this game is a cruel, utterly chaotic mess, yet has some of the most satisfying word puzzles ever. it also has a few of the worst! looks and runs like ♥♥♥♥ but i don't even care because the fundamentals are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. half the time you're having a lobotomy and the other is like you're on that brain drug from 'LUCY'. make sure to get comfortable with US spelling and pronunciation because that tripped me up a lot. i recommend it if you hate yourself
i’m losing it 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
i have not finished the game yet (probably not even close) but wow it deserves all the hype is gets; the rule deduction is satisfying, environmental puzzles are satisfying, and the "regular" are often great too, with a lot of neat twists. the game also keeps teasing puzzles that one would lack the knowledge to solve at that point too, which gives a lot of intrigue and motivation throughout. i highly recommend giving it a shot

Если не знаешь вообще всех английских слов, то игра нереальная. Головоломка хорошая, но НЕРЕАЛЬНО тяжёлая для людей, у которых английский язык не первый
An incredibly fun and frustrating experience, especially the later parts of the game when the words that you are supposed to get require you to have a lot of general knowledge.
this game is crazy good and smart even though it looks like someone tried to do a port of Untitled Unity Project into Roblox Studio
really interesting.
Possibly the best game I have ever played, it just gets deeper and deeper, and I've only scratched the surface...
getting beat to death in the head with hammers probably hurts your head less than this game
Lingo is an exceptionally creative puzzle game that proves complex ideas do not require elaborate visuals or constant storytelling to leave a lasting impression. Developed and published by Brenton Wildes, this first-person adventure centers on language, observation, and logical reasoning, delivering an experience that challenges players to think in ways few other games attempt. Rather than guiding players with lengthy tutorials or objective markers, it encourages independent discovery, rewarding curiosity and careful analysis with satisfying breakthroughs. Its understated presentation may seem simple at first, but beneath that minimalist exterior lies an impressively intricate puzzle world that continually surprises those willing to invest their time and attention. The game's central mechanic revolves around deciphering words, symbols, and environmental clues that gradually reveal increasingly sophisticated layers of gameplay. Instead of presenting isolated puzzles, Lingo intertwines language with exploration, making every answer feel like part of a much larger system. Players must observe their surroundings carefully, identify hidden relationships, and experiment with ideas instead of relying on trial-and-error alone. The absence of excessive hand-holding makes each successful solution feel genuinely earned, creating memorable moments when seemingly unrelated clues suddenly connect in unexpected ways. The reliance on direct keyboard input further strengthens the feeling that players are actively engaging with language rather than simply selecting predetermined options. Exploration is equally important to the overall experience. The game's interconnected world is filled with winding corridors, hidden pathways, secret rooms, and architectural oddities that encourage constant investigation. Every newly unlocked area introduces fresh concepts while also expanding upon mechanics learned earlier, resulting in a world that feels intelligently designed rather than artificially segmented. Because progression is largely nonlinear, players who become stuck can often leave a difficult puzzle behind and discover entirely new regions before returning later with fresh insights. This freedom minimizes frustration while preserving the sense of mystery that defines the adventure. Lingo excels at teaching through observation instead of explanation. New mechanics are introduced naturally through environmental design, allowing players to uncover rules on their own without interrupting gameplay with tutorials. Each puzzle builds upon previous discoveries while introducing subtle variations that prevent repetition from becoming stale. The game consistently rewards patience, encouraging players to slow down, examine details, and reconsider assumptions. Many of its most satisfying moments come from recognizing patterns that had been quietly present all along, making every revelation feel like a personal achievement rather than a scripted event. The minimalist visual style complements the gameplay remarkably well. Clean environments, simple geometry, and carefully chosen colors ensure that important clues remain easy to identify without unnecessary distractions. Although the graphics lack the visual spectacle found in many modern releases, their clarity enhances puzzle-solving and helps players focus on exploration. The unusual architecture gives the world an almost surreal quality, reinforcing the feeling that every location exists primarily to challenge perception and reasoning rather than realism. This artistic restraint allows the game's unique design philosophy to remain at the forefront throughout the entire experience. Its audio design follows a similarly restrained philosophy. Ambient sounds create a subtle atmosphere without overwhelming the player, while long stretches of quiet encourage concentration during more demanding puzzles. Rather than relying on dramatic music to manufacture tension, Lingo allows the puzzles themselves to generate excitement. The calm soundscape supports thoughtful exploration, making each discovery feel more intimate and rewarding. The game's greatest strength is also its biggest barrier to entry. Lingo expects players to think independently and rarely offers direct hints when they encounter difficult challenges. Some puzzles require lateral thinking, strong observation skills, and a willingness to revisit previous assumptions before progress becomes possible. While this uncompromising approach may occasionally frustrate players seeking immediate gratification, it is precisely what makes the game so memorable. Every major breakthrough carries an immense sense of accomplishment because success comes from genuine understanding rather than following instructions. Beyond its primary objectives, Lingo offers substantial replay value through hidden secrets, optional puzzles, collectible discoveries, and community-created content supported through the Steam Workshop. Completionists will find plenty of reasons to revisit areas they previously explored, uncovering additional mysteries that may have gone unnoticed during an initial playthrough. This abundance of optional content extends the game's longevity and rewards players who enjoy thoroughly examining every corner of its carefully constructed world. Lingo is an outstanding example of how originality and intelligent design can create an unforgettable puzzle experience without relying on flashy presentation or cinematic storytelling. Its clever integration of language, nonlinear exploration, environmental design, and challenging logic puzzles results in a game that consistently respects the player's intelligence. Although its demanding nature may not appeal to everyone, those who enjoy solving deeply layered mysteries and discovering mechanics through experimentation will find an experience that remains engaging from beginning to end. It stands as one of the most distinctive and rewarding first-person puzzle games available on Steam. Rating: 9/10
