Lost Civilization

I bought this based on the "adventure" and "point & click" categories but it's almost entirely hidden objects and it. is. DULL. And also nonsensical. At one point you poison an innocent man just to get somewhere, at another point you walk right past a restaurant with, presumably, a fully stocked kitchen which would have a knife and a hotel with, as you already know from an earlier scene, a working phone that you could call the cops from, to go mess around in an alley for 20 minutes solving a puzzle to get a knife to really, really slowly save your beloved from a really, really, REALLY obvious trap. You have to backward to previous scenes where puzzles that didn't previously exist now do but that's not always obvious, and the images chosen are sometimes so poor that it's impossible to tell what you're looking at, and yet somehow and simultaneously also, as other reviews have pointed out, there is SO MUCH hand holding in this game it's insulting, and at less than an hour in (over a couple days with several breaks when I got too bored to keep going, I am too bored to finish. I don't like the heroine and the hero is just a body I haven't actually had any conversation with and at this point I guess the fascist villains win this one.

When I couldn't pick myself up to start a 'real' game from my collection today, I chose to install this game on a whim. It's a remake of Nibiru, an adventure game from 2005 I've never heard of. The type of gameplay was changed and now it's a hidden-object game with a few simple puzzles, minor point-and-click elements and one odd very simple turn-based 2D stealth minigame. The plot is an outlandish story of archaeologists searching for alien technology the Nazis were searching for in the last days of WWII to turn the tide of war. The hunt leads from the Isle of Wight to Prague, back to England and finally to the jungle of Mexico. As I've never played a HOG before, I can't judge if it's a good representative. I don't regret my time with it as it provided quick successes and I now can claim to have played one of them. I guess it does what gamers expect from this genre. While I would have liked a well-written story, interesting characters or clever puzzles, those are probably not to be found in any HOG.

This is basically Hidden Object version of NiBiRu: Age of Secrets. I'm curious as to why that game hasn't made its way to Steam yet.

Decent hidden object game. Story is fine, not too many hidden object scenes and decent puzzles.

The story's the usual boring nonsese. The hidden object screens are okay, the rest of the game is way too simplistic. Constantly had problems taking items out of my inventory because they kept sliding back into it for some reason. I don't know if it's just my system but the game was visually buggy. First time playthrough: 2 hours 36 minutes 4/10

I was enjoying the game but it crashed repeatedly. I tried playing by going into the lostcivilization. exe file and running it as the administrator but it still crashed every few minutes.

It's kind of a kick to play the old adventure game Niboru (sp? - Uncle gives name early in game) as a HOG.

O jogo é de objetos ocultos, assim como os da Artifex Mundi. O visual é simples e a história é legalzinha.

Although the graphics are bad and there is a lot pixel hunting the game is good. It would be better with voice acting, but it is old. A good buy at a low price :-)
