Logiart Grimoire

Cute logic puzzle game - still waiting for some more challenging puzzles, but it's a good game for multi-tasking right now

This is without a doubt my favorite Picross game so far. The main mechanic in this game that makes it stand out from other Picross games is that you have to fuse previous puzzles together according to a description to unlock new puzzles. It's similar to something like Doodle God or Little Alchemy except you need to fuse specific items instead of just mindlessly fusing everything. It's a neat albeit pretty short detour from just playing normal Picross and I like this addition a good amount. The presentation in this game is also stellar, everything feels really polished and the moving space-like background provides some nice kinetic visuals. This game also has a story (although a pretty small one) about how the player is helping Emil restore all of the pages of the titular Logiart Grimoire so more people will be able to solve Logiart (nonogram) puzzles. Emil chimes in after you clear certain puzzles and usually just adds a little comment, but it's always nice seeing what he has to say. Also, if you fail to fuse a puzzle, there is a random chance that you will unlock one of Emil's Logiart puzzles. These puzzles canonically are Emil's failed attempts at restoring the grimoire, and they feature drawings that don't look as professional as the ones in the grimoire itself, as well as Emil's puzzles not being colorized once you solve them. These puzzles help to add a lot of personality to Emil and are pretty fun to see the finished solutions of. I would not recommend this as someone's first exposure to the nonogram genre, as the puzzles in this game ramp up in difficulty very quickly, with the last puzzle in the game taking me 9 hours to solve on its own. Overall, this game is full of charm and is a big recommendation to anyone who is a fan of nonogram/Picross games. 10/10!
