Russian friend recommended me this game, saying it wipes the floor with all the Paradox games and is peak court intrigue simulator. What sold me the game, though, is the bizarre development story - apparently one of the developers was criminally convicted for glorifying terrorism and was coerced into inhaling inmate farts in prison. At that point I knew I couldn't miss this one. Unfortunately, this feels like an attempt at making a functional game, instead of a fun and engaging one. It works, it has an ending and it imitates gameplay quite well. It is indeed a game. Not a fun or interesting, though. Maybe if it was one of the no-name Miniclip dot com flash games from early 2000s it could become a classic. Obviously it cant compare to actual strategy games. Outside of okay visual style and alright soundtrack, I fail to understand who can find this engaging enough to justify even the tiny price it costs.
Overall Impression: Pretty good! Playing through all three levels is quite engaging, and achievement hunting adds extra entertainment value - what more could you ask for? While it might not reach the heights of FTL or Into the Breach, it's still quite enjoyable and worth spending a few hours with. The game shines in several aspects: the visuals are charming, the lore is entertaining, and there are some clever Easter eggs scattered throughout. The core gameplay mechanics are interesting, with the final puzzle often requiring some serious thought. I particularly enjoyed the rock-paper-scissors combat system, which adds a nice tactical layer to the experience. Special mention goes to the developer's dedication - their response to bug fixes has been impressively swift. I checked the game next day after release and was pleasantly surprised to find that zero day bugs had been completely resolved! There are some minor drawbacks. The building system could use some balancing - some structures provide rather negligible bonuses, while others seem to lack clear purpose. The soldier improvement mechanics don't feel as impactful as they could be, since success in combat largely depends on mastering the rock-paper-scissors system. A time-skip feature would be a welcome addition, though this is a minor concern that could be addressed in future updates. Regarding the controversial font choice, I actually find it quite charming. It reminds me of classic 90s quest games, adding a nice vintage feel to the experience. Final Verdict: 6.5/10 - A solid score, especially impressive for a developer's debut title!
gg wp. totally worth it, should be two or three times more expensive. Should have been this. Not an astro bot
