Русалки и заговоры
Следователь Элайджа работает на организацию, имеющую дело с мифологическими существами. В маленьком французском городке начинают погибать люди при загадочных обстоятельствах и здесь как-то замешаны русалки. Mystery of Myths: Whisper of Depth Collector's Edition – это вновь сюжетный игра на поиск предметов от студии Do Games Limited. Mystery of Myths: Whisper of Depth Collector's Edition – это типичная игра на поиск предметов. Если Вам такой жанр интересен, эта игра Вам понравится. Receiving work-related phone calls during vacation is always a bad sign, and this is what happened to Agent Elijah when his vacation was cut short to investigate the mysterious disappearance of several agents from the French branch, where he was enjoying his time off. You'll join Luciana, who works in the Folklore department, who told you she was investigating and noticed this is related to the myth of the city of YS. With the information you both gathered, you'll learn more about the city of YS, its king, Gradlon, and his exiled daughter, Princess Dahut. The more you learn, the more complicated the story becomes, and it is up to you which side you'll take. There are choices, and they will shape the ending of each chapter and ultimately the ending of the game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3760748069 While the soundtracks felt laid-back, I didn't like any of them except the suspenseful ones; I didn't think they suited the atmosphere at all. However, the artwork of the game is beautiful, and the details are breathtaking. I found it strange that the game doesn't have voice-over; it felt quite empty. There are many puzzles in this game; their variety will challenge you, and you'll never get bored solving them. The hidden object scenes are beautifully made; they take different approaches. The classic list, the silhouette, the matching two, and even spotting the difference. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3760748236 They created a useful journal: a tab to read everything you are going through and track the story, another tab to check all the notes you have collected along the way, and a tab for the task list. The map is interactive; you can fast-travel and check which areas still have actions to complete. You can also track the collectibles' location. Keep in mind that once you finish part of the story, you won't be able to go back to those locations, even if you are still in the same chapter. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3760747628 Pros: +Beautiful visuals and location design. +Ok music. +Great hidden objects scenes. +Useful journal keeps track of the story, notes, and objectives list. +Variety of original puzzles. +Stars system, which will determine the outcome of each chapter (A total of three outcomes of each chapter and a bonus chapter, 12 in total) +Collectables (To unlock an extra hidden objects scene at the end of the game) +Bonus chapter +In-game strategy guide. +Steam achievements. Cons: -You need to purchase a DLC to unlock more areas and choices [6 stars choice] to get extra information for the story. This is required in order to get the true ending, but it doesn't affect the achievements. - No voice-overs. As with all DominiGames, purchasing DLC lets you check the extra room in each chapter for additional information and earn the 6 stars at the decision points. Since the game is already a collector's edition, this DLC should have been included, in my opinion. Hidden object game, adventure, pastime, puzzle. PLOT Agent Elijah Reed, while enjoying a well-deserved vacation in France, receives a call from Imogene. He is asked to go to the Ministry in Quimper to investigate the case of three people who died strangely: they were found drowned in dry rooms and had salt and seaweed on them. He immediately goes to Quimper and at the Ministry meets Luciana Moreau, a folklore expert. Luciana explains to him that there are strange anomalies in the city of Ys. The first place they decide to visit is the Lighthouse, perhaps because it's an isolated place, it might hide something useful. But suddenly something strange happens to him; he's about to drown and is saved by Kepliana, a member of the Kelpies, a ghostly water spirit. As magic threatens the city, Elijah realizes there's no time to waste. The evil spirit of Dahut wants to flood everything and recruit the inhabitants. Morvarch, an unarmored knight who once served Dahut, comes to his aid, but can he trust this Elf? GAMEPLAY Nice adventure looking for objects. Well done graphics and music suited to the theme. Puzzles and minigames with medium difficulty, fun and easy to complete. There are many characters to talk to, sometimes we can choose how to respond, depending on the choice we earn stars, this will influence the ending which changes depending on our choice. This edition is full of collectibles, they are indicated in a box on the left when they are present in the locations. It is possible to purchase a DLC to delve deeper into the story. There is a map for fast travel, a diary to consult, a button for "HINTs". First of all id like to thanks the dev for the free game, i was really glad to get my first HIO through Curator Connect. The game itself is nicely done. The animations are nice and the HOS are not all the same. But now i have to go for the things i didnt like: The gap between hard (or long) minigames and very easy is way to big. For some you need a couple minutes for some not even one. The combinations of some items and places are sometimes just too strange and weird, even for a HIO. The story didnt really hook me, mostly because the cinematics are too strangely made and and the subtitles are gone too fast, even for me who reads pretty quick. But the biggest reason why was because the use of AI ( at least im very sure they are AI). The interaction and the overall expressions are just too funny and weird to make the story even a bit interesting. But the biggest problem i have, with not this but many games like this, is that even though you play the "Collectors Edition" you need to buy a seperate DLC to really get everything. The only extra you can get is one measly HOS and thats it. I know the DLC is just an additional 4 bucks, but if i buy a game that has the words "Collectors Edition" in the name, especially if its a HIO, im sure i have the full contents and not just 4/5 of the game. Also the game teases you to buy it by telling you a few times that you can get more content and another end. This is the reason why i sadly cant recommend the game and any other game that calls itself "Collectors Edition" but doesnt have every content available.
