I waited years to play this game because my old computer couldn't run it. Now that I finally decided to splurge on a Steam Deck and can run the game I was so incredibly disappointed by it. It's mainly the combat - it's absolutely atrocious. It's so bad it made me hate almost every moment I was playing it. There's probably worse games out there... I think, but I definitely wouldn't recommend LotF 2014 to anyone. The only reason I was able to pull through and get the hundo (100% achievements) is thanks to the Twisted Winds community I'm a part of. Ye gotta get the hundo :D
The original Lords Of The Fallen (2014) I enjoyed more when it came out on PS4. I decided to pick this up and replay it before playing the new soft reboot/Sequel Lords of the Fallen (2023). This game was one of the first Souls-like games to be mildly popular back in the day, although most people seemed to not like it. I always thought it was fine. It's not an amazing game, but it's pretty decent. The combat is much more slow compared to Dark Souls (which already has slow combat compared to most action RPGs). The timing for combos is so slow that you usually have to wait longer than you think you do before the next input. Otherwise, the game will drop your inputs. There seems to be no queuing of actions like in Dark Souls. Heavy armor and shields are much more valuable in this game than Dark Souls. Especially shields as their hitboxes for blocking are active even when the shield is on your back. But this also works against you as the same applies to the enemies. I remember thinking this was a cool feature, but having to deal with the many enemies that constantly have their shields up is so annoying that I now would rather this feature didn't exist. For weapons, it seems that dual wield weapons are generally better as the combos DPS is incredibly high. The story is okay, nothing amazing but it does setup the background lore for the series as in the 2023 game the events of the 2014 game appear to have all taken place. The dialogue is kind of stiff or funny at times, but it's good enough. The game is quite short, especially on repeat playthroughs. Although there is not really any replay value due to how the combat works there does not seem to be much room to experiment. Magic is a secondary tool that mainly consists of support spells. Each class has magic, but there is really only 1 spell per class that is worth using. Decide if you want a heal, stealth, or damage. That's about it. The real issues seem to be a lot of bugs that are only being encountered for me on the second playthrough. Randomly during dialogue my controller is dropped in favor of the keyboard and mouse, there seems to be some occasional slowdown, I once died twice in a row (died, spawned and instantly died without anything being near me), and checkpoints don't always seem to work. A few times I have reached a checkpoint and quit the game for the day only to come back and have to re-fight a boss or go back through a few minutes of an area. I don't remember these bugs being present in the PS4 version, but I don't doubt that they were. Maybe I just unlucky this time. There are about 5 or so sidequests, and a handful of secret walls. Otherwise it is a straight forward experience. There are a few lore scrolls and items that are only available on NG+ but they aren't worth playing the game again. Also, the game only goes to NG++ after which you cannot start a new playthrough. I don't know why. I know there is nothing else to find after that, but really they just make you have a dead save? In any case, this game is okay for one playthrough and not much else. If it's on sale for a few dollars and your interested it might be worth it. Otherwise I'd just look up all the cutscenes if you want the story.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Eu me adaptei melhor a segunda opção, bastão como arma, armadura leve e escudo pequeno.
As you’ve known me to state in the past, I don’t review every game I play. A game must strike an emotional chord with me for it to convey its virtues, vices, and shortcomings onto paper (or in this case, computer screen.) Lords of the Fallen, however, went beyond that. I can’t help but feel the game took a piece of me and claimed it for its own. Hacked or sawed flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone and kept it there in its deep dark fortress. I have no choice but to log my experience with the game, a cathartic expunge of the dark things swimming in my brain. Lords of the Fallen, which is impossible to not compare to Dark Souls, really does have its own signature flair in its carnival of dark fantasy horrors. Portraying a criminal released from a life sentence in the big house to rescue a kingdom from invading demon forces from another dimension. Deck 13, a German developer, produced this game as a double A title in the same vein as Dark Souls, basically a rip off, it was one of the first and one of the best to do so, with a better storyline and an easily followed plotline. People clamor about how easy the game is compared to Dark Souls, but that certainly was not my experience. It’s a 20 hour game, but it took me 100 hours to beat. There truly is nothing worse than totally sucking at a hobby you’re so passionate about. It’s about as bad as it gets. In typical fashion for ARPGs such as this, defeating bosses is all about patience, learning their attack moves, and timing your parries to stay alive long enough to beat them. Some bosses took me over a hundred attempts before I felled them like California Redwood trees. But the boss fights is not what accounted for the excessive time spent in this game, it was the horrible mapping involved. I spent over ten hours looking for a simple lever which unlocked the other half of the map I needed to obtain to fight the next boss in succession. Speaking of bosses, the final boss did me in. I discovered I had the wrong build to take him on and oddly, there was no feasible way to respec my character. I ended up having to cheat him to beat him. I was set to do a NG+ but that final boss left a sour taste.
