if you like console based 'souls like' games, then this would be for you.. I personally despise these time wasting 'redo til you get it right' type games.. it doesnt prove anything other than the devs are targetting brain dead people who have huge amounts of time and are willing to constantly repeat the same thing and consider that fun. but even given that, the combat is slow and clumsy... for you, while the enemy have lightning reflexes (even the huge enemy). the stamina levels are utterly stupid, you barely have enough to swing twice.. and they have the hated roll to dodge mechanic which only absolute moronic devs utilise, because it would be impossible to roll in metal armour, let alone get up! but it is also connected to stamina, so you can either roll to dodge or do actual combat. the 'engagement' of the weapon with enemy is utter trash.. combat is just a chore. not fun at all, and just proves how idiotic these devs are! then there is the health potion.. so far the only way to get them is at the save point.. the game doesnt explain any of these 'mechanics', all it does is really basic intro at the start on how to move (which is pathetic! as you can work out that!!). and even some of the 'hints' are still using controller terminology! the interface is also extremely poor (probably because it came from console).. story is pretty trash, side quests arent tracked. just a really bad game.. wouldnt even recommend it if it was for free

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

The OG is still a bad ass adventure
NO!NO NO NO! With Level Bosses like this you kill gaming. Senceless Difficulitiy ...
well, a nice optimization - pc does not heat. it's world is dark enough for me to like it, the combat system is not arcade - ty, i only encountered 2 crashes per 30 hours of my run - btw one was during the final cutscene, but when i returned i had a ng+ save - fine by me
Na svou dobu to byla zajímavá hra, zajímavý námět celkově fajn uvidíme jak se vyvinula LOTF 2 :)
YA BUAT PEMULA BOLELLAH
Lots of fun if you play as the developers intended. However, that does severely limit playstyle as you are often forced to use different weapons to fight different bosses easily. The story is nearly non-existent but so are a lot of souls-like games. There is the usual grind of killing the same enemies over and over that we have come to expect but not nearly to the extent of some games in the genre. Overall, a fun time waster especially at the sub $5 price tag. Just don't expect a masterpiece.
I recommend this game on sale. It regularly goes on sale for 90% off or more, and at that price, it's a steal and easily worth the money. Wouldn't recommend paying full price for it. And there's no going wrong, cause even if you don't like the game you get an artbook and soundtrack with it (find in the game folder), and those alone are worth the couple bucks it costs on sale.
Graphics
I was pleasantly surprised at the graphics of this game. Was expecting a lot worse for a 10+ year old game. I thought the graphics looked great. Obviously not Elden Ring quality, but quite good in its own right. Liked the art design of the world and characters. The cutscenes in this game were fantastic, I was blown away by the first cutscene.
Combat
The gameplay isn't great for a souls-like, but it's serviceable. Has its fun moments. The biggests problems are the lock-on and the camera. Camera is upredictable and can go crazy sometimes. Lock on doesn't always work, or targets wrong enemies, or doesn't change targets when you try to. Another annoyance is that the animations for stealth kills take far too long and are unskippable. One complaint I have is that spells seem too OP, where it's almost mandatory to max out your spells, even if you're playing the "warrior" class. The boss fights in this game are not nearly as good as in say Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring. In fact, I prefered some regular enemy fights over some of the boss fights.
Level-design
There aren't very many locations in this game. Instead, you travel back to the same locations at different parts in the story. They did a good job at making levels interconnected. My biggest criticism is that it's very easy to get lost. There is no map, and a lot of assets get reused so you can get confused as to where you are. Plus, layouts were just confusing in general. I think they could of improved this aspect of the game. There are side areas to unlock and explore, but some of it is just too tedious to bother with. For instance, you can find keys to unlock things, but the keys aren't always very descriptive as to what they unlock, esp cause there's no map.
UI/UX
It's not horrible, but could be improved a lot. The biggest annoyance is with sifting through your inventory for gear to swap to. You can at least "favourite" gear, which helps a lot. But the sorting and viewing functions of the inventory screen are lacking. And what compounds the issue a lot is that you can't store or discard unwanted items. For viewing, they went with a very weird and clunky approach. It's like Diablo 3's inventory which is a wheel-select for all the gear pieces. When you select a gear-piece like gloves, you always see your equipped gloves, but you can't see the full stats of the gear you're comparing to it unless you change view modes, and this mode doesn't let you see all your other gloves. There are some stats on gear that are never explained, and one even seems to do absolutely nothing; the "Power" stat. The sorting of gear could be better, too. For instance, you can't sort weapons by speed or energy use. For some reason, the sort option for sorting your favourites to the top is called "value", and this is confusing to new players. It would be nice if you were able to pin your favourites to the top when using other sorting modes. The UI for the crafting is just horrible as you can't specify the amount of EXP you want to gamble, and you can't lower it either (you hold RT to gamble EXP for better results. Only way to lower the amount is to leave the screen). You can't rebind keybinds, which is a bummer, but the defaults are good, and there is at least an alt button set to switch to.
Innovations
When you die, you drop your "souls" like in most souls-like games. But you need to reach your death-point quickly, as the amount you get back will diminish over time. Another change is how gaining "souls" is handled. Every kill you make increases a multiplier, but you lose this multiplier when you rest. So it is a risk-reward system to rest or not. Resting is also slightly different as resting doesn't cause monsters to respawn - only dying does. Plus, rest sites have charges for how many flasks they refill, and these charges take time to respawn (but they respawn when u die). So you can't just keep coming back to the same rest site if you take damage too quickly. I liked all these innovations and hope they carried at least some of these over to their new game.
Souls-Like Failures
This game copies A LOT from the Dark Souls franchise. Even to its detriment, as it even copies the worst aspects of those games. The biggest example of this is the "kick" move. You will find that you will often do this kick accidentally, when you were trying to just attack instead, and this will often cost you big time in combats. And it's just silly to even have the kick in this game, as there are almost no places to use it effectively. But of course the few times you want to kick you'll probably fail at it like I did, lol. In this game, every weapon "type" has its own moveset. Meaning all swords play the same, all daggers do, etc. This is a downgrade from games like Elden Ring, where every single weapon had its own unique set. And in LOTF, some weapon types are just way too slow and clucky to ever use, so you'll prob just end up sticking to the one or two weapon types that feel good to you to use.
Bugs & Performance
Overall, the game had great performance for me. It was stuttering a bit at first, but after adjusting some graphics options, that went away. There are a few bugs I encountered, but overall it's not too buggy. I noticed that some of the information the game gave me was straight up wrong; for instance it says to have max roll speed you need to be under 25% carry limit, but it's actually 40%.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it's worth a try at its sale price. It will frustrate you at times, but also have some great fun moments. It's really short compared to the main Dark Souls games. Took me only 2 days to beat.