Can't stress this enough, this has to be one of my biggest regrets of buying a game, To buy a collector's edition to then have to BUY a DLC to make other choices... It's literally forcing you to buy MORE .. Voice over's completely gone, and the artwork though pretty, looks very AI :/ So that's on its own is very offputting! Can't say i enjoyed the game, nor that i probably will support this dev, again.
Deaths in a small town draw the attention of an investigator. People drown on land without water. What is it all about with an old legend? It's time to find out. Welcome to MYSTERY OF MYTHS: WHISPERS OF DEPTH COLLECTORS EDITION! MYSTERY OF MYTHS: WHISPERS OF DEPTH COLLECTORS EDITION (Short MOM:WODCE) is a really nice and charming Hidden Object Game. Wonderfull sometimes animated Graphics with hidden animations and Sounds. An exciting Story. Good and fair Hidden Object Scenes and Mini Games. Sometimes Challenging but never unfair. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3707561085 Important, there is extra Content in a DLC for 3,99 Euros. One can now argue whether this is necessary, but I tell myself that developers of anything also have to make a living. I bought the DLC and find the price justified for what is included. Sure, the main game at €15.79 isn't the cheapest HOG either, but Artifex Mundi had these prices as well. It really feels like an Artifex HOG and i love it. There are more HOGs from DO GAMES UNLIMITED out there and i´m excited for more. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3707561536 What i like is, that this time we have a Male Main Character. Mostly there are Female Main Characters in Hidden Object Games and no, i don´t have any Problems with it. But i like a Little Variety. There are also Achievements for the Hunters. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3707562102 A big thanks to the Devs for inviting me to this Journey and thank YOU for reading. This is my first modern hidden object game in quite a while, and it’s safe to say the formula that was established a few years ago is still going strong. These games now feel much closer to casual point and click adventures. Most of the progress comes from using items and solving logical puzzles, while the classic hidden object scenes only appear a handful of times throughout the game, and each time with a slight twist. The story follows investigator Elijah, whose latest case involves several missing people in France who drowned under strange circumstances. As expected for the genre, the mystery quickly goes much deeper and begins to involve myths and supernatural events. The same goes for the cutscenes. Some people might call them a bit artificial by today’s standards, but they have been part of these games for a long time and give the whole experience a certain charm. If there is something new here, it would be the conversation choices that can lead to different outcomes. During certain dialogues with characters, you get to choose between two responses. One of them rewards you with a reputation point, and the total number of points you collect determines which of the three endings you will see. Depending on the difficulty setting you choose, the game may even show you which option gives the better result. Unfortunately, you will not be able to earn all the stars unless you buy the DLC that adds bonus scenes to the main game. At certain points in the story, you will get a chance to visit these scenes, but without the extra content, you will simply have to skip them and continue without seeing them. Gameplay revolves around exploring scenes and searching for interactive spots. The cursor helps you with this by changing into different icons when you hover over something important. Most of the time it turns into a magnifying glass that opens a close up view of a smaller scene, but there are other icons as well. A hand means you can pick something up or interact with it directly, while a cursor with cogs indicates that the spot requires an item. Items are stored in the inventory at the bottom of the screen. You use them by clicking an item to place it on your cursor and then clicking the place where you want to use it. If the item is not correct, it simply returns to the inventory. Finding the right item is usually not too difficult because the solutions tend to make sense and you rarely carry too many items at once. Your character also comments on many interactions, often giving a small hint about what might be needed. Some close up scenes make things even clearer by showing icons of the exact items required, while others only display a question mark. If an item in your inventory has a plus symbol on it, that means it must be combined with one or more other items. Occasionally you will also need to collect several items of the same type, which is indicated by a number next to the item. Like many modern games in this genre, once you finish everything in a close up scene it becomes inactive and can no longer be accessed. The good news is that this also applies to shells, which are the game’s collectibles. You cannot miss them while the scene is still active, though you can lose access to them if you move too far ahead or enter the next chapter. To avoid that, you can check the quick travel menu, which shows icons on scenes that still contain something to collect or points you toward your next objective. There are also plenty of in game achievements, although only some of them transfer to Steam achievements. One thing I appreciate is that the game does not force you to play on the hardest difficulty. Hardcore mode removes all hotspot indicators and hints, but the other two difficulty settings allow hints that show where to go next and where to click. They also enable the skip button for logical puzzles, which can be a real relief if you get stuck.