There are bad and broken games made all the time. There can be a ton of reasons, but there are specific games made solely to misguide and disrespect players. I really wished I could enjoy another cool looking Dark Fantasy if not a good Souls-Like. Lord of the Fallen is not only one of the worst video games of all time, it’s clearly made with the bare minimum effort while pretending to deliver something genuinely cool. Minor Issues: -Story and exploration are rushed and poorly done. -You can tell that each location's structure or art in some cases don't feel different or unique to the last (This line unlike other criticism I'm going for, is compared to Fromsoftware games) Serious Issues: -Each and every step you take along with every single action (whether it's opening a simple door or a striking an enemy) will shake the camera so much to the point, you cannot go on for 15 minutes without motion sickness or a headache. This was implanted in the game and (likely senior) devs never made the effort to address or fix it, despite the criticism for over a decade. -Combat and movement are so clunky especially with delayed inputs, awkward lock-on mechanic, and rolling which again shakes the camera enough to give a headache.. Finally, the reboot that released in 2023 did fix some of the problems but still have bad level design and yes, still motion sickness.
A frustatingly fun game, The ambience, soundtrack and artstyle is sooo good, But the combat feels like the most overweight person in planet earth is fighting against the gods. The Guy can hardly move!! Also the later levels are just trying to ragebait the players with cheap difficulty tricks. Negatives far outweigh the positives for this game sadly. Now to tryout the reboot!
This is more of a neutral review. All throughout playing the game, I kept wavering between thinking this game was garbage and thinking I kind of like this game. This game is a buggy mess with some poor design choices and lack of enemy variety where you feel like you are playing in mud, but it does scratch a certain souls itch. There are honestly so many noticeable flaws to the game, and it is vastly inferior to the Dark Souls trilogy. However, there were still redeemable parts to the game that made me think "oh hey this ain't too bad". For one, most bosses fights were interesting. As someone who has played through the Souls/Elden Ring games, I'd say most of the bosses actually leaned to the easier side, but they had cool designs and attacks to learn (except the twins and the final boss, which were both absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terribly designed battles of attrition). The environment was also pretty cool to travel around in, esp when some areas linked back up. But it really seemed like every good thing would just get offset by a bad thing, such as my screen shaking like crazy for no reason at all, fighting a heavy armored enemy for the 1 millionth time, or getting shot through the wall. Honestly, I would not recommend this game to anyone aside from hardcore souls fans looking to scratch an itch. This game is just not a good starting place for anyone who isn't familiar with the genre. However, if you are a souls player that is looking for a game to pass the time between the next Fromsoft game, this could be for you.
This game are soo goooooodd.. I bleeding.. burned.. fell.. thrown.. hurt.. killed.. but I managed to reach the goal of graduating.. souls like easy in my opinion.. you can even multiply your XP.. amazing game.. and underrated 100% Don't mind the people who say this game are bad.. they just don't want their treasure to be enjoyed by many people.. This game is very cheap during sale. but it is not cheap in making me a little tortured. .
I didnt like the mechanics and gameplay at all. Unless you get it free i dont reccomend buying it with spending money which you can rather save and spend on souls-like games with better mechanics.
