As others have pointed out, Lost Civilization is a remake of the game Nibiru: Age of Secrets which was released in 2005. Nibiru itself was a remake of the Czech game Messenger of Gods which was released in 1998. I don’t know how much of Lost Civilization is original, but one thing is definitely new. Unlike Nibiru, Lost Civilization is a Hidden Object Game (HOG). Lost Civilization has flaws, but it’s not too bad if you’re mainly interested in the hidden object scenes. In addition to traditional HOG scenes with lists of items to find, there are also some scenes where you have to place items into a scene. For example, you might have a fly and you have to place it by a spider’s web. I’ll go with a slight thumbs up for the hidden object scenes. I didn’t have any problems running it under Windows 10 even though this game is about six years old. However, this game does not have features that have been added to HOGs over the years, such as Steam achievements, a bonus chapter, an instant travel map, or even a regular map. Admittedly, an instant travel map isn’t really necessary because the point and click part is rather easy. If you can’t find an item you need, then you’ll obtain it when you solve the next hidden object scene. I didn’t like all the mini-games, but a little trial and error is enough to get through them. I was able to finish the game without a walkthrough. One thing that seemed odd to me was the limited voice acting in this game. What there was sounded okay, but only a fraction of the dialogue is voiced. Most of the dialogue is text only. It appears that the developers ran out of money and couldn’t afford to have all the dialogue voiced. Final verdict. This game might be okay if you don’t have high expectations for it.
Incredibly disappointed. I purchased this under the impression that it was a point and click adventure, but it's actually a hidden object game.
A not particularly good and a bit buggy hidden object game. Works without any issues on Linux with Proton (5.0-5).
Low resolution, wide option just stretches whole game, almost no voice over, game doesn't constrain mouse cursor so if you have two monitors you can easy go on second one and minimize game some parts are tedious or silly or both :)
some says this is rip-off of "NiBiRu: Age of Secrets" and some says this is just remake some how ?? i need to play NiBiRu: Age of Secrets to find out but its not on steam xD not bad game anyway ...
pros + a intriguing and exciting story about the search for evidence of a 12th planet with alien life and technology that the Germans were trying to acquire during the war. you are an amateur female archaeologist who try to rescue her kidnapped fiancé from some bad guys. + differently designed and nice variety HO scenes which prevent to repetition + easy and fun to solve puzzle and mini games + nice musics + limited but decent voice acting + hint system and diary helpful + it's sequel to my favourite point and click game NIBIRU: Age of Secrets + three difficulty option cons - slow trips on the map getting tedious after a while - there are no steam achievements and cards - could have been more challenging - no map - too much unnecessary talking for an hidden object game. i skipped some of npc conversations Overall, this is an decent hidden object game.
Despite some technical issues, the game was overall fun to play. OK, the story is foreseeable and somewhat cliche'd, the characters stereotypical, but which HOG is different in that regard? Not many, cause I played A LOT of them over the years. So as an avid HOG player, it's just what it is. The technical issue I had, was, that the Fullscreen option did not scale properly. I only saw like a quarter of the game on screen. I guess it's due to having screen scaling set rather high (175% for my 4K monitor), the game didn't cope with it properly. In the end I had to play windowed, which was rather exhausting. What I liked about the game design and I don't recall having seen anywhere else, is, that you not only have to find items in the HOG scene, but - like half the time - properly place items from your list into the scene. For things like "put a cherry to another cherry" that's easy, but sometimes you had to think outside the box. Like a feather didn't go to another feather or a bird, but to an ink well instead. So that was refreshing. As said, the rest of the game is pretty much as you would expect it, in total that pushes it over into the positive zone.
I bought this based on the "adventure" and "point & click" categories but it's almost entirely hidden objects and it. is. DULL. And also nonsensical. At one point you poison an innocent man just to get somewhere, at another point you walk right past a restaurant with, presumably, a fully stocked kitchen which would have a knife and a hotel with, as you already know from an earlier scene, a working phone that you could call the cops from, to go mess around in an alley for 20 minutes solving a puzzle to get a knife to really, really slowly save your beloved from a really, really, REALLY obvious trap. You have to backward to previous scenes where puzzles that didn't previously exist now do but that's not always obvious, and the images chosen are sometimes so poor that it's impossible to tell what you're looking at, and yet somehow and simultaneously also, as other reviews have pointed out, there is SO MUCH hand holding in this game it's insulting, and at less than an hour in (over a couple days with several breaks when I got too bored to keep going, I am too bored to finish. I don't like the heroine and the hero is just a body I haven't actually had any conversation with and at this point I guess the fascist villains win this one.