Developed and published by Do Games Limited, Mystery of Myths: Whisper of Depth Collector's Edition delivers a supernatural detective adventure that successfully blends hidden object gameplay with an engaging tale inspired by ancient legends. The story begins with a baffling case involving victims who have inexplicably drowned inside rooms untouched by water, setting the stage for a mystery that quickly evolves beyond the boundaries of ordinary crime. Players assume the role of Elijah Reed, an investigator whose expertise extends into the paranormal, leading him to France where forgotten myths, eerie folklore, and the legend of a vanished princess gradually reveal themselves. From the opening moments, the narrative establishes an atmosphere filled with suspense, encouraging players to search for answers hidden beneath layers of history and supernatural deception. The gameplay follows the familiar foundation of hidden object puzzle adventures while offering enough variety to maintain a steady sense of progression. Exploration is driven by carefully designed environments packed with clues, interactive objects, and clever environmental details that reward attentive players. Hidden object scenes are complemented by a healthy assortment of logic puzzles, mini-games, and inventory-based challenges that require observation and problem-solving rather than simply locating scattered items. Because nearly every puzzle is tied directly to advancing the investigation, the gameplay rarely feels disconnected from the unfolding narrative, allowing players to remain immersed in the mystery from beginning to end. One of the game's strongest qualities is its presentation. The beautifully illustrated locations create an atmosphere that shifts naturally between peaceful coastal scenery and unsettling supernatural landscapes. Every setting contributes to the growing tension as the investigation uncovers forgotten civilizations, ancient curses, and secrets buried beneath the sea. The game's visual style is supported by atmospheric music and sound effects that enhance the feeling of exploring places where myth and reality overlap. Rather than relying on sudden surprises, the adventure builds suspense through careful pacing and gradual revelations, making each new discovery feel meaningful. The Collector's Edition expands the experience with additional content that will appeal to fans who enjoy exploring every corner of an adventure. Hidden collectibles, achievements, bonus activities, and optional discoveries provide incentives to thoroughly examine each environment. The inclusion of player choices during certain moments also adds a modest level of interaction beyond the standard linear progression, even if the overall storyline remains largely guided. These extra features help extend the adventure while giving completionists additional goals beyond simply reaching the ending. Although the game delivers an entertaining mystery, it does stay within many of the conventions associated with the hidden object genre. Veteran players will likely recognize familiar puzzle structures and progression patterns, while those seeking fast-paced action or highly open-ended exploration may find the experience deliberately methodical. Most challenges emphasize careful observation and logical thinking instead of difficulty, making the game accessible but occasionally predictable. Fortunately, the compelling narrative and consistently strong atmosphere do an excellent job of maintaining interest even when certain gameplay mechanics feel familiar. Mystery of Myths: Whisper of Depth Collector's Edition succeeds because it understands the strengths of story-driven hidden object adventures. The combination of paranormal investigation, mythological storytelling, polished visuals, and varied puzzles creates an enjoyable experience that remains engaging throughout its runtime. Do Games Limited delivers a well-crafted adventure that balances mystery, exploration, and puzzle-solving without losing sight of its narrative focus. While it may not reinvent the genre, it offers a satisfying and atmospheric journey that should appeal to fans of supernatural detective stories and hidden object games alike. Rating: 6/10
