it's otherwise another phoned in bigfish type game that just farts along. Lots of map jumping and random arbitrary puzzle crap. Worst of all are the main characters horrendous atrocious glasses! You never really get over them enough to actually enjoy the game. They're so dumb and stupid looking I was actually hoping for her to fall off a cliff!
yes
A ladder breaks the 3rd time I climb it..? And so of course now I have to repair it before I use it again. I have a lock pick but it doesn't 'work' for any locks in the game, at least not right now. I finally find a handle for this shovel I've been carting around but oh no, it doesn't fit. Of course. Well I'll just have to whittle it down so it will work, but holy crap, now the knife's so dull I need to find a way to sharpen it before I can even do that. I'm carrying 2-3 different sharp tools in my inventory but for some reason none of them is able to cut a stray piece of bamboo? And on, and on, and... ad infinitum, ad nauseum. You know, it seems there's quite a bit of filler here, way to much padding out with senseless tasks. I lost patience and stopped playing. If it weren't for that though, I would have enjoyed my time with this game much more. I don't either recommend or not recommend this one, but I had to choose in order to post this review. Try it out and see for yourself. Some may have more patience for these things than I.
This is not my favorite game from the series, but it is still one of the better games of this genre that I have played. It follows the usual format. I think there is a minor defect. The map does not show green on areas where there is activities. (I think it may be a defect that cropped up with later Windows versions, because I think it worked when I first played this game a few years ago.) The fast map travel does work, it's just that it doesn't show green for locations that have remaining activities. The one downside that some people may not like is there is a lot of back and forth between locations. I personally like that, but some people may not. The hidden object scenes are interactive, not just the old school one where you find a list of items. I like both types! The entire series is great. Probably the best I've played in the genre. The games in this series are about the only ones of this genre that I would think is worth the money they charge you here on Steam.
7.5/10

Another great game in the Lost Land series. The hidden objects are pretty much scenes with silhouettes where you find one thing to do another. But the graphics, the story, the music is all wonderful, and you do a lot of back tracking to obtain objects but it isn't too tedious if you use the fast map. I love all the games in this series.
We are back once more! Pirate stuff this time... Not really. Not fully. Just it has a single pirate who is asleep... Oh wait... There might be another one with a giant hammer... Once again Susan/MC is here to save the day and... This game feels rather different from the other "Lost Lands" series. It feels like this one was worked on by rather tired people or the magic from creating "Lost Lands" is gone. Like even the puzzles are easier too... Hell, the "stick this window piece into window" puzzle? It has silhouettes! I don't remember these game series having such superbly and overly helpful hint areas. Now don't get me wrong... This game is STILL far better than some rather... Extremely tedious H.O.G.s where you spend majority of the time walking around the same area 30x times and trying to remember where the hell to stick an item into! Ugh... But yes it's um... Different. And I could've sworn it said you have to have a "sacrifice" in order to get the pirate captain out... But no one died...? I may have missed something... Happens. Oh well. I didn't really mind it and I like the Beaver guy and his athleticism. THANK YOU! :) :>
