Highly recommend. The way the mana works is unique. Tons of characters and relics to unlock. Fun gameloop. Would like to see more ships.

This is a great roguelike builder. I don't want to call it a deckbuilder, because technically it doesn't involve a deck of cards. (Maybe the resources work a bit like a deck of cards, I'm still unclear on that.) However, it scratches a similar itch. It's that building/optimization/synergy finding sort of gameplay. There's lots of different items and starting abilities to enable different synergies. Also from a story perspective, the game is light on plot but there's a ton of different fun, lighthearted event writing to keep you entertained. There's a lot of little features that make the roguelike gameplay more enjoyable. You can reroll character and trait combinations at the start (a limited number of times), and choose a character that will show up, This makes it much easier to get specific synergistic trait combinations, and really cuts down on the restarting that you have to do in a lot of roguelikes. There's a preview that shows up in battle before you load an energy, which makes it easy to see at a glance what the results of a move will be and when you have enough damage to win, without having to do a lot of math. There's a button during battles that you can press to go back to the building section before the start of the battle, so you can change your strategy if there's something about the enemy you didn't understand. There's probably more things that I'm forgetting, I think it's a sign of a good quality of life feature if you just don't notice it. The one complaint I have is that some descriptions are unclear, which can cause you to make bad choices out of misunderstanding what something does and possibly even lose a run. This seems to be a result of a poor English translation. I saw someone say that the translation was done by a volunteer. I wish that they would consider getting this professionally translated and proofread if the game does well. I doubt that they will, but that's another reason that I hope this game is successful. I got this game on sale, but I think it's worth full price or even more. It's very well designed, I found it fun and easy to play, and it really scratches that variety and building itch. Highly recommended.
TLDR: Raring 85 / 100 The game is a "deck builder" type. You fight one enemy ship and after each fight you get various rewards. Positives: - The game has reasonable tactical complexity. You have quite a bit of effects and synergies that you can combine. Somethimes I have to think about the best sequence of using my resources - it's not an "obvious" solution when you have to consider synergies, enemy special abilities, artifacts (treasures)...etc. - You have of pilots (I unlocked about 20 - there is probably more) - each with some some special effects but also 2 random atributes. On top there are a few different ships. This gives enough replayability. - The game has some UI limitations but it does have the option to "preview" what would happen after a specific energy usage. That saves a lot of confusion. - Assuming you win one full run takes about 30-45 minutes after you know the mechanics. This seems to be a good timeframe for a deck-builder. Neutral: - While there is tactical complexity, there isn't much strategy complexity. There isn't much much choice outside of battles. Other similar games (e.g. FTL type) have the option to fight enemy X or enemy Y or enemy Z. So you would have to judge where would your setup be stronger. Or pick a sector that has special effects. Here all fights are predetermined and you cannot choose or avoid an enemy. There are some options post-missions to choose between rewards (e.g. a new module or a treasure) but that's relatively "light" in comparison with other games. Still, I put this on neutral as the game is relatively low / well priced. It's not realistic to expect a lot of strategic depth for game that costs - on sale - similar to a coffee. Negative: - There is some UI information missing now and then. For example, it's not clear how much STR some module get. You can hover the energy and see the final result but the STR notification doesn't work most of the time? Sometimes I see the buff and the amount and sometimes it doesn't show. - Enemy effects are not well shownn. For example, an enemy had an effect that freezes your hand every X turns. It was not clear when that happens. I hover the mouse to see and it said "cooldown 1 turn". But it was not clear if this happens "this turn" or "next turn". Ended up freezing my hand and 1 shooting me. I think powerful effects should be better shown / notified. Incoming damage is clear but some critical side effects can be easily missed. Final note: I think it's a good game. Not very complex - so probably not the type of game you are going to play day-and-night. Most likely you play one level and then put it "on the shelf" until next time.
Fun game if you like the genre. It's very easy to begin with and still *fairly* easy to beat at level 9. "Boss battles" (the mode, not just the levels) are a bit more challenging but still not frustrating. Avoids many of the common roguelite pitfalls - for example the post-run unlocks increase variety by changing starting conditions, not by adding more "stuff", so it doesn't do thing of "the more you play the less likely you are to be able to get synergies because there's too much trash in the random pile now". The only issue I had with it is the issue I have with every Unity game - it makes my CPU and/or GPU heat up and fans kick on even though the graphics aren't very complicated and it's not doing that much.
自古对波左边输!!
Fun game from a new indie studio from China. Turn based FTL feeling mixed with Cowboy Bebop styled jokes. Replay value with a lot of different pilots.
